  1. Either do I. Blease was great in the one quarter he got 1st round and yes, had a poor one last week, but he is better than Byrnes, who IMO has been hopeless in both games. Long term as well we need games for Blease. This IMO is a pathetic selection. Great way to make another young player want to leave the club.
  2. He didn't actually say that. He said that he would like to meet DM and see if he can help. He also suggested other former players would also be happy to help. He also said he didn't want a Board position. Maybe he would be a perfect type of guy to find out from the players what they see as the problem areas, in an anonymous discussion and pass that onto those in control.
  3. We don't need a campaign manager, it will become obvious to the incumbents that I am being swept along by the great MFC membership and they will then annoint me. I am working on my aims now. So far I have decided on the following: Get the Dees to play hard, uncompromising, winning football, Eliminate the word culture from our vocabulary, Stop Carlton from getting use of the MCG as a home ground, Lower food and drink prices at the G, Get umpires to give us a fair go, Get 2 Priority picks from the AFL for this year's draft, Ban the MCC from banning anti T$ signs when we play GWS, Free MFC ponchos when it rains, Smash Carlton every time we play them, Win 5 flags to put us ahead of the pack, Get C Wilson to give CS a kiss and make up, Get the media onside with free booze at all MFC media pressers, Cheaper membership tickets and more freebies to go with them, Release news through Demonland wherever possible, Free live stream of MFC games through Demonland, Free coffee and chat with members at least twice a year at AAMI park following a training session, Create a truly inclusive club and to that end I welcome further suggestions, many more to come.
  4. Have the players tanked the last 2 games? No one believes they are that bad.
  5. The Chairman will possibly go and probably should. Recent events probably dictate that. The Coach should be safe for a while, unless it is revealed that the players will not play for him. If that is the case he goes as well. On the ground we bring in the young players and blood them.Perhaps a team with Gawn, Dawes, Evans, Kent, Taggert, Tynan and maybe Spencer will be better than one with Byrnes, Rodan, Jamar, Gillies and maybe Sylvia.Next year we can add Hogan and Barry and maybe a couple of class mids courtesy of our high pick and bonus priority pick. We are financially sound ATM and it is the on field that has us in this position. That can turn around quicker than most people understand. We need to find out if the Coach is any good and if not he goes. Keep turning over the list. Eliminate as far as possible draft mistakes, ( we have a new recruiting manager ). Ensure the best development of our kids. Draw a line in the sand and start to create the right culture. The new kids will see to that if we give them the right assistance. Conclusion: stick fat, all is not lost, change, mixed with youth, talent, hunger and passion, can bring success.
  6. Could be an interesting MFC Board meeting in the next day or so. Don looked tired, worn out and extremely uncomfortable at the CS presser. He may be about to walk, feeling he has done all he can.
  7. That's why a lot of people don't insure their horses. I know breeders who don't insure, as they think the worst that could happen is they have one claim. The premiums may be bigger than the claim, so they "self insure".
  8. The horse has the breeding to be a stallion even if he can't run. I am sure if he proves to be slow, he will get a mystery injury and never race.
  9. I now expect calls from the media for the removal of the Bombers CEO, for presiding over the biggest scandal in AFL history. Secret contracts for injecting players. Young players being injected with unknown substances via the stomache and now awaiting suspension from their sport. An inability of the CEO or club to tell those players what they had been injected with. Clearly worse than the loss of 2 games of football. Come on Robbo and Connolly lets see you attack the club you support. Lets see the media attack Robson.
  10. Generally a premium runs to 4% of insured value of a racehorse. Different for stallion fertility or mares in foal.
  11. Former Demon Recruiting Manager Craig Cameron recently quit his role as Tigers Footy manager, to take up the position of CEO of BC3 Thoroughbreds. Today he signed for the purchase of Black Caviar's little brother, for an Australian record price for a yearling at $5million. His company also bought the older sister last year for $2.6million.
  12. Probably our projected budget taking a massive hit as a result of the current situation.
  13. The media are not just messengers OD, that is the problem, they are bullies and vultures that feed off the carcasses of the weak. They are spineless and don't report the truth, but rather attack those find it hard to fight back.
  14. Another couple of hundred new threads started. Becoming impossible to read.
  15. Now the Media are calling for the AFL to take over the club. Let's examine that. A financially sound Company, that has assets and makes a profit, run by a Board that is elected by its members, is taken over by the AFL, because it lost two sporting contests, Oh yes I can see that happening. The club asking the AFL for help, well that is a different matter.
  16. Agree. I said trade him 3 years ago when we could have got a couple of midfielders for him, his value was that high. He now has no trade value.
  17. Agree. Lose 2 games badly, yes and then the AFL takes over the club. Demetriou would laugh his head off at the suggestion. However, ask the AFL for some help, draft picks, money, reverse the fine, admin advice , sure that is feasible and would be seriously considered.
  18. He is and it hasn't. Have spoken to him a few times. He is a realist. He is also very experienced in AFL football. We are a poor list and have a pathetic midfield. That can't be changed overnight, but it will be. More pain to come but it does need to change in the effort department. hardest challenge will be to keep everyone together and trying.
  19. A Saints mate had this suggestion as a start. Relieve the Captains of their role this year and maybe the next and make them Vice Captains under a hard nut like Jones. Jones would lead from the front and the two Jack's could concentrate on their games and gain some more experience. It is very hard for two youngsters to lecture older more experienced players.
  20. Know where you are coming from. How happy would Dees supporters be to see the Dees winning, even with a few [censored] in the team? We have become the nice, pretty, boys ( with beards ) soft, losers.
