  1. Oops and who would have thought it possible.....

I'd run away from that post as well. Seems a theme running there.:P

HaHa! Not much gets through to the keeper with you does it Rhino!! Bloody Classic mate!!

  2. On MMM Robbo does special comments on Saturday night and said he was going to attemp to take mark of the year and told all Melbourne fans to come along just for that.

Well i am on him to win the car, shaun smith Style! Go for it Robbo!!

  3. Its going to be an interesting finals series. A couple of months ago is was a lock for Saints v Cats. Now its opening up.

It is frightening to think that Collingwood are a genuine possibility. God help us. Anyone but them.

    Odds have tightened up.

    ST KILDA 3.00

    GEELONG 3.40

    COLLINGWOOD 3.65

I suspect the odds will get very tight by next sunday night.

If Hawthorn Get in, they could (Big ask i know) do some damage.

They are a september club, they better get Roughead out of hospital quick smart!

  4. I just HATE the idea of Robbo playing in another Jumper.

I understand his position but its really cutting me up to contemplate it.

He is gonna try & kick a bag next week, i can feel it.

  5. there would be riots in the crowd at the end the melbourne cheer squad was sitting, Bailey would be sacked, effective immediantly and deported. The assistant coaches would be looking for a new job next season and the 22 players that took the field that day would have their contracts ripped up and they would never again represent the MFC :P

What a strange world we live in! Half my family barrack for the saints, next sunday will be wierd, i may need stimulants in order to cope!!

  6. A times we are awful and Carlton are better team than us but we left little to chance.

By the on field structure we had at times we were certain not to do a North or Freo this week.

    Lucky we were experimenting..*Cough*

Did you read the article sheeds wrote in todays paper RR? Interesting perspective i thought.

  7. is the saints late form a concern for them, they have a habbit of dropping good season.

could this late form drop effect there finals?

Of course it could. This will be the real test of Ross Lyon & his footy Dept.

They Have been superb but the job is not done yet, & no doubt the supporters will be restless for all of this week!

Sadly the Filth are looking the goods right now...

Its a long season, & each year the bar is raised.

Its pretty even for the whole eight at the minute.

A wet Day could bring any result.

    Should be a good ride.

  8. I mentioned this in another thread, but I feel it warrants it's own.

How pathetic was it that the channel ten commentary team didn't know that Robbo had moved up to third on our all time goal kicking list? When he kicked his fourth yesterday and celebrated equaling Lyon, the only remark was to wonder why he was celebrating so much. When he kicked his fifth and players ran over to congratulate him there was nothing. I simply can't understand how supposed professionals could come to a game and be entirely ignorant of a milestone like that.

It was Commentated by Andy (imbecile) Maher & Tim Lane. What do you expect!

Big Crowd next sunday Guys- Lets give Robbo & the whole team a great send off for 2009

  9. Sorry, went off line and couldn't connect to Demonland at the vital moment when the Scorps won the game.

The final quarter was a heartstopper with Williamstown kicking a couple against the wind. Casey showed a lot of guts to come back with with great courage and Faulks kicked a long bomb at the 31 minute mark to give the home side a five point lead. Casey attacked for two moments of nervous excitement with Lees taking a mark and the siren sounded as he lined up for goal. The result was a point but it didn't matter. Casey had finally won a close one.

Ruckman Tim Mohr benefitted from Mark Jamar's inclusion in the Melbourne side. He kicked three goals in a close to best on ground performance.

Thanks for your updates KC, for some of our young guys to have a crack in the final series will be invaluable.

    good stuff..

  10. Good article by sheeds today, talking about percieved Tanking.

Sheeds "List Managed" in '93 with a bunch of kids & bagged a Premiership, Today he would be accused of Tanking.

Tanking is a Media Word that pi$$es me off.

I recommend all to read the article.

By Playing all our kids in different positions Bails & the FD know what we have in stock, & what we need for the Future.

Just means he is a diligent coach to me.

    Well said Sheeds.

  11. McLean had a decent game against Freo.

And he hasn't done any PS speed work and his season has been stop-start with niggles - he may not be injured now but he hasn't been able to build a decent base of fitness.

And anyone alluding to us 'tanking' against Carlton are delusional and arrogant.

Carlton are at least a 6 goal better team than us.

We didn't need to try to lose, we are just that awful.

Rotations were down yesterday, i don't believe we have ever been Tanking myself, but Bails was being conservative yesterday.

  12. This finals series is going to be so epic. All the top 4 teams are evening out now so it'll be pretty exciting to see who actually makes the GF. Carlton vs Essendon in the first week of the finals will also be huge, might even go! 95k+ crowd ;)

Yes Carlton v Essendon will be epic, 10 year anniversary! I am going, (just Paid the MCC Membership!!!!) gotta get my $$$ worth.

Saints lose 2 in a row....Collingwood are the Fave right this second....Hideous!!!!

  13. JMac will play off the bench next year for sure.

With all our new Young Midfield Players Junior will Hopefully be used as an impact player in short Bursts.

His Decision to play on worries me, but he must be Fantastic around the club. The article Flanagan wrote on him mid year is beauty.

JMac is a class Human Being. I just hope he is ready for 2010 at his age......

  14. Agree. Also he will be a better player with quicker and more talented players around him.

Yes i hope you are right. I know Brock has opened his wallet for the club so his heart is definately in the right spot, but he needs help in the form of speed in the middle.

Maybe he is more like a greg williams type player-bullet like handballs fed to runners.

Time will Tell, but we must be hard on him next year-no passengers...

  15. Just saw the Centrebet have opened the books on the 2010 Premiership.

We are equal 12th with Port Adelaide at $67.

Below us are Richmond $81, Fremantle $101 and North $101.

    Full list.

    ST KILDA 2.85

    GEELONG 4.50

    COLLINGWOOD 5.25

    CARLTON 10.00

    WESTERN BULLDOGS 10.00

    ADELAIDE 17.00

    HAWTHORN 17.00

    BRISBANE 21.00

    WEST COAST 41.00

    ESSENDON 51.00

    SYDNEY 51.00

    MELBOURNE 67.00

    PORT ADELAIDE 67.00

    RICHMOND 81.00

    FREMANTLE 101.00

    NORTH MELBOURNE 101.00

Not Bad, i would even have us higher than sydney myself. Worth a few $$$ that one.

  16. by Whispering Jack

So bizarre was the scenario that was painted for Melbourne's penultimate game of the 2009 season against Carlton that it was reminiscent of a story of heroism that could have come straight out of the movies. However, the tale that comes to mind isn't from one of the epic sagas like "High Noon" or "Shane" but rather more of the style of "Blazing Saddles".

In that film, Politician Hedley Lamar tries to take over Rock Ridge in order to put his railroad through the town. His early attempts to intimidate the townsfolk almost work:

Reverend Johnson: "Now I don't have to tell you good folks what's been happening in our beloved little town. Sheriff murdered, crops burned, stores looted, people stampeded, and cattle raped. The time has come to act, and act fast. I'm leaving."

Not all of the good people of Rock Ridge are frightened so easily and most remain defiant. So Lamar has comes up with Plan B:

Hedley Lamarr: [to himself] "A sheriff! But law and order is the last thing I want. Wait a minute... maybe I could turn this thing into my advantage. If I could find a sheriff who so offends the citizens of Rock Ridge that his very appearance would drive them out of town."

Now, as Robbie Burns used to say about the best laid schemes of mice and men, "they go often askew". Black Bart, the new sheriff, has a different plan - he becomes the hero. Lamar's grand plan backfires and he ends up a ruined man.

And now back to the football.

    Totally love "Blazing Saddles" HaHa!!

  17. Firstly, you accuse him of being selfish for playing possibly injured when it quite clear the Club would be aware of it. If supporters are seeing issues with McLean and have done so for awhile then its fanciful to think that the Club would not be aware.

Secondly, how do you know if he is injured and what his injury is and that it will make his recovery worse?

Who would you have selected in his place that is actually fit at the moment? Trent Zomer?

But if he is injured then great care should be taken with him. I would prefer him to be put on the injured list next week and let Wheels run around on one leg.

I know as much about Brock's injury situation as you do RR.

On yesterdays form i would hope he would be carrying an injury, because he had no influence on the game.

If he is fit then his days could be numbered. A major concern for the club.

I will give him this pre season in credit, but he must improve drastically next year as the list cannot carry sentiment.

    It's too short.

  18. Unfair as I am sure the Club would be aware of his predicament.

Given the Club's long injury list who could an allegedly 85% fit McLean be keeping out of the team

Not at all. If he is unfit considering our ladder position he should not be playing as it just makes his recovery worse.

He is rated as one of our guns (& i consider him a good & honest bloke) but today he had as much pace as my late grandfather, & thus should not be playing.
