For mine the best player for us to trade would be Steven May( people are going to hate me for suggesting it). I think it makes the most sense as heâs the one player that a trade could work well for all parties.Â
He would could help a top 4 contender become a premiership team or the likes of North make finals while pocketing a massive pay packet in his last couple of years. Heâs still worth a good draft pick imo he improves so many teams in the short term.Â
ÂThat is just beyond ridiculousâŠ.

Because we have other priorities and big forwards are hard to come by.
Midfields win flags.
No idea if we're too nice. I think we just know what we want and get the deal done.
I do acknowledge that our trades post Mahoney have not been great, but we were also a premier by that stage with a cap that was starting to bulge.
So what you are saying is that we have wanted to Trade in Players for Casey??

You do realise that by facilitating moves for fringe players, which is what JJ was and doing the right thing by the player puts us in good stead with the powerful player managers.
This work doesn't occur in a vacuum. And player managers always speak highly of our club because we treat players with respect.
So why do we never get the big key Forwards? Something we havent had Since Neita
I understand what you are saying, but we regularly seem to get the worst deal out of a 2 way trade
Why is thatâŠAre we too nice??

Brilliantly said. And youâre spot on about Goody having the support of the players. He HAS NOT LOST A SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Â He has their love and support and they donât think heâs the reason we are where we are.
Â
Before the usual morons jump in⊠I know this because I talk to the very people involved. I talk way more than Iâd ever let on here because I wonât betray confidences.
Doesnât mean a thing if the Gameplan isnât workingÂ
This is not personal, i am sure there is genuine love between Goody and his playersÂ
But the results donât lie, Goody continues to say âwe will learn and get betterââŠ
Something continues to not be workingâŠ.

I do miss JJ. Granted his ceiling was low but he was a very consistent performer and his floor was good enough to be a starting player.
He could've helped us so much this season in the midfield.
I have mentioned JJ a number of times, once again, he is given free passage to go the Swans, making them stronger and we are left with Casey Regulars
Itâs like a 12 point turnaroundÂ

I really don't think it's worth trading Salo.
He's a close member of the team, he won't net us anything anyway and he doesn't have much longer to go on his contract, nor would he be anywhere near the dollars of Trac or Clarry's contract.
It simply doesn't make sense, and risks cultural blow backs as well.
I get you're frustrated by the injuries, but it's not a great move.Â
Support him. See if you can get 10-15 games out of him again (he's played 14 this year) and show Melbourne people (he's a premiership player afterall) that they are valued and not things to be given up on and thrown out when it all gets a little hard.
We have to rejuvenate the list, nowÂ
Changes have to be made, or else we will be in 17th spot real fastÂ
Tasmania is not far awayÂ
i understand your sentiment, i love Salo, his cafe was close to my homeÂ
he is a Premiership Player, but he cannot play at top level anymoreÂ
It is a brutal industryÂ

That's exactly the problem with our list - we keep wanting to give players like Laurie, McAdam, Smith and so on more chances, even though they've proven time and time again that they're not up to it. You could say the same about Salem given his past three years. At some point you have to rip off the bandaid and move on.
Spot on.Â
ÂWe Must Trade for Players who are ready to play Senior Football straight awayÂ
We let Bedford go to GW$ and we still hope Laurie will make it, not only do we lose a good quick player, we make GW$ betterÂ
and that doesnât mention other blunders who cannot even get a Senior Game when players are injured.Â
It is a complete F$&@ up -

I still dont agree Im afraid.
Our forward 50 in 2020 and 2021 wasnt mediocre as it had Ben Brown who was still playing reasonable well and TMAC was also playing quite well in those years. Both Brown and Tmac kicked less than half the goals they kicked in 2021 in 2022 and beyond.
Jackson was also a factor when he moved up forward. I feel that Jackson was actually a massive loss that we never really replaced. Because he was a utility he could move to many positions/roles and Grundy was never that.Â
Id argue that the weakness such as the forward 50 became more apparent in 2022 because BB and Tmac were getting on and we didnt have any replacements.
And now we lose Brayshaw after trading out Harmes and Jordan.Â
There is no doubt we have had a lot of bad luck, but so do most clubs.Â
We just have not recovered well.Â
We need to employ more recruiting staff around the country -

Yeah Ive heard this but different versions ranging from Max telling Goodwin to let Jackson stay out there as he was already going well, Gawn talking Goodwin into allowing Jackson to start and your version.Â
You can hear the conversation during the 21 GF documentaryÂ

You do realise that Sydney not only have had the COLA salary cap bonuses, they've got academy accesses that has enabled them to grab pretty much all their elite players (captain Mills, Heeney, Gulden and Blakey are all academy).
Like imagine if we'd just needed a bunch of junk picks to pick up those 4.
Comparing the QLD and NSW list management builds to any other club is ridiculous and not comparing apples with apples.
As for Geelong and Collingwood, they've had at least 2 champions each in the 21st century that were father sons. That's luck. Not real list management.Â
Compare that with us. We've had one in Viney.
The advantages to Sydney have been incredible, going right back to the 90âs.Â
The League get moist when Sydney are winningÂthe advantage is far too much, but until other Clubs rise against it, it will continueÂ
imagine Tony Lockett walks in Followed immediately by Lance Franklin!!! He was supposed to go to GW$, but the League were just happy in reality that he was in NSW.Â

Jeelong are the Sleepers with all their land deals. These should all be declaredÂ

Stafford must go, even if it's to full time ruck coach but we need a proper forwards coach and tbh I'd love Chaplin on too. Backline has gone backwards and it's as predictable as a May kick in.
I donât think Goodwin will go either, but this continuous push for âContest & Defenceâ has gone too far. They are important elements, but the balance is out of alignmentÂ
We need to get Run and Flair into the side. Look at the way GW$ carved us up wide on the âGand a Key Forward, maybe JVR or Jefferson will be going forward, but i still think we need to Trade in a Forward for 2025
Fullarton, Schache and McAdam gave us a big zeroÂ
I think the whole Club needs a fresh start, last off season was a very bad time

That was the modus operandi decades ago, these days they are precise, careful and play by the book and have become quite adept at managing the cap. The consequences of not doing it by the book are too drastic today.

Rebuild Time WERRIDEE Style
in Melbourne Demons
I couldnât give a Dam about what they do
We need to be be more proactive.Â
You have always been bullish on this list Roost
It has been diluted of talent over the last 3-4 yearsÂ
