  1. I dont understand the NEWTON bashing that continues, people say he has no forward pressure, he is top 5 in forward tackles in the league this year when he has played.

He would make an ideal 2nd marking forward. I think everyone expects him to be the next Johnathon BROWN.

The critisism he recieves by so called supporters is uncalled for.

I know in the past he has lacked 2nd efforts up forward but he has worked on it, and if you weren't so negative towards him you would see this.

Not only will he not be traded or delisted this year but he will play round one next year barring injury.

Please band with me and get behind Newts.

    :)

Footy is a multi million dollar game now Parma.

How Many chances does a very average player get?

I wanted Newton to play well this year, but he didn't & he certainly has had his chances, considering we have been a crap side for 3 years.

Christ if you cannot get a game at melbourne at the moment, you obviously have serious flaws.

I want top line players at the Demons, Not Hapless hacks. We have had enough of that in the last 45 years.

3 more games to go ....

Love a good chicken Parma with Vegs...mmmmmm

  2. I disagree.

For starters, I think Davey'd find a spot in the 22 of either grand finalist this year.

If Green was fit and in form I think he'd be handy, particularly with the decreased attention he'd get playing alongside some very good players.

    etc.

None of our Players are consistent enough at the moment. 1 good week 3 bad ones.

It's the main improvement i want to see next year.

None of our players would get near a GF side in 2009. Take off your rose coloured glasses please.

  3. I'm pretty sure it was in the first quarter WYL.

I remember it as the 3rd Q, as the shadows were getting long, But as i got to the ground at 1AM the previous night to get a seat in the Members

I may be wrong, but i was sure it was in the 2nd Half. That whole day was rather surreal!

  4. Wheatley never played well in big games? Rubbish! I recall a match in, perhaps 2006, against Essendon when Hird starred for about 20 minutes until Wheats was put onto him. Thereafter Hird's influence minimal and W kicked a goal himself from the HBF. On the way home we heard Hird say W was one of the hardest opponents around.

When we had a pretty good team, and we did play 2 rounds of finals in 2006, he was a bloody good player. Last year, admittedly a shocker for the club, he was 3rd in the Bluey was he not?

His season never got under way this year. I'd like him to play on another year. Young players benefit by playing, early in their career, alongside fellows such as Wheatley.

He doesn't have a single, serious chronic injury does he?

2006 we were knocked out of the Finals in the second week by the Fremantle Shockers. I don't consider that a satisfying year.

Sorry i am a hard marker.

Wheats had the ability but just couldn't match it with the elite when it really counted.

He had a big heart though i am not questioning that.

Wheats is more remembered in the pre season games than in the reguliar 22.

The Danniher era is almost gone...

  5. According to everyone's fav person (Hutchy) on TFS, Wheats, Robbo & Wheels have all been informed that they will not be required next year.

According to Hutchy, Robbo was as late as today going to retire - but is now keeping his options open (i.e Bulldogs).

Please Russ - retire, I know you would love to play on - but, us mad Melbourne lovers here & everywhere dont want to see you in another club.

Thanks to all 3 - 3 great clubmen.

I agree Robbo, please don't wear another jumper. It's not Right. You are a Demon not a dog.

But it is your decision in the end.

Good Luck to all the boys, & i Hope the club always welcomes you Back, & you can Help our young recruits if they ever ask for advice..

    GOOD LUCK.

  6. You really need to check your facts, he didn't come back until round 22!!

That's some faking, he must've been quivvering in his boots.

Michael would have been quietly pleased he had that injury in Round 9. I am only passing on what the ox told me & he certainly wasn't joking 45. As i said Team mates thought they had let Troy Down & if Long had Played it would have got Ugly.

The Tribunal has evolved a lot in 10 years. Probably because of that incident.

  7. Not to mention the fact that you didn't respond to the hypocrisy involved in calling one player a "pathetic creature" for a moment of madness, but proudly stating that 3-4 Melbourne players would "biff" him. The Melbourne players wouldn't be "pathetic creatures" for hunting him down and attacking him would they?

Look as i said Longs actions could have killed simmonds. He was a Lucky Boy.

Whether it was right or wrong the players of the day wanted some retribution.

It was in the 3rd Q Essendon were Miles in front & Long knew Exactly what he was doing. I won't buy that "moment of Madness" Rubbish

It was a despicable act that had no bearing on the Result, Thus i have no Respect for Michael Long from that day forward, which is a shame as he could play.

Watch the incident in slo mo, you will understand what i mean.

  8. Not really my point.

Fine, but don't acuse me of re writing History because i don't do that.

Troy was only young back then & a lot of the team thought they had let him down that day.

That was the sentiment i got from the ox.

All i will say is that it was probably a good thing Long didn't take the field against us in 2001.

  9. Nice re-writing of history.

We played them once, in round 8, he went out injured in round 5 and didn't come back until Round 22. Mysterious "hammy" my arse.

Further to this, how can you compare a moment of madness, with proudly proclaiming that 3-4 Melbourne players would maliciously "biff" him.

I sure hope you're not a Grinter fan.

He had the character to publicly apologize for an act he regrets. Hardly a pathetic creature.

I know why Long never played against MFC again.....hamstring injury....But dont let that wreck the fantasy that he was scared.

Did you work on the conspiracy theories with the Ox over a few bevvies??

The conversation with the ox was had, i am only telling you what was told to me.

What Happened to Troy left a very bad taste in quite a few Melbourne Players Minds & they were waiting for the Re match.

Whether you wish to believe that is up to you.

  10. Is it because he retired the next year?

    Rubbish statement.

No it is not Rubbish Statement at all. 3-4 melbourne players had Long in their sites & he Knew it.

Back then you could still get away with a bit off serious biff.

Our 2 Matches against Essendon the Following year Long had the mysterious "hammy" injury.

  11. At his best he has been one of the most important players in the team Geddy Lee. He has had some very good years. Of course you are going to be ordinary if you can't get fit

If Wheatley was one of our most important players it just showed why we never won The Big Important Games.

Wheatley never starred in big games. A Good ordinary player. He Tried i have no doubt but would never make a Top Side.

  12. I would have thought that if they were going to give him a send-off game at all it would be the only one we might win.

There's no sadder end to a career than getting chaired off (or not) after your last game in which your team has been smashed by the eventual premiers.

Robbo & Wheels will play in round 22. If they are to retire it should be the last game at the 'G

  13. We Have lived on the Bottom of the Ladder for three years.

To me that says nobody on our list is untouchable, because i doubt any of our players AT THIS Moment would make the 22 of a TOP SIDE.

The next three weeks are critical to our ongoing list.

  14. I think Long is a racist.

After Long Hit Simmonds I heard an old Bloke in the Members Just Yell out "You are a coward Long" I thoroughly agreed.

At Games end I waited To Hear Nieta's speech, & Long get his medal so i could boo the [censored].

    Then i left in disgust.

Long sent an open apology to the Age about 10 days later. Pathetic Creature. No Respect.

  15. Heard the latest from Carltank supporters today. Deal is - Scully to Carltank, Fevola to Freo, Pavlich to Dees. My answer we are after long term greatness not short term fix its. I don't like all this talk from Carlton people about Scully.

And How do these evil carlton vultures plan to enforce this trade??

The AFL has moved on from paper bags of cash under the table.

    Carlton should just shut it.

  16. I understand where you're coming from. However, the term Carltank is a pretty unambiguous reference to Round 22, 2007. We on Demonland used it to bag them for trying to lose that match to get the PP. I stand by my comment that no pro-tanking/list-management Melbourne supporter should use that term. It stinks of hypocrisy. That's really what I wanted to get at.

All that aside, if we don't beat Fremantle this week there wouldn't be much greater satisfaction than beating Carlton and stuffing up their finals campain. It's bad enough to think that they're actually going to play finals.

Football is a tough game on & off the field.

Back in 2007 i had no problems with Carltons "Tanking" as they were doing it within the Rules.

I was far more disapointed that we let them walk over us in that round 22 match, although i would not be suprised if our caretaker coach of the day Mark Riley had already committed to the Carlton assistant job going forward.

That is what made me feel sick.

  17. So it's okay to bag Carlton for 'rorting the system', when we all advocate trying to lose games instead of trying to win?

It doesn't matter what Carlton did. The fact is, we are rorting the current system by choosing not to win games when we could be.

If we are going to call for the club to lose games to get a PP, we must stop insulting other clubs who did the same.

Carlton Cheated in many ways over decades. They ran their own race & were proud of it.

The Current Priority Pick rules Stand, bought in by the AFL. The MFC is not cheating at all. We have 40 odd players on our list & can pick whom ever we like to take the field, as it stands now we have 26 available players i think.

I am not a great fan of the present PP system but i don't like your inference that our club is cheating. Coz it aint.

I am not saying we or any club is squeaky clean, but cheating it is not.

Don't forget the AFL has been watching our ongoing business plan for a good couple of years very closely.

We are not in the same league as carlton.

  18. I would have thought that, by now, you two might have the sense to stop using that term, given the team you support.

Carlton did nothing that we haven't done.

I Beg Your Pardon-You obviously know nothing of Carltons History Between 1965-1995.

The Rorted the systems in place at will. I suggest you do a little reading.

  19. Just keep playing the kids..That is paramount.

Experience for them is what we need.

There are still 12 Points up for grabs in the ether, that we really don't need (I hate saying that!!)

Our win for the year will be on draft day, so its business as usual for the next 3 weeks.

Play the Kids & the Fringe Players. Who will stay for 2010?? That's what we need to know.
