  1. No it's not. It is a case that players up the ground are way too slow at reactingand would rather go to a contested marking option. One example was green who passed Steff Martin who was playing behind his opponent and Watts had a break on his player. The end result was the ball was cleared. I'd say Watts is better of leading until he builds more strength - but our players ability to see past the moment is worrying. As bad as Watts was today, I can't help but feel he'd be a more advanced player if he was at another club.
  2. Not sure about that. Tap was hard in and marking well. I rate those just as highly as racking up possessions.
  3. Watts would have had more possessions if players had have noticed his leads. I think, Watts would be better of at Casey because he'd have better game plan and structure to play with. Our forwardline and ball movement by senior players is embarrassing. Does anyone expect a forward player to mark the ball if it is aimed at their feet.
  4. Was Ok today. Needs to learn to play in front
  5. Now that is crazy. Like going back with the old. We are supposed to be developing a side for the future.
  6. Is why we get slaughtered on the turnovers. Week in week out.
  7. I fail to see melbourne beating anyone good until Bailey fix his moronic forwardline structure. To have nobody on our attacking side of the centre because they have all pushed up into defense is stupid.
  8. Pettered wasn't the worst, some other players could have been dumped before him.
  9. He could when Daniher was coach. Was better at the crash and bash. Direct football is what wins games. Unless you are likel Collingwood who can use skill to kick it around the boundary, better of just going straight down the middle.
  10. The team needs leading off field. You only have to look at Knights/Hird. Same players, two different results. The coach is the leader, if he can't get the players to follow his plans on the field, than he obviously isn't doing his job. I am not sure the players are lazey, I think their just isn't enough structure and the basics are missing. I pretty confident the players do not really know what Bailey wants them to do. Secondly, the rapid change from possession through the middle (Geelong) to playing the boundary line (collingwood) makes me think the plan chanes every year. Then comes the zones. We don't employ any but every other team does. Is that the senior players fault. As far as I can see, you need to develop a suitable game plan arround the players you have. Bailey needs to work out what he stands for.
  11. Saw the same thing last year against Carlton in the first quater. We fold like cards when the going gets tough - only because we have no defensive plan.
  12. The warning signs were there in pre-season- our football department is well behind the rest of the league in the basics. Just not good enough. Lack of awareness about the game or structure. Makes you wonder what the review Cameron Schwab ordered uncovered.
  13. Dean needs a new contract, he'd play Scully regardless. He is a desperate man.
  14. Maybe not top for but you expect the players to show some passion instead of jogging around the field. Rather pathetic. Down hill skiiers??
  15. I think its not being thugs but rather tackling harder. We got killed in the tackles - probably why they smashed us in the middle.
  16. Just think our list would be better of with a coach that knows how to coach. Im off the Dean Bailey, supporters list. No magic wand needed. just someone who can drill the basics needed to be a good side.
  17. If you understand the game plan dean, explain it then. I really want to know.
  18. Every year is a development year!! Under Dean Bailey. A development year suggests that we continue to improve, I'd say there hasn't been much development to-date. Interesting to note that Buckley who we axed is comming on better than our talented bunch.
  19. At least Jack Protected Spiece Watts had three goal assists today.
  20. I just want a new coach. Can't believe our skill level and decision making is still as bad as it was in 2008. Ok, we are a young side, quote game numbers. But our game plan stands for zero. Do we even have one. I seriously think Bailey makes up a new one every year based on who wins the premiership.
  21. If there is ever a game where Watts is going to get a chance to get some confidence, it is the next two matches against the Lions and Gold Coast. I think Watts faded with the rest of the side. The first half, his work was quite good and his possesions and handballs were quite clean. He probably used the ball better than some of our senior players. Not sure you can single out Watts for the smashing in the third quater. But I guess it goes to show, you can have all the youngsters in your rebuild but unless there is more experienced players to take the load, they are going to get hammered at some point in the game.
  22. Lack awareness. I think the slowness of the forwards to get back down the ground is the belief that players up the ground wont win the ball. I'd be happy if two forwards stayed back in the fifty zone to lead for the ball. You are only ever going to be fifty fifty chance running back to take a mark. Agree players do not work hard enough of the ball.
  23. How do you know. Martin could never be a big body forward because he cannot find the middle of the sticks. We might as well as stick big max gawn down their, at least his height might worry the oppositon defense.
