  1. "Northey is easily the best coach"..Crap! Sacked @ every club he coached & couldn't get another gig after.

    A good ordinary coach. :(

What an absolute load of garbage, Swooper was an excellent coach, he left Melbourne and Richmond, he was not sacked.

  2. I would hate to be you. Or Bobby.

Such blind optimism. Not willing to see the big picture. Man, what a boring life you must lead.

How about I sit here and praise all our players after our blistering 0-4 start with a percentage of 12. You would like that, wouldnt you.

Bobby is one of the better posters going around and blind optimism is your specialty Tragic, do you happen to be related to Jaded?

  3. Unfair assessment of Bell and Petterd. Bell shut down his opponent, and was then forced to play on Franklin, who he did reasonably well against (given the quality of delivery and lack of Melbourne pressure). His tackling is superb, and so is his ball use, but when you are left all on your own to stand against Franklin, you can't be rebounding the ball and creating play.

As for Petterd, we should be thankful that he's alive, let alone playing with such courage.

Bulldust, Bell was uselless all day.

  4. Sylvia has been mentioned in despatches on at least three occasions for behaving badly, including domestic violence

Sylvia is a disgrace, their is nothing more dispicable than a man beating up his girlfriend, if the club had any integrity he would have been fired on the spot, high draft pick or not. I look forward to the day that this coward no longer represents the MFC and i doubt there would be any clubs who would want a moron like him on their list. Then again, he might fit in well with Leigh Matthews at Brisbane.

  5. However, am I the only one that thinks Daniel Bell is slightly overrated by our supporters?

I completely agree, Bell has proven (so far) he is nothing but a good ordinary run of the mill player....1 or 2 good games and that is it. He has a hell of a long way to go to prove he is worthy of pick 15, the jury is still out. Certain Melbourne supporters on this forum seem to fall in love with ordinary footballers who have achieved nothing for some reason.

  6. BTW Yze magic, Trapper a lazy [censored]? That's a disappointing call to make on anyone that's given the club 10 years of their footballing life. When did you pull a jumper on last? And if this is Travis how would you classify Yze?

Great post Brock, one of the best i have read...by the way, don't expect to get a sensible response from a [censored] like Yze Magic.

  7. Must suck knowing that no matter how well you perform at VFL level, the coach won't give you a sustained run in the seniors. That sort of lack of faith eventually takes its toll.

It's a bit hard to give him a sustained run in the team when he is pathetic every single time he takes the field.

  8. I am not one to spread unfounded rumours, but I have just heard a good one. My source (who is very close to an Essendon player's family), shall remain unnamed.

The proposed deal is that Melbourne take Ricky Dyson in exchange for Chris Johnson, in a rare player for player swap.

My original reaction was pretty skeptic, as I think they are two pretty similar type of players. But now that I think about it Dyson would be a good pick up. He's quick with very good disposal. The question is whether its a fair trade??

    Thoughts?

The differance is, Ricky Dyson actually showed something, Chris Johnson has shown nothing. Why would the Bombers want a dud like cj.

  9. Having said that, I'd definitely support Bev. It's about time women were taken seriously in this sport!

Why Jaded?....because she is a woman? She has been on the board since the Gutnick days and the club is in the same position. If she were to become president of our club it would make me sick to my stomach. We would be the laughing stock of the AFL if she were ever elected president.

  10. The amount of support for Brad Miller in this thread is frightening

And here I was thinking the supporters were ready to get tough and help kickstart a new era for the MFC

But a lot of you want to keep the deadwood

    Sad

    Sad and Typical

  11. "While it is very disappointing that Chris will be playing elsewhere next year, the club ought to be quietly satisfied that it had got itself from being a rank 'no hope' outsider to being very competitive in the pursuit, and ahead of many clubs who failed to even get his attention,” Harris continued on melbournefc.com.au. "This outcome will only sharpen the need for the whole club to work together to ensure we have fully competitive facilities and resources.

Steve Harris should realise the only reason he chose to look at Melbourne was his support of them as a youngster, it certainly hasn't been from anything he or Gardener have done to the club. They both are as useless as Szonby. This just shows you that the club has not advanced in the slightest. Near enough is good enough, we are a crap club, that no one respects and you can see why.

  12. It's a nice story Courtney but Stephen Newport was traded in 1990 for draft pick 6 that we used to get Alan Jakovich.

We traded pick 91 for Rod Owen in 1990.

Stephen didn't want to go, but the right decision was made.

Just to round out the story Owen was traded to Brisbane for pick 40 in 1991.

It was a joint deal, they were not seperate deals.

Melbourne traded pick 91 and Stephen Newport to StKilda in exchange for Rod Owen and pick six. StKilda drafted Adam Rudd with pick 91.

  13. I disagree, i think the key reason why they have won those 4 premierships is more because they have had a good quality Sandringham core with the Melbourne players filling in some of the gaps. Yes, we gave them Rigoni and Read who both starred in grand finals, but unless you've got the quality out there week in week out, you won't get very far.

In fact it's a testimate to how good their core is that they did so well this year with Melbourne's injury problems.

PS. What the hell was with the kicking this week? We handed the bloody game to NB.

I would be very sad if we were to end our relationship, and it would definately be to your detriment.

Would Sandringham have won any flags in the current system without being aligned to another AFL team, i think not.
