  1. You are wrong to say that anyone can coach 'a side that is skilled and strong and competitive' - it is a challenge to coach any side, anywhere, anytime. Nevertheless, I suspect we agree more than may be apparent - coaching is both an art and a science. MN's problem is that he can't see the art, and he has a black and white view of the science. Too many opportunities to work with existing players have been missed by MN and MFC is now paying the price.
  2. Good post 'McQueen' - hit the nail right on the head! (Also like your new picture!)
  3. Sorry, missed your last comment - are you referring to Rivers and Moloney - if you are, wrong!
  4. If they didn't have any weak links, they would not lose! You are correct in saying that the old links will straighten out any problems with the new links. You are also correct that a club culture has been built. My question is why MFC chose MN with his flawed approach to producing a successful culture and recruiting!
  5. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link! Cats lost tonight, but as I said that's life, it happens - they will be there when it counts, and that's why their game plan is the way to the future, unless you want a boring Swans/Dockers game in your future!
  6. So MFC has a gameplan - pity no-one can work it out! The strength of the Cats is that they don't panic - they stick to their basic approach - sometimes they lose, that's life! Ask yourself who has been the most successful team in the last 6-7 years and what underlying game plan was used!
  7. Seems like Garry disagrees! http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl
  8. Seems even Garry's had enough of MN! http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl
  9. I agree with you in general Tony, but I was at the 2011 grand final and Geelong were always going to win - it stood out all day.
  10. Same here Dr. My wife supports the Cats and I saw all bar one of their home games in 2011, and their finals - they were awesome to watch then, and they are better this year.
  11. There's only one way to handle it 'Unleash' and I'm confident that underneath you really know it.
  12. Well said 'cowboy' - that's the glass half-full approach.
  13. Understand your position in some respects 'rpfc', but it still sounds a lot like a guy by the name of Neville Chamberlain prior to WWII.
  14. Sorry 'dee-luded', but before MN was employed we were told MFC would employ an experienced coach next time - how then did we end up with MN? The buck stops with the Board and MN - end of story.
  15. Don't misunderstand my comments on the 'Geelong' game plan 'cowboy'. The way they play is what could be called 'traditional' footy. A few clubs have tried (and sometimes succeeded) over the years to produce a dull, boring, negative style of play, usually because they lack genuine footballers. It's not natural, mostly not successful, and definitely not desirable.
  16. King's accurate prediction is on tape from 12 months ago, almost to the day. If 'someone' is really advising the Board to keep their heads down, then be grateful at least 'someone' is taking positive steps.
  17. Roos would probably be a good choice for coach if he really wants to do the job, but whoever the new coach is, they must have a healthy respect for the Geelong style of football - it's natural, it's successful, it's being copied in various forms by several clubs and it's attractive to watch - what more could you want!
  18. This is my first post since the debacle against GC. I believed it was a time to let the Board meet, discuss and review, as a matter of urgency, given the appalling situation the club is in. My understanding is that the Board has not met and everything is proceeding as usual - if anyone can tell me otherwise, please do so. It is inconceiveable that any club would fail to at least have an urgent Board meeting after a disaster such as the GC defeat, even if the Board only decided to make a media statement. The apparent lack of action by the MFC hierarchy is disgusting - it has reinforced my view that the situation at MFC is a 'top down' problem. This is difficult to write because I do not know what more can be said to get a message of disgust through to the MFC hierarchy. I have seen a few posters on various threads trying to defend the current hierarchy and the football department, including the coach - they are kidding themselves. My views are well known and I am not going to regurgitate all the arguments from the last two years - the record speaks for itself. In my mind, just one significant question remains - does anyone in the hierarchy really care about MFC? PS AFL 360 has just shown David King's comments on MFC and MN from 12 months ago - there are many others who saw the problems coming!
  19. Your post fits with other comments on this issue, although it is short on detail regarding timing, etc. MN's actions are entirely his own doing - we are all accountable for our own actions.
  20. Please get your grammar and punctuation in order, as they change the meaning of parts of your post. You are entitled to defend MN and you have been doing so in many posts in a short time, but fortunately many MFC supporters and D/L posters are more knowledgeable than you give them credit for. (Yes, it is permissible to end a sentence with a preposition - even Shakespeare knew that.)
  21. A secretary can do that - an analyst would tell you that your behaviour is out of the ordinary for a new poster - D/L has seen that before!
  22. Amazing number of posts in less than 6 months Satyriconhome - do you have another working life?
