Agree. Petterd and Morton are the curious ones, though Petterd doesn't look really fit and Morton may be getting some changes to his game sought. I know Couch has played some good footy, but the last game I saw him play against Sandy he was pathetic.

A good scenario would therefore be; 1. We finish 16th. 2. We deal pick 3 and a (player or swap later picks) to GWS for their 2 Under 17 picks. 3. We do a trade with GC if we want Caddy and can convince him to come to us, for a player and or pick swap. 4. We get JV with our 2nd round pick. 5. We retain picks 4 and 12.

If he is available I would certainly look at him for the midfield again.

You are probably correct that we would respond to their bluff. The trick is to get them not to try. There are many ways available to get that to occur.

You mean like Essendon will get taking Joe Daniher for around pick 20. I think I have read that Joe is a better player than Jack and yet the only club and player getting written about " again" is us and our F/S prospect. Why would that be? Not one bloody article saying how lucky the Bombers will be to get a star at 20. Just go hard Melbourne and act with integrity, which means we let everyone know that we will do what's best for the club, not the individual and it should all work out fine.

Interesting post. We seem to have done better with our later picks as well. Maybe we should pass on our first couple of picks and only use the later ones. Don't have to recruit them, just follow the tip and do some investigating. Not doing any was derelict. We could have had a very good player as a rookie and we have had plenty of ordinary ones. We may not have taken him but it needed to be looked into and it wasn't.

If we act with integrity, it should all work out. We have made it known we will not be bullied into taking any player, even a son of a former great, at a pick higher than his value. Still think he could make it. I would play him in the FP this week in place of Flash. I would tell him if he doesn't apply a strong forward press he has no future at the club. Think that would stir him up.

Predicated on us not changing ladder position at the end of the season. Best thing for us would be for JV to have a quiet finish to the year and a couple of other boys to come storming home. Then the risk for teams below us nominating him becomes great.

Lets not forget GWS want the best picks they can get in this draft. If they could get our first pick on an under 17 year old, why would they risk losing their pick to us and forcing us to give away our first pick if we want JV. As for GC, a deal of a player cleared to them and maybe a swap of draft picks wipes out the scenario, not to mention them also losing the player they want by bluffing us and us calling the bluff. We can do a deal with integrity and keep this process from becoming a complete sham. The real winners here will be Bombers who will get Daniher at a late first round pick, way below what he is worth.
