  1. Batting averages in the last three series' he's played in: 17, 24 and 32. If he's in the top six, it's a sad indictment on our batting stocks.
  2. This suggests that Melbourne, Carlton and Richmond could do the same as Sydney, West Coast and Hawthorn. However, I'm going to suggest that the second group you mentioned had far better older players than the Dees, Carlton and Richmond did.
  3. The cost of running a standlone team has been reported as costing up to $500K*. Based on 2012 membership figures (which were down on 2011), this equates to ~$14 per member. To put that in perspective, if we applied this as a flat 'tax' on 2013 members it would be a ~6% increase for Red & Blue Adult 11 (General Admission, home game only) members. Using a proportional method, in which each member is levied a set percentage of their membership, memberships would increase by only a few percent across the board. Thus, a fairer question is 'are you prepared to increase the size of your membership fee by less than 5% to fund a standalone team'? To that I answer, resoundingly, yes. *In case you're concerned about cost blowouts, if the figure was $600K it would be ~$17 per member, which equates to a little under an 8% increase for Red & Blue Adult 11 members if applied as a 'flat tax'.
  4. When I saw the thread title on the main page of the forum I thought Hazyshadeofgrinter may have started a thread.
  5. McLardy's statement says 'a fair process will take longer than the few weeks before this draft' written in invisible ink.
  6. http://www.theage.co...l#ixzz2Az7Ij8Q3 Zing. However, my schadenfreude is short-lived when I think about how screwed we may be.
  7. The amusing thing - one of them - is that Adelaide would have taken Pick 23, but didn't want White, who Sydney were desperate to offload.

I don't remember being excited by any of those trades. In fact, I can remember being distinctly unimpressed by some.
  9. Some work experience kid given a fluff piece about the grand final entertainment? I don't read the Hun but I don't recognise the author. Hahah.
  10. This. I was very disappointed that he missed out.
  11. Wheels bumped Aker on the wing at the MCG one day v the Bulldogs and Aker did an unintended handstand, such was the force.

  13. Agreed. True, but I don't think this means the issue can't be discussed. It's not like having one Demonland thread on the clash jumper is diverting significant resources away from the more important challenges facing the Club.
  14. IMHO sensible sock and short colours - forget about home/away convention and choose dark/light options to differentiate the teams - would negate any need for a clash strip.
  15. Good point - it just wouldn't do to have another player provide some highlights.
  16. Jurrah was one guy that made the footy an interesting spectacle despite us being terrible.
  17. I don't know that he's that big a risk. If he doesn't turn out, big deal. The opportunity cost is tiny and you're probably going to get kudos for giving the guy a 'second' chance; if he screws up it'll be on him. That said, I'd be very surprised to see him on an AFL list again.
  18. Demonology lives on. EDIT: I see RobbieF got in first:

  20. Yesterday was one of the worst games of football I've seen. Not only were both teams poor (and we weren't just poor because we're playing a B-grade side, we were also very poor at executing the basics that have no correlation with talent), so was the umpiring. However, I'm glad someone found enough positives to start a celebratory thread.
