You’ve clearly lost the plot. TMac had 17 disposals & 11 marks & you want to drop our best defender? [censored].

Well, not with Lever out injured I don’t 😜

    IN: May, Spargo, Petty

    OUT: Lever, Tholstrup, Sparrow

Good point. I guess hindsight is always there, you see where Hogan is now and it’s a deflating feeling knowing we could have genuine forward.

we had two; sideshow bob and plugger mac!

Crazy to let go of Hogan

Missed out on those 18 goals he kicked for Freo

And all we got was May and a flag

    plus sparrow

two premiership players for a future gw$ coleman medallist

Been that way for 10-15 yrs.

We got Hogan and decided to send him on his way.

Loads of great players have been given the boot. Insanity.

"decided" to send hogan on his way?? insomuch as doing that trade contributed significantly to our premiership, sure

the only other true key forward i can recall having on our list between neitz and hogan is mitch clark and, well, there were other issues at play there in the end beyond injury

we've definitely lost some ripper players to homesickness, but there's not many clubs who don't

I wish they add weeks to his suspension, in no way was he going for the ball.

that only happens to mfc players; reckon anb was the ONLY player to contest a 3 week ban and come out of the tribunal with 4

I think the problem is either/both are only coming to us if the money is absurd

the other issue is if we're giving away oliver for little (a second round pick), paying overs for flanders (two first round picks), and then paying the former $500k to play elsewhere and the latter $1m, aren't we better off just keeping clayton?

    i can't believe i'm missing clarry's 200th but alas, the hives

i'm not sure i entirely agree with this chat gpt summary (mostly cos abba do nothing for me; roxette were a far superior pop group), but rest assured that every cheer for howlin' pelle will be also directed towards the boys in red and blue at the g

The Hives are Sweden’s greatest musical export since ABBA—if ABBA had chugged Red Bull, set their amps on fire, and screamed at you in matching suits. Formed in the sleepy town of Fagersta in the early 1990s, The Hives burst onto the garage rock scene with all the subtlety of a marching band falling down a flight of stairs. Fronted by the inimitable Howlin' Pelle Almqvist—who struts like Mick Jagger after eight espressos—they quickly developed a reputation for high-octane performances, tight white blazers, and songs that last two minutes but leave you feeling like you ran a marathon.

The band claims they were put together and are secretly controlled by a mysterious Svengali known only as Randy Fitzsimmons, who, depending on whom you ask, is either their sixth member, their alter ego, or a figment of a very stylish fever dream. What’s certain is that Fitzsimmons (real or not) has penned nearly all their songs, and they have milked this mysterious backstory harder than a lactose-intolerant cow.

Musically, The Hives sound like a jet engine being lovingly tuned by Elvis Costello during a fistfight. They took over early-2000s airwaves with hits like “Hate to Say I Told You So” and “Main Offender,” managing to be both blisteringly punk and radio-friendly—like The Ramones if they’d discovered conditioner and choreographed stage moves. They became global rockstars while still somehow giving off the energy of five Swedish teenagers trying to impress their local youth center.

Today, The Hives continue to tour the world like glam-punk missionaries, spreading the good word of rock 'n' roll and reminding everyone that true greatness lies in three chords, maximum volume, and dressing like monochrome penguin gangsters. And if you ever see Pelle leap into the crowd with his mic held like Thor’s hammer, don’t worry—it’s all part of the sermon.

Goes no.1 in most other drafts.

As close to the full package as we've had in a while. Not just a great kick technically but a smart kick in the way he puts it to advantage.

Super quick thinker as well, I just love having him on our team.

lalor looks a jet, o'sullivan is super smooth, smith has been injured, draper looks good, and levi ashcroft looks like a gem

very, very happy with langford at pick 6, not to mention lindsay at pick 11

  9. had forgotten about spargo; his vfl game was excellent

    IN: may, spargo, petty
    OUT: plugger mac, sparrow, tholstrup

i love tommy, but if may is fit it's the only change to make - big body tall defender for bigger brute tall defender

tholstrup doesn't really play as a 'small' forward so petty can replace him in the forward line, while spargo gives the forward pressure position coverage in sparrow's enforced absence

the other one is howes might come in for lever, although i suspect he'll stay in the side

I am not in the ‘sack Goodwin’ band wagon but if we don’t go 4-3 in the last seven I’ll be pretty disappointed

    However …

If we lose to this north line up missing three of their top handful of players I will probably climb aboard

I’m absolutely scratching my head that they’re only one win behind us.

Admittedly, Essendon have such a lengthy injury list that it’s now an automatic 4 points when you play Essendon till the end of the season.

i live in thanks that we won't lose to them twice in a season, as playing an injury-ravaged peptides is exactly the sort of game where we kick 7.21 to lose by 3 or so goals

We let warner go on 1 summer to late. Should never have let him dictate when he got to retire. We needed to settle on an opening pair ages ago.

Mind you usman isn't going much better

usman's form is as bad as warner's was

what do the three k's - khawaja, konstas, and kettleborough - have in common? none of em can pick an inswinger

I get the call to cull and move on. But it's not going to be a quick fix. Who were the last teams to move on that number of former stars and rebuild? Hawthorn with Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis? They changed coach and took nearly 10 years to get back to it.

Collingwood post 2010? Again, change of coach and won a flag 12 years later (but almost won it 7 years later).

It might put us on track for the next flag, but don't expect it to happen quickly

    agreed

people seem to forget that hodge, mitchell, and lewis were well into their 30s by the time they left dingley - they've won one finals game since in a decade of seasons, and that was last year against a footscray side who just came to a stop midway thru the third quarter

the more apt comparison for us is not petracca and oliver but instead may and gawn

the filth changed coach not once but twice after their 2010 premiership before they won another flag; they are arguably one of the most well-resourced and professionally run football organisations during that time period

puddy tatts recruited not one not two but three generational players from other clubs - dangerfield, ablett jr coming home, and cameron - after their 2007, 2009, and 2011 salutes and still have only one flag to their name since

premierships are bloody hard to win
