  1. Pick 48 - Misbah-ul-haq (PAK) Captaincy material. Pick 49 - Chandimal (SL) Every team needs a promising young player or two. A good time to tick some countries off the list while I still liked what was left...
  2. I might comment on that after he makes his two picks. Anyone watching the ODI game at the moment? If you still need a player from the Caribbean, you might want to pick up Extras (WI) - top scorer at the moment.
  3. No problems. I don't mind your picks so far, H_T. Our teams are balanced a little differently so far - I have a spinner, you have an extra batsman - but it's shaping for an interesting match-up. Now it's titan 'on the snake' with two picks.
  4. He's been a very good player over the years and I picked up Khan last time we did the Best XI game. (Sadly, the thread has disappeared). However, I think Khan's recent form has probably played a part in him lasting so long in the draft; he averaged 36 last year, passing 50 only twice in 10 innings. Still a solid pick at this stage though - he was on the shortlist for my next pick.
  5. Definitely. I think there'll be some decent players left at my next two picks (48/49) but after that it may be slim pickings.
  6. It must be tough being such a good player in such a poor team.
  7. It's the eight mentioned in the original post.
  8. Pick 32 - Kemar Roach (WI) I almost took Roach at #17, so I'm very happy to see he slipped to #32. Pick 33 - Chris Gayle (WI)
  9. I see his current predicament as being similar to someone who has been out with an injury. He's back playing for NZ in a side versus England in the lead-up to the Tests and wouldn't be surprised if he's selected for the upcoming series.
  10. I'll hold off on my picks until this is resolved. Fwiw, I was about to pick Taylor. Talking of NZers, it's interesting to see how far Vettori's stocks have fallen in the Best XI game.
  11. There's nothing new in this article; it's a repeat of the same things we've already heard many times. For continuity reasons I haven't merged this, but feel free to use the existing thread: http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32570-tanking/
  12. Given Clark was a massive loss, that's quite a difference.
  13. In my opinion Grimes tends to fluff kicks when under very little pressure. I also don't think Moloney is quick, but he doesn't play for us anymore so it's even less relevant.
  14. Round 2 - Pick 16: Swann (Eng) Round 3 - Pick 17: Siddle (Aus) Swann probably isn't the 16th best cricketer in the world, but I'm not sure there are too many top-class spinners left. PS. Sorry about the delay, I didn't expect we'd move so quickly.
  15. Why is it obscene? If we were tanking it's only natural to look at who might have been involved, and Stynes was President at the time.
  16. Good stuff, HT. Round 1 - Pick no.1 #1 - Kallis (SA). I can't go past him. There are still plenty of stars you just can't say no to, but it'll be interesting to see who's left by the time my next pick comes around. All yours, thepassenger.
  17. Yeah, it's a real shame the old thread has disappeared. Everyone would have recognised that I am the reigning champ
  18. I'm hopeful Ryan Harris is still on the radar.
  19. One swallow. Sri Lanka have been awful and Johnson was Player of the Series in 2008/09 vs South Africa. That said, if he was playing as a bowling all-rounder that might help because I think he's a confidence player and he may feel less pressure when bowling. I'm not convinced his batting is going to be consistently good enough, but I wouldn't be shocked. Guys who can bowl some very good bowls, but also bowl plenty of rubbish, often get talked up as very talented - albeit wayward or whatever - but I think that bowling talent involves having the ball go where you want to. If you're too often not able to land the thing where you want I reckon that's a big black mark on your talent assessment. Ponting was done. I really liked Hussey so I'll be disappointed to see him missing. However, the wheel turns. I'd love if he retired now in the hope that his brother would get a gig.
  20. Is an average of 36 good enough for a batting all-rounder? He's not actually that talented; he bowls lots of rubbish. Even when his mind is in a good place he's still going to lack control.
  21. Even with South Africa, cricket was struggling. Fwiw, someone wrote an article in The Age recently along the same lines as WYL's comment.
  22. George, when you refer to a queue are you asserting that Telstra either update or approve content changes? It seems very strange that the Clubs wouldn't have access to a CMS for updating the site. (I know Telstra has a CMS that other Bigpond portals use and Telstra staff are not required to update site content). When you refer to a limited amount of upload per day, is this a limited number of changes or is it based on file size? A limited number of changes would be surprising so I assume the latter, but if that is the case then it doesn't explain why text could not be updated, because text changes are infinitesimally small when measured in data upload.
  23. HT, you should get in on the action! The independent judge part is of little importance IMO; if we don't have one we can all debate which team is better come the end of the game (which we'll do anyway, right?)
