  1. Hope Taggart gets a game soon. I would like to see him action in the AFL.
  2. Went back to reread my post. Actually the response was not sarcastic, was not intended to be sarcastic, but was as said in my apology a joke. You have wrongly inferred that and then called me snide.Nevertheless my apology stands.
  3. I apologise for my" sarcastic" comment if it upset you. It was meant to be a joke.
  4. The horse has a MFC supporting owner. You work it out.
  5. I just get the feeling that Lethal has been out of it for a while and is not really interested anymore. I believe he is happy with his media work. I think he still lives in Queensland, but I could be wrong and wants to stay there. Mark Williams is still involved at Richmond and is still in the thick of it. He is also younger than Leigh who is now 61.
  6. A bit of info for you considering your name. Stephen Powell who played at 3 clubs is a MFC member and regards us as his favourite club he played with. He follows us therefore and like the rest of us wants success badly. That was passed on to me thursday from a close friend of his.
  7. I will answer the second question first, if MN has lost the players as most of us suspect, I would find a decent and respectful way of doing it today. Our next Coach has to be experienced. A flag would be a bonus. A flag as a player would be better. He would have to have had experience with a team low on the ladder as well. He HAS to be a "players man". A leader who can command respect from his players, who respects them in return and can engender the buy in from all at the club. The only person I can see who fills most of the above criteria is Mark Williams. I am open to others but can't think of any who also fill most of the criteria. Mark Williams can be erratic, but he lives and breathes footy and most who have played with or under him like him and will work with him. If you got a Junior as an assistant that would also be a good move. I have left out Roos because I believe he is unavailable.
  8. That is not a really pretty picture.
  9. No it's me. Always has been too.
  10. I hesitate after yesterday to mention this, but I have Anluan in the 12.45 at Geelong today. I am told she should run well if she handles the synthetic. Starcrazy got badly bumped and didn't handle the heavy 9 track. They have a very big opinion of him and I think we will see that in his 3 year old career. At 2 he is a big baby.
  11. This is very early to be deciding on who we draft and we don't even know our picks. However, I have given this some thought and while we desperately need mids, if Boyd is far and away the best player, IMO then you take him. Boyd and Hogan can give you your forward line for years to come. That would still allow you to take a top mid if you had the PP. You could also get a free agent mid. You could also trade for a mid, by for example sending Jamar to GWS, who will lose Brogan and only really have Giles. If Leuenberger stays at the Lions, Jamar becomes an for GWS. The rest of the draft would also allow you to pick up several mids and maybe a small forward or two. The PSD could be another option for a mid, who wants out of his club. We don't know what the future holds. Hogan may choose to leave. Clark may not come up. I don't think he will ever be a full time ruckman again, unless his foot completely heals. Dawes may have injuries. We could even trade Watts for a mid. Would we consider Watts for Yarran? If we had Boyd I think you would. You might even get a Bell in the deal who is not in favour at Carlton. There are many options to consider. Having Hogan and Boyd as your two main forwards could really set this club up. Then you get the mids needed with trades, free agents and your other picks. One thing I know for sure, if we overlook Boyd he will be a star and if we take a mid instead, he will be average. Taking the best player has a certain symmetry that is hard to argue against. Anyway, as I said earlier, it is early days.
  12. I am still here.
  13. "We can deliver. Our Record." Who is the "we" and the "our" with the record of delivering? The most important thing according to Kennett is the "speed" at which it can be done. Not getting it right? Just get it done quickly. From earlier in the article is the implied suggestion from PJ that he doesn't want to work with him, as he dismisses Kennett as an option. So appoint Kennett and cause division between the board and the new CEO. Yes that is the way to go. Kennett also suggest that the AFL decision by next month would be too slow. There he goes driving in the divisive wedge between the AFL and himself again.
  14. Kennett, who has become a Demons’ member, again refused to disclose who was part of his ticket, and whether he had influential supporters backing his bid to fix an ‘‘ill’’ club likely to lose about $2 million this year. ‘‘It’s not me pushing. I am just one of a group,’’ he said. ‘‘You know we can deliver. Our record suggests that. I am an agent of change.’’ AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou said the league would ‘‘work through the (Jackson) plan’’ before the next commission meeting in July. Kennett said even this timeframe was too long. ‘‘I think that is too late. They have known this is coming for some time, they only had the presentation from Melbourne yesterday, but the most important development now for the future success of the Melbourne Football Club is the speed at which they move into the reconstruction of the club,’’ he said. 15. Article in the Age where Kennett says that" the AFL are our liquidators and they own the MFC". He also says if he doesn't get in now as president he is not interested in getting in later. He has also called on the AFL to throw out the elected Board and put him and his unnamed mates in now.
  16. I wonder what the argument of those who say you have to earn it is. Casey play good footy and top the ladder. Interesting.
  17. That's fine. Then no one ever gets a PP again. I can live with that. A mini draft for us would be ok. Extra money in the salary cap would help. A ban on other clubs taking our players this year would help. First dibs on all players previously in drafts but not taken for this year would help.First dibs on mature aged players would help. There are plenty of ways to help without PP's. One thing I can guarantee is that the other clubs at the very least, want us to be competitive, so that it doesn't affect them in the hip pocket.
  18. Not according to some on here and in the media. Being bad for a number of years is not the reason you should get a PP. It obviously has to do with something else. Maybe you need a certain amount of players with blue eyes to qualify.
  19. Looks like I used a little too much sarcasm.
  20. Why is there this need to continue bashing this Board? They admit errors. Many will depart. What is being gained by this constant blame game? Do you find it productive? Since you have made some allegations I will give my viewpoint. The debt will not be similar. It was $5m peviously which has been extinguished. There is a projected $1.5 m trading loss expected. We have an assett surplus of about $8-$9m. Through the AFL with a one off payment, to be achieved by the Board's appointed CEO and its outgoing President, the trading loss will be extinguished and there will be funds to carry forward and pay out the fine, termination payments etc. This Board, no matter how it achieved it, will leave this club with not one year of trading loss and with a new $10m assett. How can you say then that they leave it worse off financially or in a similar debt position, there is no debt, we are in surplus. I agree the admin needs reorganization, but some of it is leftover from before they took over and some of it is their work. So what. We need to improve our admin. It will be done under this Board. I agree we have a shattered coach. He will be replaced. He is not the first coach to be replaced. We are a laughing stock. Agree. Hopefully after we get things right and improve we won't be. It won't be forever. As to the dearth of genuine talent. I blame the last two recruiting managers, who incidentally were not appointed by this Board. As to our playing list, aside from a distinct lack of midfielders, which may be changed by concessions this year, organized again by the CEO and outgoing President, we may remedy that problem. Can I suggest a rough side : Terlich, Frawley, Garland, Grimes, Mc.Donald, Taggart/whoever Blease, Jones N, Toumpas, Howe, Dawes, Watts, Hogan, Clark, Sylvia, Gawn, Trengove, Viney, Tim, is that the worst side you have ever seen. Maybe with a new coach it will perform better. Maybe with the new trades and draft picks of this year and improvement in the likes of Jones M, Kent, Taggart, Fitzy, Tynan etc it will get better. Maybe we all need to stop blaming everyone, eating our own and just get on with the business of fixing the club. It really is non productive.
  21. If it is a better feeling than watching us play enjoy it.
  22. I know you love me.
  23. You want to know who is the best President? The one who never makes mistakes. Every decision is the correct one.
  24. Well not on the field anyway. We are certainly getting beaten up off it, in the media.
