  1. I realise that it's way too early to start panicking about our injuries, however, we should consider looking into possible reasons why injuries are occurring.

I was at the game at Elizabeth and Liam apeared to trip or be tripped by a Crow in a contest for the ball and when he went sprawling out his arm/shoulder took a lot of pressure. Daniel seemed to shoulder Joncock (I think)at a solid pace and hit a brick wall (the man must have cement lining). Sometimes training does have an effect (one year several years ago about 6 of them got groin strain injury and think that coach was sacked) but for others its just bad luck.

  2. It's up to the club to inform the public about such matters, and because Liam is my mate, I am also aware that I have a responsibility to respect his privacy, especially concerning his health.

However, I think I should set a couple of things straight before panic sets in. Firstly, he and Bell will both be having some work done on their shoulders tomorrow. Secondly, while he'll be out of action for a while, he will definitely be back playing mid season, so talk of his demise is definitely premature. Believe me, he'll be back stronger and hungrier than ever.

Interesting...how much do you really know or were you guessing?? I guess you forgot to mention Liam went in before Bell early Wed. Their injuries were better than expected (if you could look at it like that)and injury repair time although still not good is expected to be shorter than first announced if all goes according to plan .

  3. Cant say I agree with you. I was at the game and thought all three of them did very well.

Glad someone else was at the game. I forgot to mention No.13...didn't know who he was as there was no name on the sheet. Have heard he is referred to as "pencil" and i see someone mention the name Tippet. Are they one and the same. Anyway No.13 got a lot of the ball plus made a few mistakes. (Must be human)

  4. I thought Strauss, Maric and Gysberts were all good. Id go as far as to say Strauss and Maric will play round 1. Just my opinion.

Sorry...I should have clarified that in this game they were not ready.....have not seen other games.

  5. Did you happen to catch what happened to Rivers? I was standing behind our interchange and noticed him limping heavily after the game?

Probably just re occuring knee soreness...they usually play safe with that sort of thing. That's what it looked like when he limped past out back

  6. In what ended in a closely fought game where our ruckmen dominated, Melbourne put up a good fight despite losing two players in the first qtr.

We should have won but our boys missed 4 shots at goal in the last few minutes including Greeny’s 30 metre one out in front. It was a good effort considering the paper bag retching rough plane trip for a few of the boys combined with late arrival and hurried pre game preparations.

    Warnock: Good at fullback

    Jones: OK

Bartrum: OK. Needs more penetrating kick.

    Gysberts: Not ready yet.

    Miller: Played CHF quite well.

    Frawley: real good

Trengrove: Excellent. Works hard and covers huge amt of ground.

Dunn: Does well as a tagger.

    Petterd: Real good

Grimes: Very classy. Like the look of the lad.

    Green: Good

    Maric: Not ready yet.

Bell: Did well as tagger on Thompson til bad injury.!!

    McDonald: Good.

Jurrah: Trade mark goal back over head then injured!!

    Cheney: Good. Possible Tagger??

    Rivers: Good til injured!!!

McNamara: Good in back lines. Cool under pressure.

Scully: Worked tirelessly for team & covered a huge amt of ground. Impressive.

Martin: Love his endeavour but fwd line not his spot.

Jamar: Clearly improving with age. I never thought I would say that too.

Bail: Did ok with limited opportunities.

    Strauss: Not ready yet.

Spenser: Rucked strongly. Good around ground.

Newton: Not ready yet. Drops ball from too high when kicking(I.M.O)

  7. Well said "the Fork" One of the more crictical regular posters is a fellow called Joeboy. I'd curb his words tomorrow if I could. There are others too. Constructive help fine, but some have such a critical spirit I feel they can't possibly be genuine fans of the club.

  8. You are right he is a great player dogged by injury this year. If you chuck out the all the players they want to get rid of we would have a team of young players left who would get their attitude kicked down big time purely because of the lack of some steady guiding by senior players. You will find that some of the supporters on this website are very fickle with their allegiance to players and the club, so much so I suspect they are not even melb. fans. Just look at the stuff written about Colin Silvia for example over the past couple of years. Their comments go up and down better that the big dipper at Luna park.

  9. Oh please, I started this thread as a bit of fun.

Given all the bloody complaining on this site about everything (which I happily take part in mind you), isn't it nice to sometimes just have a bit of fun? Footy is afterall about entertainment, is it not?

Of course I'll be there on Sunday cheering us on, and I hope the players have every belief in themselves that they can give Geelong a run for their money. But come on, we are no chance of winning, and realistically we will all be there on Sunday just looking for signs of improvement as opposed to an end result that spells victory.

So all you gentlemen guarding the moral high ground, I suggest you step down. Being realistic and being defeatists are two very different things.

By the way, I don't think that I have ever shown anything but complete passion and support for this club, so I don't understand how anyone could possibly see this thread as tasteless, or defeatist or as attacking our club.

If you hadn't started this as a bit of fun I was going to suggest we all get out of radio and TV coverage range for the Geelong game (knowing full well I would still watch it.)..cos you have to take the good with the bad when you support a team. Keep up the good work Jaded.

  10. joeboy

    Bartram - abysmal handling skills

Honestly Joechild you have the skill of a rhino in a china shop and obviously no compasion. Fortunately the majority of posts display a great deal of maturity..recognizing the fact that for some time now the Batram family have been carrying a heavy load, especially in the last 2 weeks.

  11. I've received two different ones, one today, one yesterday. mignulikz and muzrinkl.

Lucky for me, I deleted before pic came up. I will no longer receive PM's.

I received the same as you...is there any way of blocking this idiot?

  12. It is amusing to see the positive reaction to physical abuse of of one of own. (Nathan Jones's Dad) Very commendable. Pity there is not the same level of outcry for the verbal abuse of players on this "fan" based website. If there was, a few of the regular posters might cop a weekly ban too. Words are just as powerful as fists. You just can't see the bruises.

  13. How accurate is this report of all the players please? I know for a fact that Belly's thumb was more than a fracture. It was shattered in 3 places, pinned and plated. A 4 week injury if all goes according to plan.

  14. Daniel Bell's myspace picture is of a chick drinking out of his shoe.

    Sums up his year really!

No wonder some of your player reviews/thought/observations are so inaccurate. The girl in the picture is drinking from a shoe with a high heel. Get your facts right and your eyes tested.

The players left at the end of last week for the USA.....about 20 of them so good luck with your spotting.

  15. Is anyone writing a report from the last Sandy game please?

Does anyone know if Foxtel or Austar, Fox footy etc ever do the replays of the V.F.L game of the day...if so...when and what channel please. Also do they ever do any of the W.A. games? Thanks

  16. Whelan was ill when Bell replaced him against Freo. (not a hammy as first reported) Maybe he was not fully recovered at the Sandy game and ran out of steam or do you suppose he injured himself again???

  17. ABSOLUTE TRIPE! Your comments on Bruce are so BORING and bloody childish. We thought you were 'done' a couple of weeks ago but you still rock up with you usual NEGATIVE, NON CONSTRUCTIVE criticism of our players. You must be the ORIGINAL FAIRWEATHER supporter. If you can't stand losing, bugger off. Try 'supporting' Geelong, they should make you happy. Then again , maybe not . You would have very little to whinge about.

absolutely brilliant...couldn't agree more. Sometimes i wonder if some of these posters even watch the game and if so they never do it under the guise of "supporter".

  18. I take issue with this comment. Melbourne supporters need to stick together at the moment not start calling eachother "rats".

Yes Melbourne supporters do need to stick together and "support " and not doing what quite a few of them have been doing over the past 2 weeks. Yes it is sad they are losing but you can't have it every which way. They (the rats) want the heads of established players and when they get their wish their young replacement counterparts cop an earful and then they want their heads too. On average it takes 4 years to get a player up to standard (there are exceptions) so be patient. You can't delist everyone It won't happen over night but it will happen.

  19. Our post office is selling a set of stamps of the current team(as they are of other AFL teams) Can get a set for about $11.00 nicely set out in a laminated folder with access to the players you want to keep, post off or delist!! There are only 20 players shown and oddly Jarrod Rivers and others are missing. Our town is small and only had 2 sets for the Melb. team. Raced down there to beat the rush. Can't figure out why some players were in and others left out.

Well done to Belly for making it past his first round of Lou's handball on Sunday too.
