  1. I tend to have the view that everyone's trade-able, but I don't think we'd get for Davey what he's worth to us. We lack pace, and we lack small forwards, so to us I think Davey is quite valuable.
  2. I think Pickett, Bizz, Brown, Ward, and Godfrey are a good start. Not many are in our best team, and most will be 30+ in 2008. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the trio Holland, Warnock, and Ferguson. Unless traded, I think everyone else is safe. EDIT: Given the vibe on Demonland I was a little surprised about Neaves, but I haven't seen much of him.
  3. If you want to reward week one winners, then you can't have higher seeds playing better teams than lower seeds! Your assertion that WCE shouldn't have played at home vs Collingwood because of week 1 results (Eagles losing/Collingwood winning) ignores the fact that the Eagles were forced to play the third-ranked side, and the Pies played the 7th seed.
  4. Perhaps he hasn't recovered from the ankle injury that occurred vs WB late in the season.
  5. The post you responded to clearly stated recreational substancess, not performance enhancing substances. No they wouldn't. From what I've read, in pretty much any other sport they wouldn't even be tested for these substances.
  6. That's exactly why we'd trade him. He's significantly older than our core group of youngsters coming through - Bate, McLean, Dunn et al - but probably still has strong trade value. He'd be more valuable to someone who wanted to add some icing to their cake. To continute the analogy, we're still mixing ours.
  7. I thought you might guess at some positional changes, but alas none.
  8. IMHO, poorly. He certainly wouldn't have been Coach of MFC in that timeframe if it was up to me. Anyhow, old ground and all that It's a fair point, but conversely, I wonder how much it has helped the Roos. Fwiw, I believe Bailey more likely to bring the ultimate success to our Club than any of the other candidates that made the shortlist.

    Bode

I think Bode will be promoted. As for where it leaves the other rookies, I think Neaves could be a candidate for our one third year rookie. I'm not sure about the other guys.
  10. As you said, the panel had to nominate two. Lyon could have suggested Bailey and Connolly. That said, I don't buy into the 'Lyon's mates with Chris so he will vote for him' line.
  11. This post made me laugh PS. My Mum thinks it's good we didn't get Connolly.
  12. TJ's no spring chicken, so we could do worse. Ultimately it depends on what we get for him - Bailey's obviously no goose, so TJ will only be traded if we get something decent. I'm okay with that.
  13. I'm disappointed Buckley isn't playing, but we'll see plenty more of him. I'm a little surprised we're persevering with two rucks, but I guess they probably want to get game time into both PJ and Jamar.
  14. Haha. That'd really cap off our year!
  15. That's a bit rich. Why do you think Riley would have necessarily been better than Bailey? Bailey has had more success as an assistant (premierships with Essendon and Port iirc)? With AFL the way it is, Bailey can watch every Dees game, and I imagine he has some idea of many of the players. It might help when it comes to delistings etc, but I think it could be just as beneficial for Bailey to make up his own mind re: their personality and ethic over the preseason. If they're on the list for 2008, it doesn't matter what's gone before - just what happens from here on in.
  16. You named two out of the five on the shortlist. Riley was a dead duck, so essentially you had a 50% chance of being correct. Nice toss of the coin
  17. I'm going. Sunday night is terrible though - the crowd will be even lower than it otherwise would be.
  18. Bailey should not coach on Sunday.
  19. Hurrah. Glad we chose a guy to Coach. Get someone else to pimp the Club.
  20. Another one bites the dust. Good stuff.
  21. As opposed to EFC over the past five.
  22. + Bate + Bell + Bizzell - Jamar - Sylvia - Neitz B: Ferguson, Carroll, Brown HB: Ward, Bizzell, Bell C: Green, Johnstone, Bruce HF: Pickett, Miller, Robertson F: CJ, Bate, Newton R: White, McLean, Jones I/C: PJohnson, Buckley, Bode, Dunn EM: Garland, Warnock, Who's left?
  23. Good games boys. Bizz would probably sneak into my 22 if we were in it to win, but he's the wrong side of 30. Brown has played some good football this year, but he's also the wrong side of 30 and I guess this gives him an opportunity to have some games with Walsh in the SANFL.
