  1. Considering he took the same tack as Rhino had a few posts earlier, I'm sure it wasn't difficult to compliment Hazy on his post
  2. I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we don't need to inject pace. demondomination has Davey marked down as a forward, but our midfield is slow and thus Davey's used up the ground. I imagine our lack of pace helped Ward play as many games as he did last year. PS. Davey played one of his best games of the year vs WB last year, didn't he?
  3. I think there's light at the end of the tunnel. It's almost a half-full/half-empty thing at the moment, though. For there to be light at the end of the tunnel we need to bank on significant improvement from almost all our young guys, particularly the taller ones. However, I think a major oversight in your summary is our pace - we might have a TOUGH HARD midfield with that team, but there's not much foot speed there. I'm not sure we can say we have 'the nucleus' when we're '1/2 forwards away', particularly as you've mentioned Miller as finding some form, and Newton needing to progress. Given that a 2 KPP forward line seems the norm, we're a long way off! PS. Frawley as a flanker seems to be an idea getting momentum - anyone else out there that doesn't see that he's a natural fit for a HBF?

    The Walk

Did anyone else think it needed more photos?
  5. Indeed. Carlton v Melb was 'the rematch' I guess it can be difficult to think of something stellar for each match =)
  6. Well done. I'm looking forward to next match.

Sorry, didn't mean it that way Next time..!
  8. ...and Chris Connolly, too.
  9. Thanks. We're getting squeezed from all angles atm.
  10. If you work for an organisation, and give your years of service in return for a wage, does either party owe the other at the end of the contract? It seems like some people feel that Lyon owes the Club, but surely your life is your own once your playing days finish. Go easy.
  11. Ignoring the projected loss this year, the debt has been substantially reduced, hasn't it? $4 million sounds bad, but I believe it was almost double that not too long ago ($7 rings a bell). How quickly will Stynes' business plan allow us to wipe off the remainder? As for the loss, anyone know why we are losing so much money this year? Have we put more into our football department? I know we made several new appointments. It's very disappointing. I believer we budgeted for 30,000 members, which was strange considernig our 2007 (an opinion our new CEO shares).
  12. With our forward line woes, I think moving him up there has merit, if only for him to be given a new challenge. It's a tough year to play in defence, and his form is down.
  13. Interesting - I heard that he was supportive, but nothing about reversing the order
  14. That might be the cause, yes.
  15. Whelan!
  16. Exactly.
  17. He was going to be omitted twice, but came in after a late injury. I've been saying that for ages - would be good.
  18. Not quite. He played 22 games in '06.
  19. It's been reported that he'd keep ~3 and bring in 8, but wanted to reduce the total numbers on the Board to 8 eventually.
  20. I think we're on the same page. I'm happy with that, I just find it frustrating when a player trying to take on the game is penalised as soon as he is tackled.
  21. It's good to hear that they're working on that side of his game.
  22. ...and the problem is? We're not talking about the constitution! The rules change all the time. Exactly my point - a player who attempts to make the play is penalised almost the instant that he is tackled, irrespective of whether the tackle is very effective (perhaps incorrectly adjudicated by the umpires), and even if he correctly disposes of the ball & the play continues in a timely fashion.
  23. It's not just today, either. He tends to look rather frustrated when not used, too - almost Richardson-esque
  24. Could you give me the gist of the interview with Tim Lane? I've only read this, and don't see terribly much problem with the excerpts: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/D...px?newsid=61092
  25. My primary objective would be to encourage players to take on the game, and my secondary objective would be to reward good tackling. - If you're tackled and dispose of the ball correctly (regardless of 'prior opportunity' or being 'retarded') it should be play on - If you're tackled and don't dispose of the ball correctly, a free kick should be paid against you
