Hurley's been playing footy a lot longer than Watts. Watt's was a basketballer until 17yo?
He's played footy all his life

what's the colour of the original? i'm not really fancying a black and white t-shirt, even if it does have Jurrah on it

Jonesy just called Fitzpatrick "Fitzgerald" in one of his tweets - "Weights this morning felt pretty good ... Tell ya what!!! young Fitzgerald has a real mop of hair on him could gain a cult following I reckon ... Young boys are still slowly being eased into the sessions"
-
Big surprise.

The Jurrah and Grimes presentations can be viewed here. The Jurrah one is quality.

I saw Butcher play yesterday at Trevor Barker Oval for Gippsland i was really impressed. He crashed packs, took some really good contested marks and should have kicked more than 4 if not for errant kicking. i also noticed Jack Watts was watching the game. Perhaps the club sent him down there to have a look at Butch and see how the two of them would function if Butcher came to Melbourne.

Frawley is brilliant.

Would be a great win going into Round 1. Come on Dees.

Should be interesting, will definitely be down there.

**** the AFL!

It's actually only 21% as seen in the most recent MCC magazine.

No disrespect to Jordie McKenzie and the Melbourne recruiting staff, but I am really disappointed with this pick.
It reaks of a SAFE selection for the recruiting staff by taking a 180 something, elite endurance midfield type
over a KPP X factor type of the likes of Sibasado. If Jordie McKenzie never plays a game for Melbourne, or any other AFL
side for that matter, through his career, there will be no cries of foul over his 2008 rookie selection. No recruiting staff will
lose their job over selecting him. No article will be written on the potential lost by his delisting. Instead he will be seen
as a emergency depth player who has the potential to fill a void should injuries hit hard.
Now some of you may say that this is the exact purpose of the rookie draft, to provide depth to the list should the list be
desimated with injuries. To some extent I aggree, but when I watch footage of Casey Sibasado running around the park
and note the lack of KPP firepower currently in our forward line, something in me clicks. "This guy would be a good rookie
selection". Even with the potential of Watts and now Jurrah on our list, adding an excitement machine such as Sibosado to
our rookie list is surely a good idea. I know many of you feel the same way about this kid as I do, which probably means
you feel a similar frustration. I suppose it simply comes down to putting faith in our recruiting staff and the direction Dean
has us heading. Lets just hope that in 3 to 4 years time there isnt a superstar kid running around for Freo by the name
of Sibosado and Jordie McKenzie is nowhere to be seen.
I get what you're trying to say but dedication and commitment need to be placed on th same level as X factor in my opinion. I'm willing to back a kid that might not be a tall, athletic and exciting freak but will be someone that is prepared to do absolutely everything in his power to help make it at AFL level.

Sibasado to Freo.

Strauss = Lindsay Gilbee or Brad Symes
Blease = Brent Harvey or Jason Winderlich (obviously varying levels of talent but you know what i mean)
N Jetta = L Jetta or Cyril Rioli
Great analysis NJ.

If Brock is named Captain, I'll 100% buy a new Dees jumper (number 7?) with 5 on the back! Will the new jumper be a much different colour next year?
Seconded. We can form some sort of Brock Brigade. The only major difference between next years jumper and this years is that there will be no 150 logo and a different sponsor.

There better not be an N. Carroll still on that list.

Let me give you another possibility:
- Luke Beveridge is appointed coach of Sandringham Dragons;
- Wayne Oswald applies to MFC for role as Development Officer;
- Luke Beverige quits and takes up a position at Collingwood; and
- With the departure of Beveridge and the appointment of a "rookie coach" in his stead, the powers that be at the AFL/VFL convince Oswald to return to the Dragons.
I'm quite sure this is it. When Beveridge left AFL Vic were very keen on having Ozzie back so he could mentor this new coach. Anyone that's had anything to do with him knows he can also coach a bit too.

Some great ideas coming through here guys. Would love to turn a certain part of the ground red and blue and really create a home-ground advantage and passion amongst the supporters. We might be stereotyped as toffs but i know a lot of MFC supporters that are madly passionate just like me and would love to sit together with this type of supporter and scream their lungs out.
Also it would probably better to keep the race on the Northern Stand side as there are hardly any MFC fans in the Southern Stand.
-
It still seems a bit odd MFC haven't managed to actually secure Casey as their VFL team...surely they would have been on to this by now. Am i missing something?

Pick 1 + 2 next year would do us a lot of good except can this club really survive another year down the bottom of the table? We're still 2 million in debt, we can't find a major sponser and we have the least supporters of any team in the country.
-
He was never going to slip to our pick #17 anyway really and although it was a great performance there are better players out there that we can use #1 on .
-
I think you'll find that both Brown and Smith will be available at pick #35 so there's no point wasting a second rounder on them because in truth there are a lot better players than them. If i was to favour one i'd pick Brown because he's more suited to our needs and Smith is quite lazy.
