You have to wonder what really was the brief.
Results to date... ???
I suppose we have to wait till season's end. Apparently the results this year on top of recent which spell out T.. R ..E.. N.. D just aren't convincing enough.
I hope we don't look back in Spike Milliganesque manner... if you know the Tombstone quote ... you'll understand.
“I told you i was ill…”

I was simply talking about whether it’s all the Coach’s fault and should we burn possibly close to a million dollars, or examine what else can be improved.
I think we need to examine all the parts unemotionally, which I am not convinced you are suggesting, then do what is needed to get success.
I agree with you Red.
But wasn’t all that done last during the offseason??

I think the same will apply to WA supporters in the near future. I don’t care if the NRL premier comp struggles, I’m an AFL supporter. I’m remembering the great interstate clashes of the past that allowed we MFC supporters to watch Robbie weave his magic for the big V when we were a basket case in our own comp. There will soon be 10 AFL teams who are not going to make the finals in any one year. State of Origin gives those supporters the opportunity to see their stars perform at the highest level.
State of Origin works because the 2 States involved genuinely Hate each other.
It’s Real.
State of Origin can only work between 2 States

1 hour ago, whatwhat say what said: tony hall doing his knee while being tackled by his hawks' teammate andy collins was the end of state of origin
good yarn here: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/they-were-the-greatest-games-on-earth-so-why-did-state-of-origin-die-20230517-p5d8zk.html
I was at that game. The Surface of the MCG was disgraceful in 1989

Then comes the intangibles which you can’t control …key injuries at the wrong time ..players just simply out of form …& to quote Goody simply trying to meld the old & young with a new game plan. I’m totally disappointed with the season because I reckon if one of Trac or Clarry had played to their potential & if one of May or Lever didn’t get injured ,.I firmly believe that would have been enough to make the 8 but I had no illusions that we would go deep, I have seen enough of our game plan to see an exciting 2026 going forward. What is irrefutable is that Goody has the players back & they have Goody’s back. Put me in the “hand clapping majority”.. I don’t really care. I truly believe Goody will be coach next year.
But it does my head in that the usual “Top Clubs” are always up there, regardless of the speed humps. They dip for a maximum 1 year and then Climb straight back up. But not the MFC…
Guys are getting paid around $ 1Mill a year inside this Club (Certain Coaches and Players) so i expect a far better output
So many other Clubs just get on with it….

At least, that's the theme. Brisbane, WB, Geelong, and GWS supporters might have had the heretical view that their lists were as good as, or even better, than ours.
Of course, it is possible that the list was very good but not perfect and that Goody did a great job in winning a premiership.
But why were we not able to attract A Grade Talent? List Management and Free Agency is critical every off season….
we certainly let some very good players go, and they were replaced by Casey Regulars (Grundy aside, that’s a different discussion) 4 Years on and we have won 6 of 28 games.
We cannot go into next year with the same Template

That does not mean we don’t get bitterly disappointed when we lose or we don’t question the coaches but you seem to think your analysis of a “true” supporter means you must show negativity and blame. Goody will be coach next season and who knows how many pages this embarrassing thread will be up to by seasons end ..guess it just makes you feel better and “cranky”.
Do you think this years performance is acceptable DS?
You are quite happy to let things roll on into Season 26?

I don't
You can’t win hey BZB
Even when you say you hate losing certain people still vomit at your answer.
I Hate losing too, it sucks, particularly when 4 years ago, we were the number 1 Team in the Country, by a fair margin.
Such a shame we couldn’t trade in some A Grade Talent after ‘21. I am still wondering why that didn’t happen….

The first would be putting everyone on notice. A mini review. Not the waste of time review earlier. ( that's had wonderful results )... no, a better than cursory look at who's doing sfa to benefit the playing group. You'd run your eyes across the F.D. across coaching .. across the lot.
Who's essential, who's not. Who's f'ing up who's not.
Start negotiating with Simon. Everything IS negotiable. If you think it's not.... you've not negotiated 😉
Start short list of coaches available... up and comers, seasoned etc. Look to get fresh eyes , fresh ideas.. An aspirant together with experience mentor for mine is the ideal.
F off all the FD cloggers.
Inform the List Managers to sharpen their quills... we getting seriously jiggy jiggy ar the trade table.
In conjunction with that get better understanding of who can go, who stays.. contract exposures etc etc.
Time to prune the Rose bush.... lest it dies.
The first step is admitting there's a problem.
Currently we don't
I'd also address the playing group. Inform them the current state of play is not good enough. There will be change , there will be improvements. They would be told they are either part of the solution...or part of the problem. Everyone needs to understand the status quo will change.
Get on board or get out the way.
Yep. No point in waiting. We have all seen what is presently on offer

What other Club has had the same fundamental problem for so long??

Professional footballers need to look in the mirror!! Players need to be held accountable!
While I’m not made on the coaching panel - just repeat the stat:
1 goal
6 behinds
2 on the full
When you are dominating you need to put the score on the board!
I remember Grundy said the thing he noted about Melbourne was how much time they spent on goal kicking!
Sometimes it’s the players!!!
Not when the Same problem has been there for 4 Seasons. You can’t just HOPE it rectifies itself

I think we are mentally and physically weak.
I do think we have so some very good players and some too old or past best 22.
I think it’s the strategy we employ or football direction we employ that is terrible, Why for instance Kick backwards with only 1 minute 30 left and you are a couple of goals DOWN.
FFS you are trying to get the ball forward ( quickly) and win. FGS (pardon the profanity ) as I yell at the TV . Sorry darling.
Just as well we do not have kids. It’s up to others with football smarts, I am too old. Too stuck in my own ways.
We need a clean out , some players but more strategy and direction staff. For instance. The players do not need to love each other or the coach .
Respect is different. And we cannot kick for goal and we are not fit enough mentally or physically. I will read this thread twice more.
Agree with this. I think our problems are more Coaching than players.
Coaching includes Fitness and Hi Performance Staff. We are not prepared to a High enough Level.
Players who are totally focused do not miss the shots we had at Goal in the First Quarter
