  1. I've actually had to turn off....also in part because Melbourne are insipid, but the commentary is bordering on hysterical. You would think you were listening to the Grand Final not a practice match! As a Melbourne supporter you just get nothing out of it.

And according to the 5AA idiots we STOLE Mitch Clark.......

  2. As I said, the info I got from the club just said he'd been dropped.

And once again, I obviously don't propose who we trade him for.

I said, a lot of posters have been making demands that we trade in a mature-bodied player or 2.

I'm merely introducing the notion that if we are to trade in decent players, we'll need to give up decent players.

    Like Petterd.

Calm down, read slowly, comprehend, then reply.

I certainly don't want to trade him, but I do want to improve our list, and I understand that for that to happen, we need to make sacrifices.

    Ta.

Definitely injured! I was at training for a while after the Casey Demons breakfast this morning, and he was just walking laps of the oval.

  3. Agreed.

It achieves nothing. Just don't play him.

It was really humiliating for him and I personally felt really uncomfortable about it, and that is despite my thoughts on his very poor leadership this year.

This club seems hell bent on burning people and going about things in a very public and unnecessarily shambolic manner.

Also agree. If he is not right to play a full game, then don't play him at all. What would have happened if we had a match ending injury in the first 2 minutes of the game!

I thought it was humilating the club captain to have him lead the team out in the green vest.

  4. I would take great pleasure in kicking McBurney in the nuts.

He is a sad sad little man who makes ridiculous decisions time and time again. However the lowlight was definitely Jack Watts getting punched in the stomach behind play, being put down and struggling to run, while the gutless wonder standing on the boundary did nothing. Absolutely pathetic!

(but we lost because we played like poo)

It is an absolute disgrace that McBurney is allowed on an AFL ground. He insists on paying the obscure free kicks and ignoring half the obvious ones.

  5. Yeah southern stand reserved seat area was fairly empty

Don't know what we need to do to get our members to turn up to games! No excuses when at the G and fine weather playing a top side. The Hawk supporters clearly outnumbered us. Even the Hassett room after the match was half empty which very rarely happens even when we do lose.

  6. Can't believe all the excuses for not turning up on Friday. The MFC are playing so if you love the Demons you will be there!!! I hate Friday night games and Etihad but I will be there on Friday night. Also get a 17 game membership (not much more than 11 game) and you money goes to Melbourne and not the opposition

Lets all get their and support OUR team on Friday. Would love to see 25K + passionate Dees supporters....

  7. I didn't hear the whistle either and I pretty close to the action there as well. Neither did my wife

Typical of the umpiring at that end of the ground though

Unfortunately common sense seems to be frowned upon with the umpiring fraternity! I would have thought that it would be common sense that a player can't take advantage until they are actually aware they have been awarded a mark or free kick.

  8. At the moment Bate is lost. He lost his mojo last year & it is still missing.

His first 3 or so years were good & he looked like he would be a top line player. ATM he is not

quite a lead up marking player & not quite a flanker.

The Brains Trust needs to try something new with him maybe on the ball maybe full back maybe half back flank. Look how Tarrant managed to reinvent himself. Bate is strong, quick tall & reads the play well.

Come on Bailey try something !!!!!

He had little impact on the game at Casey on Saturday and on that performance, is a fair way off returning to AFL.

  9. Watched the replay again of the incident. Have the following points to make.

    1. None of the replays showed Davey making contact with McGynn's head (probably because he didn't)

    2. Play continues after the impact.

    3. McBurnie calls the play back after he notices McGlynn on the ground.

    4. As soon as the free is given, McGlynn bounces up like nothing is wrong.

    Important questions.

    1. Did McBurnie actually see the impact?

    2. If so why did he let play continue?

    3. If the footage is proven to show no contact, will McGlynn go for diving?

    4. Will McBurnie get a senior game next week?

Just want to know if I'm only looking with one eye??

I was at the game and also noticed that play continued until McBurney noticed the player lying on the gound, THEN decided to stop play and give the free kick and the report. Very poor effort, but McBurney has proved time and again that he is an ordinary umpire who loves to stamp himself on a game!!

  10. Just wondering if Kyle Cheney made the trip as the emergency player.

Maric had the role last week and you wouldn't think he'd have it two weeks in a row. Yo

I wouldn't take Warnock as an emergency so my guess is Cheney.

Warnock & Maric both played for Casey today.

  11. Outs - Miller & Jetta (both absolutely awful today) and probably Macdonald (although you could choose from about 5)

Ins - Sylvia & McDonald (both automatic inclusions if fit) and one of Spencer/PJ (don't really care which but we can't go in with one ruckman against St Kilda who play 3 or 4)

Rivers and Warnock only survive because St Kilda play a tall forward line

PJ won't be back next game, although he has been in Casey's best for the last few games, because he got a 1 game suspension from the VFL tribunal.

  12. Martin has missed the last two Casey games so must be injured.

Stef Martin was interviewed in the Hassett room after the match and he has a hip injury at present and not 100% sure how serious it is as yet.

  13. Nice, thanks for that TT. Did he make any mention of Stretch's boy? Not as highly rated as Viney but still good prospect.

No, really just mentioned current players such as James Mac, Aaron Davey, Brad Green, etc.

  14. I attended the Casey Demons breakfast yesterday where the MC was Chris Connolly and David Neitz was also one of the speakers. Chris gave an overview of where other clubs were at and also talked about recruiting. He mentioned that Jack Viney was starring in SA and that the demons were planning on recruiting him under the father & son even though he is 2 years away. He went on to say that the club was meeting with Todd Viney this weekend when he is in Melbourne to start making the necessary arrangements. Sounds like good news!!!

Chris also talked about other club stars who had recently had boys and asked David Neitz when we can expect a few boys from him. David said that at this stage, he and his girlfriend are just practising...

  15. Firstly, a great first up win for coach Brad Gotch. The Scorps are slow starters and they nearly kicked themselves out of the game in the first half. After half time however, they were the dominant side albeit forced to play catch up football and, in the end, they caught up in the nick of time.

Stef Martin was the team's tall forward playing deep and he could easily have kicked six but for the fact that he was off target early. His goal just before half time when he baulked an opponent and kicked accurately at last was a gem. I'm still not sure if attack is the place for him - he comes from a basketball background and I'm sure he still has a lot to learn. He may be forced to become a forward because of the lack of places in the team available for him.

Tom McNamara was solid in defence and was close to Casey's best against a quality opponent. He will also suffer from lack of opportunity as Colin Garland and Jared Rivers are both well ahead of him at this stage.

Miller played at CHF and just went. Maric started slowly but was better after half time and kicked a crucial goal.

Jack Watts was in Casey's best playing half forward and wing. He picked up around 20 disposals and was both creative and effective. He is growing and bulking up and should be back in AFL ranks within the next couple of weeks if a place opens up for him.

Did Paul Johnson play and if so, how did he go?

  16. Could we put P Johnson on the LTI and elevate Jordie McKenzie for round 1?

I think you need to be unavailable for a minimum of 8-10 weeks to go on the long term injury list. I understand PJ will be available by around round 3-4.
