  1. Wrathchild, respectfully, the Bizz did not cut it at FF at Geelong. Whatever his place might be, he is no spearhead. I have been wrong on many occasions. The same, yes, could be said of Yze Magic re some of his extravagant predictions. But both of us have faith in PJ. He showed enough in the most important game of 2006 to be given another try. Biffinator.
  2. Hell will turn Methodist and take up line-dancing before Bruce is mentioned in the same breath as Hird. I hope to be proven wrong, but it is unlikely to happen for all of Bruce's many merits. Biffinator.
  3. Jaded, I never said that PJ was a holistic solution to our multi-tiered woes. But we have a specific vacancy to fill, and I have nominated a candidate. Biffinator.
  4. Sorry WJ - it was the Oracle But I will reiterate my original point, and Yze Magic are one on this cardinal point - it is imperative that PJ be given a chance, and some real ground-time Biffinator
  5. Comrades, I was there today, and i agreed beforehand with Whispering Jack - a truck was coming, and we were the ones in the middle of the road. Neitz will be out for a while. Newton has yet to play a game. It is time to play PJ at FF next week. Biffinator.
  6. John - I believe this is the original thread that you are referring to. I do not believe my original posting constitutes a bucketing in any way, as you so insinuate. It makes plenty of allowances for anyone who was hamstrung, so to speak, by injury, for instance. I also went out of my way to state that anyone who played for the Demons is to be treated with a fundamental respect. Nor did I offer comment on specific cases. Bucketing aplenty of a different weight-division can be found elsewhere, say, on Puntroadend.com. Prymke is one of my big disappointments, as he displayed his mettle well and truly in the 94 Final against Carlton, and then his troublesome back intervened. Now, does this constitute a venomous personal attack? Greg Healy is also on the list. he took one of the most courageous marks I have ever seen, but the knee injury brought down the show. having been a paid-up member since 1982, I am also aware in general (the mind is not what it once was) of your injuries as well. Now this is a general comment. None of us can escape criticial evaulation. I am under the microscope every day of the week. Dedicated fans have the right to express their hopes, fears and yes, disappointments in a forum such as this. God knows that many of us have suffered enough (in our way way) to earn this right. Yes, the expression of disappointment should be constructive, or at least, not a personal attack on the person in question, and my original posting was certainly not the latter. Respectfully, Biffinator.
  7. John - I am pretty sure I know the thread you are referring to. I did put in a number of disclaimers in general - that in many such circumstances, it was beyond a player's control (such as Paul Prymke) in terms of their final output assessed against the original expectations. It was not an out and out bagging in any way. I do apologise, however, John, for hurting your feelings. As I'm pretty sure I said on the original thread, or elsehwhere, anyway who plays footy of whatever kind, be in the red or blue or elsewhere, has got guts and courage. You have bled for the red and blue, and that is all that really needs to be said at the end of the day. Biffinator
  8. "I would have Neitz at CHF. Second option would be Holland." Dear oh dear oh dear. I will never live to see a 13th premiership if this sort of thinking prevails. Perhaps we can locate a time-machine down at Cash Converters if the first scenario is to be attempted. I am also alarmed by the chorus that greeted the possible resurrection of Wheatley - Number 31 indeed. PJ should be given a chance to prove himself as CHF - it is as simple as that. Before the injuries came to the fore, he was a high enough draft pick. He won a Liston medal. Give him some gametime. Leave Miller on the wing. Biffinator.
  9. Occo, it is these sort of comments that make me wonder whether or not you are an agent provocateur. Allowing Barassi to go to Carlton - a big mistake. Jolly to Sydney - yawn. Biffinator
  10. Comrades, more importantly, Miller needs to start kicking some goals to justify his position as our "official" CHF - or else he is a glorified link-man on the wing. One goal every three matches is not up to par in any way. Biffinator.
  11. Comrades. Holland to CHF smacks of desperation. If he ain't going to make it down back - remember Jack Dyer's words - he sure as hell aint going to make it up forward. All power to him, and leave him where he is - he is doing a good job. I am not going to pretend that I saw much of PJ when he won his Liston. I did see him against Collingwood in a NAB cup in 2004-ish when he destroyed the Pies from FF. When are we really going to give his guy a chance? The injuries have cruelled him. Whenever I hear - hell, he can't mark - I can smell a cliche. He would not have won a Liston if he regularly mimicked the Neitz-bounce-the-ball-off-me-head when he went for a mark. I sort of commented that Friday's night's team had a sameness about it. It was not really different in essence than the last three years. It had [censored]-whipping all over it. PJ as CHF or even FF if you like changes the dynamic or, in the very least, makes the opposition coach think differently about us compared with 04-06. I do not want a repeat of the last three years. MIller kicks < one goal for every three games he plays. Ummm, some CHF (though he too, clearly has his place). Let us see if this monster can play. Biffinator - a believer since Round 1, 1971.
  12. Let us not forget, Comrades, that he took his thirty pieces of silver and went back to live in West Horsham. After he retires, perhaps he can work in the Mitsubishi Factory, and cruise around the streets of Elizabeth or Salisbury for fun in a 1988 Magna. Good luck to them all. they will need it. Biffinator.
  13. Occo - Pickett as CHF??? Mate, you should check your brand of ciggies - or stay clear of the West End lager. No disrespect to Deeviator, but we need something a little bit different. PJ for me at CHF. Otherwise, it is a bit of a re-hash of the past three years. Biffinator.
  14. The Essendon Mouth-Breather can get his memberships and shove them up his clacker Biffinator
  15. And throughout this entire thread, I could not see a single mention of Peter Moore. Moore was a champion. He won two Bronwlows. Surely, he must command a place in our best team of the past thirty years. Biffinator.
  16. Absolutely correct. Stretch, Febey and Yze have all been fine players in their own way - but come on, gimme a break. Biffinator.
  17. The Price of Hubris Melbourne: Queens Birthday 1965 until Round 22 1987 (and we have yet to win a Premiership, so this second date is questionable). Richmond: Half-Time, 1982 Grand final to the Present. Carlton: Round 1, 2002 with no end in sight. Their desert will last well over a decade. Biffinator.
  18. Comrades, the answer, hopefully, is PJ - will he ever get a chance to show the world what he can really do? Biffinator.
  19. Does anyone remember Johnnie Howatt? Didn't he subsequently ply his wares at Richmond? Biffinator.
  20. Comrades, here are two more from the early eighties: Les Bamblett Michael Reynolds. Biffinator. The best David Williams moment IMO was the goal he kicked against Carlton in the last quarter of the 88 Preliminary GF. He was about 50 metres out with his opponent, with no-one between them and the goals. He lent forward against his opponent as the ball sailed over their heads, and then he ran back, picked up the ball and slotted it through. How we all cried with happiness. The day had come. But then Strawbs got rubbed out at the Tribunal, and it only got worse from there. . . Biffinator.
  21. Comrades. Please do not get me wrong - anyone who dons a Red and Blue jumper and then takes to the field should always command a certain level of respect. It is, after all, a man's game. Over the years, however, there have been players of whom it might be said that at their careers fell short of the ideal. As a supporter, one was left with a sense of longing for a much better outcome, all to no vivid end. In many such cases, the circumstances were beyond their control (say, a Paul Prymke). Here is my list: - Diamond Jim Tilbrook. - Kelvin Templeton. - the Fidge Clan. - David Schwarz. As much as he ended up achieving, O to erase that day in January 1995. - Michael Reynolds. - Adrian Battison. - Les Bamblett. - Dean Irving - Sean Charles. - Greg Healy - freed of the captaincy, he looked a much happier player. And then he suffered that knee injury. - Paul Prymke. - Earl Spalding. - Kelly O'Donnell. - Cutherbertson (sorry, I cannot remember his first name). - Jacko - in a sense. I would be interested to learn what other people think re this subject.
