  1. Surprised that while Fitzpatrick has been mentioned in the future Gawn has not. He is extrememly mobile and will be very hard to man up if he rests up forward. He will need some time though. I wonder if you wouldn't pinch hit this year with Miller.

    PJ

Agree. I was a supporter of PJ. Unless he shows me otherwise in a big way, no more.
  3. Sadly I think you are correct. He only plays well when he is the loose man in defence as he reads the play well. He may be better played on a resting ruckman who would not be quick.
  4. Don't let the Coaches off. Thought they were very ordinary too. 240 handballs, handball at all costs. No forward structure. Rivers on Kennedy far too long. Priddis unmanned for long periods. No counter to the Eagles pressure.

    PJ

Martin has missed the last two Casey games so must be injured.
  6. Why do you say that, is it because of the 10 turnovers he was involved in or just his poor disposal generally?.
  7. Blease had shin soreness last week and Martin must be injured.

    PJ

Martin has been out of the Casey side the last two weeks so he must be injured. PS. Aussie would have been better as a second ruck today than PJ.
  9. Clearly Miller would not be a high priority for GC as you say Rhino, but that does not mean they would not take him. The real issue is, would he be a better player than the boys they already have. I think having seen a bit of them recently, that he would be at this point in time. He is about 26 with a developed body and plenty of AFL experience together with recognised group leadership qualities on and off the field. They can't only get the stars, interestingly they don't appear to have any at the moment, they will also need a few workmen and he fits that category. They may or or may not be interested in him, but clearly from what I have seen he would walk into CHF in their team at the moment even with Charlie Dixon there. Don't forget he is kicking goals and playing well for Casey and Casey is a better side than the GC at the moment. They will need some experienced players in their first few years until their youngsters have time to develop.
  10. I have known Peter for 30 years and he is a nice bloke with a real soft spot for the Dees. That is pretty rough.
  11. This story won't go away and Robbo has added another small piece in today's paper. Clearly the club are investigating a permanent home that we can have a major control in for the the whole year. The City Council has previously said they would help as has the State Government, as I recall. The latest suggestion is for an area near the Bolte Bridge. I would imagine an MCG size oval with a great surface and a stand with full facilities adjacent to the oval. The club would house its full administration not just football department in dare I say it, state of the art facilites, giving us the best facility of all AFL clubs. Commercial sections could be incorporated such as restaurants and shops/offices etc making it a money spinner as well. The possibilities would be endless and would once and for all end any speculation of a relocation for the MFC. The article said any such facility would be 5-10 years away but that is ok as everything needs to be carefully planned and investigated as to viability. I would imagine the Casey connection would not need to be changed and Casey would remain a summer training home and VFL ground with occasional MFC use during the season to foster the community relationship. The two clubs have a good working relationship. On another note I spoke to an MCC Committee man this week and I suggested a sign over a doorway that says "MCG home of the MFC" would be a welcome addition and he did not say that it was not possible. Our club is really moving ahead with a great list, stable administration, new facilities, record membership, good attendance numbers, decreasing debt and hope of profit this season, stable sponsorships with the real chance of more to come, financial security via the new pokie licences and a very bright future outlook. We are going to feel very proud of our club and its position in the AFL in the next few years. Go Dees.
  12. What about Jack Morton, Jack Frawley, Aussie Jack, Jack Davey, Jack Garland, Jack Sylvia and the most famous, Jack Scully. I think someone put something in my cup of tea.
  13. Agree WJ. I also popped into to his store and spoke to him there and elsewhere quite a few times over the years and he was a lovely bloke. Sad to hear of his passing, RIP.
  14. Having seen his last two games live, I am becoming rather bullish about Jordy. He has great hands, is at home inside traffic, makes good decisons, has height, is not slow and will develop physically over the next couple of years. Looks to have a real future.
  15. Agree. I see our main priority as another key forward. There should be someone available at our pick. That still means though some time needed for the player to develop. I have posted a few times on the need to find a younger, Podsiadly, Leigh Brown type of player who is a little older with experience in senior football and a strong body. There has got to be a few around in the various state leagues and they usually go for a low pick. If we could draft one who can play a few years it will help take the pressure off guys like Watts, Fitzpatrick and any new KPF picked this year and next. It looks fairly certain Newton and Meesen will go and maybe even Miller off the main list so that will leave a couple of rookie spots and a senior one for a key forward.
  16. Sorry Enforcer to add to the thread but it would be great news for us if Jack Viney picked the Dees. He is apparently a potential Number 1 pick and we won't be any where near that pick in the near future. A few clubs have done very well with father/son players while we have been quiet in that area. With a few choices coming up including Stretch and Grinter sons in the coming years we can end that imbalance and further build on our stocks of young talent. This is great news as we won't be getting anywhere near the early picks in the next few years, I hope.
  17. Clever and attractive avatar, Dana SCULLY from the X Files.
  18. According to Walls, Darcy and Quartermaine on One Week it was a perfect tackle on a player in possession. They suggested that the MRP should be fined for their poor decision.
  19. Have a look at the Tredrea incident and many like it over the last few years. Tredrea may be finished as a result of his tackle on a player sliding in. These types of incidents have seen long term injuries caused to the player standing up doing the tackle. I go along with most here and want my players on the field not injured in dangerous tackles. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.
  20. Despite my name on here I say NO
  21. Great post. Also you have vindicated my anger. The goal umpire clearly said goal twice and was about to raise two fingers when umpire 23 butted in and said he thought it was touched. He did not yell "touched all clear" and merely by his "thought" not "certainty of observation" bullied the goal umpire to change his mind. Illegal, pathetic and game changing.
