  1. I think that was Socrates.
  2. Yes it was a bad one last night for Jimmy. I hope he is not dropped, as the best thing for him is gametime, just like Fitzy, who is now starting to feel at home in the side. The problem with Jimmy is, he has come with the high pick expectation and because of his hampered pre season and operation, he is struggling to find his best form. I think we will see a far improved Jimmy next year, barring injury.
  3. Apologies to the banana cake, but I sampled some vanilla slice cake last night, I forgot how nice it tastes. Haven't had any in years.
  4. Surely you have something better to do with your time than worry about the best thread on Demonland. Good luck with your grandson's lightning premiership day.
  5. Bingo. Our disposal is atrocious, has been for years and is killing us. Yes some good mids would make us a fair side, if we improve our disposal. The Lions had an ordinary side in yesterday, but beat us, why, because of our poor ball use.
  6. Wouldn't be the first time.
  7. Hopefully we can uplift them in the future.
  8. Just got an email from the club about sponsor offers and one of them was from Kaspersky. We must have them on board to some extent as a sponsor again.
  9. While looking through the list of Foundation Heroes, to confirm my earlier statement that Stockdale was not a member and he isn't, which of course doesn't preclude anyone from standing for the Board, I came across the name Craig Hutchinson. I wonder if it is the same Hutchy on TV. If it is I will look at him in a different light. Interestingly I also came upon several members who I know support other clubs. That is very admirable IMO.
  10. They may be hoping Byrnes likes it up there and takes a playing coach role in the NT next year. I am certain Spencer will be playing for Casey on sunday, unless there is a late injury to a ruckman.
  11. That is a bit unrealistic. You are asking us to recruit actual footballers.
  12. I probably am to a degree. I certainly don't like the bit about him not getting on with Jackson. That spells real trouble to me if true. It would be a pretty outlandish statement to make, if untrue, BTW. Our fate in the short term is undeniably tied to the AFL. I don't want to pi-s them off. That doesn't mean we cow tow, but we need to work hand in hand with them for the next period, until we are off and running. I want every benefit they will give us. ATM we need to be united and I totally agree with the one ticket one MFC point. If you really cared about the club, why wouldn't you take a position as vice president if it was offered to you? Why wouldn't you bring a few of your best people and work with the existing board? Why do you have to be President or nothing? Sounds like ego to me. That is a trait of the politician. Similar view to Kennett. If you are unhappy with the Board challenge at the AGM. Imagine a prospective Coach or Footy Manager reading the paper today and what they would think about the stability of the place.
  13. Stockdale is 68. Bartlett about 50 Bartlett is a foundation member, not sure if Stockdale is. Stockdale says it is president or nothing. He has apparently been offered the vice presidency and refused. He apparently doesn't get on with Jackson. The AFL and the MFC apparently prefer Bartlett, who has a strong relationship with Demetriou. The AFL will give us the help both financial and on field that they decide to. We are not in a position to have a fight with the AFL or get them offside. Stockdale and a few of his best people would be welcomed onto a unified Board. Apparently this is not acceptable to him unless he is president. Everybody except Stockdale seems happy with the changes happening at the MFC at the moment. Every new Board member is up for re election at the next AGM under the club's constitution. If Stockdale cares about the club why doesn't he just shut up now and challenge at the AGM like every other MFC member has the right to do and not make this a public fight while we are trying to make the most important appointments for the future of the club. I fear this distraction could cost us the best coach and maybe even Jackson. I fear this is about a person's personal ambitions rather than what is best for the MFC.
  14. Agree. There is no way in the world Woosha would be sacked by the Eagles. If they wanted him gone, he would retire or move on, but it would never be a sacking.
  15. We have gone from bananas to "cauliflower" ears.
  16. Thanks for that. So leaving aside the newbies, we are 20 games behind the next lowest and both of them are in the eight at the moment. The Dogs are more than double our wins and have played finals recently. Those stats speak for themselves, as to our overwhelming need for player assistance. That need can't be matched by any other team. We are in a very strong position top get help. As I have said previously, if we don't no one will.
  17. So in one year they won half the games we won in 7.
  18. Do you know what the win stats are for the other clubs over the same period. I would be interested to know.
  19. I think Spencer will be at Casey this week.
  20. Look forward to seeing Jimmy play next year after another pre season, under a new coach and further away from his hip operation. Under extremely difficult conditions and circumstances he played his best game for us. That tells me a lot about him. He will be a good player for us.
  21. I really hope we don't decimate the Casey side like we have for the last couple of years. They deserve some success for their efforts.
  22. They have also shot themselves in the foot saying we whouldn't get one, even though everyone knows we have a worse record.
  23. Bingo. PJ sent him an SMS and he replied by SMS, really. Is that how PJ approaches his most important appointment, I don't think so. I think they want everyone to stop speculating. That is what I am now going to do.
