  1. The reason why we didnt get it into our F50 today was a couple of factors; i) Bate was well held today, ii) We need to get our F50 players more settled and have our best players in there. I would like to see the following; HF: Davey/Col (they can change on the wing), Bate, Watts F: Bennell, Green, LJ I thought Watto played pretty well tonight. Took some nice strong marks & kicked a couple of goals that will give him a huge amount of confidence.
  2. Maybe, just maybe the coaching staff believed that The Russian needed a little more of a rest as he was nackered. Playing Russian in the ruck for the first 5 mins is not the reason why we lost.
  3. A contest. An effort. A committed 4 quarters of footy. A solid attack at the ball that goes for more than 1 qtr (start it in the first qtr this week boys). Manning up would be bloody good too, too many times last week there were Crows players on their own (and they arn't that good or quick!) Sheparding/blocking would be good too, as would staying on our feet. We are going to have to be on the ball (pardon the pun) from the first bounce all the way to the end. One final thing boys - if your going to kick across goal in the back 50, make sure the kick is straight and hard (not looping and not be able to be telegraphed by the opposition). If what I have just said cant be done - dont bloody do it!! C'mon boys - show some grit and fighting spirit!!!!
  4. I think the phrase "famous Cary/Archer incident" would lend itself to that one. Btw - I would pay big $$ to see Johnno Brown belt the living suitcase out of him!!!
  5. For once I totally agree with Rino. NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY!
  6. Read above. He was found guilty (which is BS), but the charged was down graded. Has recieved a reprimand & 90 odd points. But, he will play on Sat.
  7. Although he was found guilty of a front-on bump against Port Adelaide’s Tom Logan, by downgrading it from reckless to negligent, it means Moloney escaped with a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points. Moloney is due to play his 100th game this weekend against his former team, Geelong. Just put on HS website.... Great news! Though, its crap he was found guilty!
  8. Sorry, but I must say I like Hughes. He attacks the ball hard & really puts in down in the forward line. Be fair to him - the ball was coming into the forward line last week very slow & crappy. Remember, it was only his 2nd game.
  9. Balls - we are getting the new oval that is next to the Pies (until they get their new oval), this is the one with the two large nets already up. One would assume we would start training there in early July (to tie in with us moving in to the complex).
  10. Personally, I think we need to taake a breath & remind ourselves that he has had played quite well the last 3 weeks. Yes, he had not a great game today - but, he was not on his Pat Malone there...... Voss played him for all of the 22 rounds last year - he cant have been that bad.
  11. Are you questioning our medicos & whether they did the right thing by Ricky? There is no way that our Doc etc would leave him on the ground if they thought that there was a risk that he would serious injury.
  12. Cant really say Dunn was lucky & he doesnt know what to do when we dont have the ball - if he was that bad, dont you reckon that the FD would take action if they thought it was an issue?? BTW - I though he did some good things last week & didnt consider him to be lucky to still be in the team.
  13. Again, Im just saying what the EXPERTS have said. Dont put words in my mouth. And to others, there has been studies done overseas.
  14. A lot of the medico experts say that wearing a helmet does nothing for protecting the head - just makes the player feel more comfy as he feels protected (placebo style)
  15. Hold on a sec there friend. Take a big deep breath. If Jack had a bad game - its not the end of the world. Just consider how the kid who played on him would have been so so keen to take on Jack & play well on him. Maybe Jack was outplayed & will learn. The club would have told him where he went wrong in their de-brief if there was any problems. Just because he didnt kick 5 goals & get 35 poss you want his head???????? You ask for evidence? Wait until he plays a few games in the seniors - wait even til he has played a full year before we go close to judging him. As I said, just take a big deep breath.
  16. Thought the numbers we got to the G yesterday was fantastic! Big well done to everyone who came along & for the people who didn't - you better bloody have a bloody good excuse for it!! Massive game this week, if we beat the tiggers (which we should) - we turn at after the first month 2 - 2. A great start to the year if we can. C'mon boys!!!!!
  17. Forearm. As a backman, it is hard to play in front all the time as you end up 2nd guessing what the forward will do - so, I would advise a youngster to use the forearm and either do it from right behind his backside or right beside him & dig it into his ribs. Btw - really really happy with the way our backline is combining with each other and backing themselves. Keep going boys!!!!!
  18. Bruce was not playing loose in defence early in the game (even though it looked like it!), he was actually on Osbourne - but was no where bloody near him at all! Dont mind guys like Grimes playing on the big names - the young boys have to learn sometime. Agree with who needs to play in the right pos's for us; Grimes (middle), Sylvia (half forward/forward), Davey (half forward), Scully (middle/wing) & Trengove (middle/wing).
  19. Its about time the players took some of the blame for how we play. A coach can tell & show players how to play - but they are ones who cross that line with the MFC jumper on. They are the ones who have to chase, tackle, show some application, some heart & some bloody brains! Senior players (read Miller, Dunn, Bruce) are the ones who have to pull their heads out of the coights & show something FFS!! At least some drive & G&T would be a start. It starts this Saturday boys. I dont care if we dont win (well, I do actually - it's the Filth), but I do bloody care that we show some application, some brains, some heart, some gut runing (and not just with the ball - run to position & run to man up!!) Forward line players - do not get sucked up the ground, the ball is been kicked to you (not the defenders!), stay where you bloody should! Maybe just maybe then when a ball is kicked into our forward 50 somebody might be in position instead of having to run back with the flight of the ball at 100 miles an hour to maybe take a mark. Forwards are meant to lead to the ball FFS. Also, dont all start near each other - isolate the bloody backmen, move away from each other - makes it hard for a backman to become "3rd man up" in a marking contest.Start deep some of you, the others out in the pockets & some up at CHF - not all together in a huddle.
  20. If anyone cant make round 1 (and they would better have a bloody good reason!!) - simple - go to the pub & watch it. Thats where I go when we play interstate.
  21. Miller didnt have the best year last year & did struggle towards the end, but - how do you know how Miller has been training this pre-season?? Yes, his first two games havn't been great (but, he hasn't been on his Pat malone in the forward line). Dont you think the FD would be in the best position to decide who is best to play with what we have on our list atm?? The midfield has not been neglected for the past 3 years. The footy club saw that the backline was in the worst state of the 3 different lines in the team & as history shows us, a team cannot climb the ladder successfully without a strong backline. In the past year the footy club has recrutited the best players available for the midfield & will next continue to concentrate of the forward line. Nobody is asking for blind faith - just what Jimmy said in yesterdays HS "show faith & believe in these guys".
  22. We ran out of puff on the weekend due to the fact we had returned from WA (prob late sun night/mon morn), where our opposition had the previous week off. It might be still pre-season, but it still shows how crucial during the week rehab is at this time of the year. Dont forget, we were 3 goals down in the last quater before it blew out a little. Btw - I personally thought our disposal wasnt too bad in the first quater (if we had of kicked straight, we would have been level & I know you will say "bad kicking is bad football".......) All in all, yes we still have a long way to go - but, we are moving forward & getting there. Go easy on the "oh we are crap" thinking. We are still still over 3 weeks til round 1. To be honest - if people like you have this "dooms day" mentality all the time, that will not help us with our cohesian (off the field) - we need ALL members to be on the same page & positive thinking
  23. But, you said to look at what St.K & Syd with their 3 captains? What should we do? Look at what theey did or forget about what other clubs have done??? This is also on the back of you saying we shouldn't have a captain - WTF??? Its a footy club - you have to have a captain!! You said earlier that Flash has only had 1 good year? have you been watching since he came to the club?? Beamer plays brain dead football - are you god dam serious??? (he btw is a serious leader on the track - something you said we need) Rivers overated???? What the hell have you been smoking pal??!!
  24. Thought Bail did some nice things - in particular in the 2nd half. You say LJ "not our saviour" - would be a tad foolish to think one player who played 9 games in his 1st year was "our saviour", seems to be a bit out of form (but was held very well by Fletcher & others), but seemed to do better when he was further up the ground. Rivers I thought did some good things (like normal).
