Thats my feeling Chris and I only see more supporting evidence every week.
The more money injected into sport the more corrupt it gets both on and off the field.
It used to be that you could at least rely on the ammos to provide a clean contest.
These days many are co-opted / corrupted as 'feeder' competitions.

I have found Watts' last few weeks most interesting. It is like he has been taught to take his time and back himself in. On so many occasions he has shown great composure in traffic, or even in a tackle, it has been great to see.
His quick thinking also great. Fantastic pass to Garlett under pressure. 'He hit it in hope' ... no.

Apologists seem content. I expect more. I expect the basics at least.
Not content but certainly appreciative. The most basic thing surely is being in the game in the final quarter as opposed to out of it in the first.

The Richmond onballer has been issued with a $2000 suspended fine for his controversial handcuffs gesture during Sunday's elimination final loss to Carlton at the MCG
AFL football manager Mark Evans announced on Wednesday night the League had fined the midfielder, suspended for two years, meaning the player won't have to part with any money unless he re-offends.
Evans says the league is keen to stamp out controversial on-field gestures
"We haven't fined or sanctioned in the past for this, but it's got to the point where we're really saying to all players that we don't want these sorts of gestures."
"There will be a portion of our audience or crowd who are upset by it, and we just think it's best left somewhere else."

"“I’m supportive of the father/son [concept] and I think it should stay, but I don’t think [it should be] such a complicated system now. Maybe they’re better just to scrap it – you’re either all in or all out,” he said."
"Roos said he could understand why the AFL was attempting to make the competition as even as possible, but questioned why the father/son rule needed to be altered yet again."

OMG I love that video
The much maligned Jordie gave out three critical handballs in that final quarter. :-))
(Pity that idiot Derwayne commentated that final passage though. The only negative there )

Not on the list but the win on Sunday was our second in the last eleven matches versus the Bulldogs going back to March 2008.

Couldn't get to the game, just finished watching the replay .... so good. Bail, from what I could see, played ok. He needs to get more momentum up when kicking for goal. Toumpas was pumped after that positive goal review - great to see. Nice pressure and work-rate from the backs. Forward contests had the dogs worried. vandenBerg. Double win with the girls getting up pre-match.
So. Good.

Let's apply numbers and names to this Scenario - Melbourne has no intention of claiming Callum Mills, but knows that Sydney will move up 10 draft places to take that player, so they bid pick 4 on him. Melbourne really wants RP, who may or may not be there at Sydney's 2nd pick in the mid 30's, but now Sydney don't have that pick in the mid 30's so Sydney have been gamed out of their pick in the mid 30's. Melbourne gets little to no benefit because RP was taken in the mid 20's anyway so what a pointless example this is.
So there are two possible outcomes. One where Melbourne doesn't get benefit and loses nothing, or one where Melbourne does get benefit, and loses nothing.

6 of those pages are examples...
And, really? Document length?
Well when you replace 'Club A bids and then must match any other clubs bids with their next pick' and academy rules with 8 pages of ins and outs that seem to require 6 pages of examples, the 'length' question has to asked. It also implies more, such as the simple fact that the more complexities that are defined the easier it is to work 'the system'.
Club Z has no intention of claiming player A, but knows that club A will move 5 draft places to match their bid. Club Z really wants player Z, who was likely to be taken with the second pick of club A, but that second pic is now 10 places later To get player A, Club A has been gamed out of getting player Z.
Oh, but they could use one of their future picks to.. blergh.

14 page document for picks? Blergh.

Many fans cheered us off after the 94 point West Coast loss. We were leading 50-41 in the first half of that. Then the week after we blitzed GWS with 12 goals in the last quarter. That was a strange couple of weeks
I'd never had a player picture as an avatar before that game. Perhaps it was an emotional release after the first three rounds but the image of Grimes determination in the centre at the start of the fourth, the clubs highest scoring quarter ever, really resonated with me.

What is your favourite TV/Radio commentary team?
in Melbourne Demons

I think my ideal TV commentary team would be Hudson and Lane, with Bomba and Carey doing special comments. Richardson on the boundary under the $2 plastic poncho.
