Very sad to see players like Mclean & Sylvia not there anymore........They should have been our leaders... The club started to rot! huge losses off the field, unstable board,no secured training base.no clear pathway for success & always in survival mode! As we know now culture disappeared & replaced with losing one & hoping early draft picks would be the way up! Players lost faith & treated poorly ( Macca etc) Schwab & Connolly drove a wedge into the list & destroyed the fabric of a club!

The gap continues to get bigger between the big clubs vs the smaller clubs! Collingwood posted a 5 mill profit with revenue of 75 mill! Afl are partially to blame with crappy stadium deals,unfair draws all driven by tv rights ratings that see big clubs play on prime time thus attracting better sponsors,membership etc Geelong make over 500K each game with 23k crowd...what the smaller clubs need is a similar set up....not continued afl rescue $$ The majority of MFC issues were from poor mgt......But as PJ said the gap is too big regardless

Just hope they pick a player that has hunger,passion,work ethic,willing to do whatever it takes! We dont want another Morton or Gysberts!

Spot on! We had the the wrong people make wrong decisions at the draft, but when your culture & development are crap I would say many other early picks in other clubs would have struggled at MFC. I think also that when drafting a kid you also need to look beyond talent like passion,hunger,work ethic.

Bottom line the club needs to draft on more than just good skills! Character,hunger & passion.work ethic We dont want another Gysberts! Rather have 18 Nathan Jones types running around!

Has the Roos & the MFC considered this guy? Tripple premiership Captain & coached by Matthews Experience Coach & his record was not that bad at the Lions 2-3 yrs under Roos will certainly help him further develop Still has the fire in the belly

Agree & maybe Schawby should do an article in The Age on how to destroy a culture & drive any decent players out of a footy club! As a football club we need now to control the current & future as a club of choice with culture & development! Whilst its great that Roos is the coach it appears that this may be short term & unclear of the coach in waiting scenario......Please take this as a negative rather as constructive as i thinks Roos will be great.

The world of free agency as many clubs are losing players & you have to question is this equalization as it appears the bigger clubs will just simply raid the smaller clubs who are not paying 100% of their cap. This just shows the train wreck of a club we have been for over the last 5yrs as the majority of early picks have left the club due to our poor culture,development,coaching. The Afl commission was set up in the 80s to basically save the game & stop bigger clubs just dominating the competition & by buying up the best players & stop clubs going broke by paying players too much A draft was introduced to create an equalization & allow clubs who finish at the bottom of the ladder to get early picks via the draft & a salary cap..... Whats happened in recent years is the opposite....how can smaller clubs like Melb,bulldogs,Nth,Stkilda etc ever improve when the Swans are allowed to pick up 2 champions & pay them in access of 1mill within 2 yrs after winning the flag & playing in a prelim this yr..... Is this equalization???? When you deny the MFC a priority pick after winning less than 5 games in 2yrs & yet allow the Swans to get such quality of players! This is a slap in the face when the whole concept of the salary cap would force clubs to let go of players when success occurred as the value of those players grew & they would be traded. Dont get get me started on the fixture of games which is controlled by tv rights who demand high profile clubs to play at prime time & grow their brands thus attracting better sponsors etc... Allow all clubs equal access to prime time exposure so that all have an EQUAL opportunity to grow their brands! Somehow I dont see EQUALIZATION in this MARKETING COMP

In business people move jobs for new challangers & more money etc The good organizations & footy clubs will always find good replacements & ensure their internal development culture see people develope to move into these vacant roles. Geelong lost Hinkley,Sanderson to other clubs & Costa was rapt he is part of a club that has developed senior coaches.

Better of without him.....dont need [censored] on our list & if you follow Roos policy on that,its a no brainer! Lets build & foster culture & development before we start looking at players who have huge personel issues. Rather have 2 or 3 more Nathen Jones type running around.
