2nd round picks for Dunn & JKH??? Your name isn't Dodoro is it?
-
I wouldn't mind Stewart, especially if Hogan were to leave. But if the rumors about Hogan signing an extension are true then I feel he'd be low on our radar. Word is he's capable of playing 2nd ruck, however 19 hit outs in 17 AFL games in 2015 when he was playing the 2nd ruck/forward role doesn't fill me with confidence. I think we're better off drafting Darcy Cameron and picking up Luke Lowden as a DFA personally.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
MadAsHell replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wonder what @Grand New Flag thinks of this rumor ie: does it have any substance? -
Our skipper played his junior football down Mt Eliza way.

Yep, three good servants of the club who gave their all during a very difficult time. Really feel for Grimey as you know how much he loved the club.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
MadAsHell replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyway, as for Ben Kennedy, I still think he can be a valuable depth player for us. The guys a tough competitor and has decent pace. He started the year in very good form but seemed to tire as the year went on with him playing more games this year then in any previous. I don't think he's ever going to be a star, but a more then handy depth player who can rotate through the midfield and as a small forward to keep the likes of Garlett & Kent honest. -
They may be looking to beat Freo to the punch with Cam McCarthy? Rory Lobb is getting talked about a lot. Aaron Black from North on the move? Mason Shaw had a good year in the WAFL, There could be a few other options that they may also be looking at and after Darling's last two finals, I'm not surprised they're looking to move him on.

Happy with this if true. As DD says, attitude is a concern, but the kid has serious talent. A genuine swing man who can play forward, mid & down back. If we recruit Lamb & Josh Watts, we could have a couple of potential strong utilities that would add a different dimension to the team. Let Macca go to work on Lamb and we could have a real steal here. His old man apparently played a couple of games back in 93' for us also. Would be nice to have our 5th Father/Son (Viney, Stretch, Smith, Maynard & Lamb).

Casey B&F is Thursday night I think, so possibly Friday or into Monday,

While I still want us to draft Cameron (see above) I think Luke Lowden is someone we could also look at as a delisted free agent. Played the majority of the year in the SANFL as a 2nd ruck/forward to good effect it seems booting over 20 goals. Unable to get a look in at the Crows behind Jacobs & Jenkins. Would cost us nothing as compared to Nathan Vardy who is also more injury prone. Will turn 26 before the start of next seson. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-23/crows-delist-exhawk-luke-lowden-and-youngster-keenan-ramsey http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/115529/Luke-LOWDEN Wouldn't at all be surprised if Hawthorn try to lure him back.

I'm not against trading ANB, but not just for the sake of it like Dunn or Garland. Unless we can get an early 3rd Round Pick or a player that we think would specifically help our list eg Nathan Vardy (ruck/forward) then I'd rather hold onto him. The kids come 5th in the VFL B&F in his 2nd year, so we've clearly got something to work with.

What's with them having a different Crows supporter talk about each round of football?

Gee Alex Lloyd has been in a good paddock!

Michie (Rookie), Max King (rookie), Terlich, Newton, Matt Jones, Pedersen, Dawes = delist Grimes = walk as free agent Dunn, Garland = trade for what we can get Hogan traded in worst case scenario and Nibbler if we get offered something good for him Wagner upgraded White to get a 3rd year on rookie list & Smith a 2nd year So that gives us 7 senior list vacancies (if Hogan & Nibbler stay) & 3 rookie list spots. Would allow us to trade in Hibberd and possibly one more experienced player, 4 picks at the draft and maybe a DFA. Or someone like Matt Jones may in fact get a 1 year extension.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH
MadAsHell replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Turns 26 in Feb. -
Disappointed to see so many people happy to see the Dolphins go under. Having grown up in Frankston (haven't lived there for about 8 years) I can say i find this news very sad. A once very proud club no longer exists. Multiple division 2 titles and players drafted into the AFL including our soon to be Michael Hibberd, former Ryan Ferguson, Mark Baguley, Sam Lloyd & Aaron Edwards. A sad day for football.....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH
MadAsHell replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've watched a lot of Tim Smith iver the last few years and have always been a fan. He's always been a very good mark, however he was very inconsistent and used to be an average shot for goal at best. His goal kicking improved over one off season however and this year he has been far more consistent, being named ar CHF in the VFL team of the year. Don't know if we'd be the team to draft him unless they think of moving Hulett to defense, as i think any key forwards we add in the off season will have an ability to play ruck or in worst case scenario and Hogan goes, be a stop gap option till Weideman's ready like Jay Schulz. Could see him walking into Richmond's 22 however as that 3rd tall forward. -
VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
MadAsHell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Go and watch Plapp's interviews pre & post Grand Final. The Casey players have brought into the one club message which is now being pushed. Their part time footballers dedicating themselves to try and lead as close a lifestyle to a full time footballer as possible. Attending extra training sessions when possible including summer sessions in the city with the Melbourne players to try and gel. There's a good interview with Trengove & Munroe on Scorp TV from mid-season where they talk about the efforts being made for the groups to bond and grow more. Casey's D-League team made the grand final also, which shows the ground being gained by the club. Gone are the days of 2 years ago where Ro Welsh gave JKH some instructions that totally contradicted what Miller had just asked him to do and the poor kid had no idea who he was suppose to follow. If Melbourne were to go stand alone, it would have been after the 2014 season. Instead they decided to work on the alignment with great results, We've gone from 2nd last in 2014 ahead of only Bendigo (now dismantled) to a finslist in 2015 and Grand Finalist/minor premier in 2016. Yet because of one terrible quarter, which even AFL prelim finalist teams aren't exempt from, people want to talk down the alignment. Amazing what goes on. However one thing I will say, is that I'm not against a renaming of the team to show the true alignment, however it is important from a VFL perspective to keep the Scorpions name. In the Victorian District Cricket league the Casey-South Melbourne cricket club play out of Casey Fields, so I think the Melbourne-Casey Scorpions is something that they could rename the club. Give them the Melbourne guernsey with a Scorpion a the bottom of the red point on the jumper. Just a thought. -
VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
MadAsHell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Your not wrong Fifty-5 and I think our recruiting just recently is starting to address this, however it may not be till about 2018 before it starts to bear fruit. I think in general we're far to one paced, so players such as Hunt, Stretch, Melksham, Lumumba, Garlett (players capable of breaking the lines) are a must. We also need more mids who have that ability to break away from stoppages. Again the likes of Petracca & Harmes are players that should be automatic locks to play at Etihad, even if that means resting a Tyson or Brayshaw etc. Like the Australian Cricket team in Asia, the Melbourne FC need to start to take a horses for courses approach when it comes to Etihad. The addition of Hibberd will help as well as Salem with their accurate kicking and strong runnning. I'm also hoping there's a stronger concentration on outside run at this years draft as compared to our inside mids where we're reasonably well placed. -

Post of the day Stuie! -
If we can get Pick 47 (Eagles 3rd Round Pick is 48) off Brisbane as part of any Dunn trade, then i say we take him.
-
I actually think he moves better then what he looks. A few times this year i was suprised to see him get to a contest or take a mark that i didn't think he'd get to. He's a real competitor and a big brute of a lad. I see a bit of Leigh Brown in him myself. Not the most skilful player. But a very handy one who will play his role and give it his all.

VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
MadAsHell replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was at the game yesterday and it was tough to watch. Very unfortunate way to end what's been a great season. Match was lost in the midfield. At that venue our midfield had to totally control the play, otherwise we were always in danger of being cut up on the outside. Dogs midfield managed to break even though and in the 3rd term smash us which was the game. Not really feeling in the mood to give a full player run down, so will only provide a short one. Oliver is a star Weideman competed well but needs to get stronger. Trengove did a few really nice things. His hanball over the top in the centre square in the 1st term pure class. Not writing him off yet. Spencer was really disapointing Dunn/Garland i asdumed we'd only trade one, but we may trade both. List management will have a bit to think about. White was ok All the others struggled. We'll see a very different Casey next year. Highly likely there'll be no Grimes, Michie, Newton, Terlich, M. Jones, Pedersen, Dawes and good chance one or both of Dunn & Garland will be gone also. Bring on the egg & bacon rolls next year and go Scorps!
