I think it might bode many a supporter to prepare for not "winning" per se in this manner.

If per chance Trac is staying I'm not sure how that works too well if indeed he has indicated to all and sundry he wants away.

If he goes there's every likelihood we won't get the value some suggest. Why ?  Because it simply isn't manufacturable.  We'll end up getting what we get.

    What's the lesser evil ....

When you put a Signature to a significant long term contract, there are ramifications.
There is no way the MFC should go soft on this, if we do then we will become fodder to chuck around.
This morning on the radio I am hearing that Tracc wants to go to a “Better” Club, not interstate, but down the road.
The MFC are being beaten up over this, we have to dig in and stand firm.

IF he leaves it must be to a Club that gives the MFC the best outcome

My gut feel is that it's going to become so toxic that we have no choice but to move Trac on, and we'll be unlikely to get exactly the deal we'd like, though i suspect the return will still be significant.

I think we'll get 2 first round picks, and a good young player and Trac will get to one of the Blues, Pies, Bombers.

$1.7 mill per year for part of that contract.
I didn’t realize it was that high

The MFC cannot back down on this one.
I think at this stage there is a long way to play out…

  3. I cut a lot of Footy Stories in the 80’s and 90’s for ABC News with 2-3 different journalists, and we would be working flat out most of the time to get them finished.
I just want to say, i have never come across a story like this one. This has the potential to get really nasty on quite a few levels

I have no idea how it’s going to end, usually you can see the end game.
    But not this one.

I think that’s one of the big issue for us fans. To say ‘oh I want to go play for a big club’ after a large number of us spend our hard earned to go to games and support him, to then turnaround and say that is a real slap in the face.

It also tells us there are problems within the Club that need fixing

Too much has been swept under the carpet…

I still think he will most likely be a Demon in six weeks and we should plan accordingly.

I agree. I think serious meditation is needed between the parties. If The MFC are still not entirely sure what all the grievances are then, meditation sessions must happen soon.
At least we have 6 weeks…

I'm annoyed we don't have a home base.

but it wasn't a problem for Trac when he signed his 7-year deal so I'm not buying it's a problem for him now.

When the contract was signed, he may well have been promised that the Training Base was well on the way

Sadly I am starting to feel the Trac to Carlton move is inevitable - I mean once the Blue mafia gets hold it's a really hard thing to counteract and with him being an Italian boy, the passion and under the table dealing would be in overdrive.

Just look at almost all the big deals in recent years, from Jack Martin to Mitch McGovern to Zac Williams to Adam Cerra and the Blues have five of the highest-paid internals already - Cripps, Curnow, Walsh, Weitering and Harry, not to mention how much they had to fork out on TDK's deal. Luke Sayers is the master of legal deals apparently.

And they have a home base and it's just 30 minutes from Armadale.

I know it's unpalatable, but maybe we have to start building young stock before the draft is totally compromised again with Tassie. The Blues have pick 11. I know that and their future first rounder sounds cheap for a Norm Smith Medallist, but maybe we have to retool again to challenge.

We must not bend over for an adequate deal.

This situation must be sorted out Face to Face or we must get the very best deal possible for the Club, otherwise this will just weaken the Club too much

It would bring back memories of Fitzroy, who slowly died…

the only possible reason is the home base.

I think he really wants to leave for brand purposes and perhaps because he doesn't have faith in the list to win another flag. the rest is just post hoc rationalisations

Home Base would be a huge factor

    We don’t have one…

    Sammy Edmund this morning.

    Christian Petracca

“These are the facts as we know it. He wants to leave Melbourne. He wants to play for another club. He wants it to be a big Victorian club with all the resources that sit behind that,” Edmund said.

“Over the weekend and into yesterday he made it clear to the Demons that he wants to be traded with the five years remaining on that contract worth $1 million per season.

“Melbourne remain absolutely resolute publicly and privately that he will not be traded under any circumstances.

“I can tell you Melbourne aren’t even completely clear as to what his issues are, which is incredible.

“Depending on who Petracca talks to, it’s different. If he talks to the players, his issue is with the leadership of the club and when he talks to the leadership, his issue is with the players and the off-field stuff.

“The brand side of things has always been very important to him and then there’s even some who wonder whether his relationship with Ben Simmons on the other side of the planet had something to do with it all.

“The club is so disappointed and so bemused by it all. They’re completely perplexed. They thought it would simmer down, but it’s now abundantly clear that that’s not the case.

“Some relationships with teammates are going to need repairing if he is to remain there. There’s some real frustration there.”

    Yes i heard this.

The Club are still unaware of what all the issues are….

it’s a mess, but the Club must stand firm…

Time is still in our favour to sort this out

    Well this escalated pretty quickly.....

He said, but he said, no he said.....  well I heard he said he said he hadn't said.....

Mad Monday descended into FU all Tuesday at a great rate of knots !!

This is gunna end in tears..... lots of little Dees too young to understand why CP5 doesn't love us any more...  All those little jumpers with No. 5

Will no one think of the children...

    1) Very surprised if Trac is at the Dees much longer

    2) Who has the currency ??

    3) don't discount the Filth

    4) We won't get true value.....we never do.

    5) the sun will set and rise again tomorrow

    6) a lot more water to go under the bridge yet ;)

    No.
This one we have to dig in Hard.

If the Club bends over on this one, we are Stuffed, a 7 year deal was signed, big money.
IF there is a trade to be done in future, it Must be on MFC Terms

The curse has a h it of repeating itself! I agree with Lyon though needs to be a leader and suck it up and be part of the solution .. was ok when he signed for 7 years that comes with responsibility & leadership

The Club needs new personnel upstairs and the Football Department

But we cannot trade Tracc on a 7 year deal for McKay.
    That is capitulation

It has to dig in and remain strong. Fix the problems….

Anyways, you didn’t answer my questions.

    I have been a Demon since 1969

    An MCC Member since 1992

    MFC Member since 2000

I told you of serious problems last year, which you chose not to believe

I am waiting to see change inside the walls of The MFC

I’m fine with reading your truth, it’s the saturation of your truth that’s the issue. You trot out this generic type of phrase which really doesn’t mean anything.

Incidentally, you said:  “Depends how Serious the Club want to actually get there.” Your exact words. This begs two questions. (1) Do you truly believe our Club is not serious in wanting a premiership? (2) If yes, you truly believe that… why on earth do you stick with a club who isn’t serious about wanting to win a premiership????

    Are you talking to yourself?

I’m far more concerned with data scraping by data brokers and whatever Facebook is doing (even though I have a grey account), and with what vision companies are doing (particularly with images people take where me /my family are in them and they are posted to their socials without consent )

    Yep. It’s relentless.

I have a good mate who works for a Cybersecurity Company, he can’t say a lot, but it is a huge problem that is going to get a lot bigger in the next few years
