So would I. The three week penalty suggests a lack of certainty in the mind of the MRO/AFL. It should be either a 5-6 week penalty because it was a reckless action or nothing because it was an unfortunate footy accident. Three weeks smacks of a compromise trying to please all parties and effectively pleasing no-one.

I suspect the appeal will be successful.

Compromise or an opening of a door

Hey, if this is all this thread was, fine. But it’s not. It’s one thing to want Goody gone but it’s an entirely different thing to disparage him, insult him and blame him for every misfortune. it’s unfair and unwarranted.

There’s only one thing about this thread that’s equally as bad and that’s the exasperating repetition. It’s insufferable. Do people really think they’re saying something new?

    I'll ask you too

Why are you here if it's not your cup.of tea ?

Dont hang if you don't like the company or comments.

Just go do the other stuff you enjoy. Surely 🤷‍♂️

And for the record sts.... if some want to suggest Goody has $#@!'d up and were here lamenting as a result. Thats an opinion Some might even say it's their considered appraisal and I don't see why that's hard for some to stomach.

Where stuff has gone right we applaud. Where it's gone/going wrong it's fair game to suggest change.

If I was a last laugh kinda gal I’d say Goody ain’t goin’ anywhere. Oh wait, I am a last laugh kinda gal… Goody ain’t going anywhere 😂😂😂

Y’all can b!ttch & moan all you like. You can say the most disrespectful about Goody. You can bag him day and night and blame everything on him, but…

He’s our head coach for 2026…

    Get used to it 🤣🤣🤣

Why do so many have difficulty understanding the tenet of the topic.

'Time to go ' It's a suggestion. It's a valuation many of us share about should he or someone else continue.

I fully understand there's a better than even ( unfortunately) chance he will be there. But we aren't there yet. He has to show some better abilities to arrest our demise than are currently on display. Please don't think beating the Roos is the get out card to.any of this, or even a half baked Blues. But.. it's unlikely anyone at the MFC , quite frankly, would have it in them to pull that pin. Mores the pity.

All happy clappers can rejoice .

What's more important ? That Simon Goodwin is the coach or the team is given the best available at this current time. Im sure you'll suggest he is. I accept that's your position. Kindly accept some think otherwise.

I only care about the Club/team as it plays. The jumper is paramount.... Personnel/players come and go.

Yep ..there is ..we are getting better..the players are adapting to the game plan & as they do ..everyone & everything improves. Far from a finished product but the players were up & about on Sunday .. connected with each other & the coach. You’ve gone so far down the rabbit hole of negativity that you refuse to acknowledge any positives. Maybe stay of this topic… plenty of other topics you can vent your nonsense..

    Really..

Someone posited that the evidence is Concrete. You get what that infers.... solid, irrefutable etc.

I simply question that and you get your knickers in a knot. What a joke.

All we did was beat North. Yep better than losing and some aspects looked better. It was an undermanned Roos. Let's not get too carried away.

You don't get to cancel those that question things.

Hardly venting. You're overplaying your hand.

I have acknowledged positives. Not in this thread granted.

Again... are we as bad as suggested ?.. Logic says we have to be exactly as bad as we are and where ladder puts us. If we win more games....that might change. Let's see where the season finishes ..yes ?

  5. Nothing is ever quite what it seems with figures eh...

Invoking the exquisite thinking mind of the late Dave Allen .. I present...

So 30% are caused by drinking. Therefore 70% aren't.. So drink more and save lives !!

Now obviously this is a fallacy. But it shows how much context is needed to provide ANY relevance.

I know the O.P. sought to shine some sun on our predicament but I struggle to see much beyond the darkish clouds at present.

The ladder suggests we aren't much chop. I agree.

I reckon we're exactly as bad as we seem. But that's not 100% bad

Let's see where at come seasons end.

    This thread is so perfect.

Someone tries to present some slightly positive concrete data which shows we’re not that far off it and even makes sure to include some nuance and they’re immediately shouted down.

    Concrete Data ???

So Xerri has put Max down a couple of times, hit Jefferson with a forearm to the head, hit Lindsay in the head and Concussed Sparrow.

When the [censored] does the AFL hit this guy with some serious sanctions.

It doesn't. It's a joke, well it would be.

Just once I love our club to amble up to AFL house , rap on the doors with a Please Explain.

Then spread out all the inconsistencies. Esp as applies to us.

Never happen of course but I honestly don't know why we wouldn't/shouldn't. What are they going to do ?

Slightly ahead of myself, but just saw Melk is 8 games away from 250, so hopefully he gets another contract for next year. Unfortunately, he played 114 games for Essendon, so Frankie, Teddy and Alfie would be eligible for them for Father/daughter and father/son as well as us (which was the main reason for me checking his games played stat)...

Hell .... wouldn't you love to see Milky play out 300 !!

Look after him Dees .... 😉

Yes, some of you can stick to the topic. Currently 175 pages of people sticking to the same topic: everything Goody does is wrong. It is SOOOOO boring.

And this is where folk like your good self find reasonable assessments so hard to swallow.

As others here have already suggested. It's not about doing everything either right or wrong. It's about being able to affect successful results in a sustained manner .

Simply having attained a flag ( and kudos to all ) does not guarantee nor qualify you ever more. What worked, now doesn't. Who was successful, now isn't.

Some, I among those , question the ability of the current FD regime which by default has Goodwin as its major influence to bring home the bacon.

It's not an overly complicated premise.

Those that find continued dissatisfaction with the current trajectory and call for change will continue to do so unless we become successful.

If that'sboring.... go find another thread.

Why are you here boring yourself ?

I'll conflate as much as I like, thank you very much.

Do what the .... you like.. Easier to ignore what you have to say if you can't even stick to the topic.

    Some of us can.

Lever is a bit of a one trick pony and too prone to brain fades. All of his career. Its just that now he's slower it he can't hide it anymore.

Dunno about one trick Jnr. His forte has always been a chess like footy brain. He reads the ball very very well and even as he attacked the ball in flight he'd be preparing to give off..or hold for option's. A big thinker who had sublime agility.

He still thinks but his body won't play ball now.

Just for all the club knockers on this and other threads: have a look at the story in the AFL website about Disco and his family and see what the club has done RIGHT!

Stay focused. The thread discusses the ability and suitability of the current coach to that job.

Good the club looked after Disco.

    Try not to conflate unnecessarily.

Improvement is relative when you look at the trash we dished up in the back half of 2024

And it was a win against 16th who had two key players out. Hardly a sign we’re ready to storm the top four in 2026

DG.. we have it wrong you see. We're not appreciative of the small offerings when they come along. We beat a lowly team... and we aren't celebrating sufficient enough to appease those too easily appeased. Wow... we snapped a LOSING streak... should be champagne and oysters all round !!

It's far better to win. Had we not won that game we were truly rubbish. We're now slotted against another struggling outfit but I'm not chalking this up just yet as we know anything can and often does happen.

Nothing would actually make me happier than we went on from strength to strength... well from whatever and wherever we are ...upwards.

I really don't care who is the coach. I just want continued and persistent success for the Dees.

Should the team perform miracles in 26 under SG.. fabulous.

All I see currently is a lot of FeS2

    Some are easily sated.

I am genuinely interested/curious how rest of year plays out.

  14. 9 hours ago, Older demon said:

The elephant in the room is Lever. Rest him for the remainder of the season. 2 serious operations, no preseason have left him struggling to run and compete. TMac stays in andage shouldn't come into consideration form should. Winning is what it is about and not gifting games for the sake of youth. McVee is probably in the same boat . No preseason has left him a shadow of player he can be.

May comes in for Lever, Riv to cover Sparrow and Howes to line up down back. I am not sure Petty has fully recovered he was on ly doing run throughs at training last week.

Said this ages ago.. still do. He's never been 100% this year. He's got niggles that obviously haven't properly sorted themselves out. He was brought back in because the club panicked. This has served no one. Lever is a very reasoned, very professional player. It will be annoying him far more than it is any of us that he's not providing to his abilities. He knows it. He'll be frustrated .

In this game you only have to be a step off your pace or slightly hamstruck and you'll be way off the mark. .

If there are to be real learnings MFC... how about NOT playing guys 'til they're fit and brought up to speed properly ?? 🤔

Agree to all this but supporters are allowed to enjoy a win every now and again aren’t we?

    Who wouldn't have enjoyed yesterday's win ?

I did ..twice. Upon seeing final score and later watching replay as was working through game.

  16. 59 minutes ago, Nasher said:

Spargo for Sparrow seems obvious to me.

I see Lever and TMac competing for the same spot.

Is Petty an automatic selection when available? He’s probably a better player than van Rooyen and Jefferson, but I want to see the latter pair get a run together.

    What I’d do:

    In: May, Spargo

    Out: Lever, Sparrow

    What I think will happen:

    In: May, Spargo, Petty

    Out: McDonald, Sparrow, Jefferson

I laugh... as you're probably right...

    Hopefully not !!

You would be giving Melksham and TMac another 12 months on todays Performance.

Lever is now a serious liability, Playing him in such a crucial position has to be looked at long and hard

    Agree

The only caveat I will throw in is i have serious misgivings that Lever has really ever been 100% rtr this year. Agree , he's a bit of a concern presently.
