While I don't hate him personally, I do hate the way he plays and has played over the years. I think he is one of the biggest snipers we have seen in football, who tries to disguise his deliberate illegal acts with a pretension of of clumsiness. I have not the slightest doubt after viewing the incident several times, that he deliberately kneed Blease in the hip to hurt him and slow him down or put him out of the game.
-
As Gerard Healy calls it, "chook lotto."
-
I think you have missed my point. I don't mind him calling our on field performances "disgusting and pathetic" it was the fact that he aimed that at the club itself. He said the MFC were disgusting and pathetic. As I said earlier if I see him I will take him up on it. He was actually attacking the entire staff and supporters of a club with what he wrote.
-
I can actually see us developing our own Cloke from within the list, unlike a Pendlebury, Thomas, Swan, Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Sewell, Watson etc.
-
To be honest I am still staggered that Sheahan could have written that article. It is the most offensive one to a club that I can recall and to think it was written by a club member.

With Cook having a good game and taking some big grabs, Fitzpatrick improving and the good form of Jai Sheahan and Troy Davis, our tall stocks are on the improve. In the seniors with Clark ok at one end and Frawley at the other and with Watts settling in the back line for a while and with Sellars to pinch hit and Garland and Rivers, we seem to be looking ok in the tall department. Why am I saying all this, because I don't want us to go after Cloke at over a million a year for 5 years. I can see another Templeton situation if we get him. I would rather develop our own and go hell for leather after quality mids and a small forward or two.
-
We have a much bigger need for good mids and small forwards.
-
Agree. I think Neeld will make about 5-6 changes at years end, so some players will be leaving. But for now we can enjoy the win.

How about the PaddyRider deliberate trip/kick on Nicholson. Captured beautifully on TV. Bet they ignore it.

With all of the media criticism this year, which I can cop, the one thing I can't is Sheahan calling the MFC "disgusting and pathetic" . It is one thing to describe our football as disgusting or pathetic but he said the club was. There are a lot of people who make up a footy club and I think he has been let off those comments which I find reprehensible. I know he is a so called supporter but I will remind him of those comments if I ever see him at the footy or a function. To say that about a club is disgusting and pathetic and he deserves condemnation. I personally won't forget those comments. I find them so much worse than King's as to not bear comparison. The lowlight in Sheahan's career as far as I am concerned. Sheahan here is my top 50 footy idiots of the year: 1. Mike Sheahan.

Felt very little pain sitting among the Bomber fans last night at the G. Thanks Scoop Junior for making me go. I gave us no chance. Really good to see the young kids enjoying the win. and a few of us oldies as well.

Funny.

What absolutely staggered me were the Bomber yahoos behind us who started booing Hurley and even called him a dog. Probably the grog talking, but pathetic.
-
No matter which way I look at our on field performance I come down to the same 4 points, all of which the good sides have and we are probably rated the worst in the league, hence our ladder position: 1. Good midfield. 2. Small Forwards. 3. Disposal. 4. Pace. None of it comes from our current coach.

And it also followed his disgraceful behaviour in a bar in the early hours. Poor public behaviour and wanted to leave, ( if true ), yes a real leader.

It is interesting how people view a football club. Stone broke but doing well on the field, to many that is great. Getting strong financially, securing the future of the club, but struggling on the field, many see that as a total failure. I see it as follows, we have gone from a basket case off the field to a strong club, with assets, a new state of the art training base, a satellite training ground in a growing community, debt free, revamped football and coaching department and stable board. On the ground under a new Coach we are struggling with an overrated list that is being asked to play and train a new way. The light at the end of the tunnel is a strong drafting position at years end, ability to chase a player, certainty of one good new player JV, ability to do some trading and overall revamp the list and another hard pre season to get the list fitter. Players who are not good enough will be gone, that appears certain. Ok off the ground and poor on it with the chance to completely turn it around. Not a fantastic position but could be far worse and still room for optimism for the future. I won't be slashing my wrists for a while yet. I will give Neeld and Craig time to turn it around.

New trend on Demonland besides a thousand new threads each week, is for suggestions we get whoever is in the news and says anything sensible on football. We already have get Rendell, Mooney and Ling threads among others.

Enjoy your holiday. Don't think you will enjoy watching the game though.

Is that the same Nicholson who can't kick?

Amen. -
I wasn't ecstatic, but I agree with your sentiment. He was focussing solely on the big picture, team improvement, not individual highlights.
-
You might not be if you were standing next to him at a bar, in the early hours of the morning one day last year, where he demonstrated that he was not a club leader.
-
We still haven't got a small goal kicking forward like Betts or Garlett. Every other team seems to have a few. With Aussie gone, Davey hopeless, Lawrence not ready if ever, we haven't fixed this area.
