No one is knocking Lucas, that is reserved solely for the bloke that selected him at 12.

Don't think so, this is their 2nd GF in a row and they won the flag 5 years ago. Clearly you can't keep everyone on a list. Not sure which Hawk mid you would delist to play Kennedy, even though he is a very good player.

Yes off tuesday and wedding 3 weeks tomorrow. Will be closely monitoring Demonland for all the trade news.

Atlantic Jewel's run has ended, with a good 2nd to one of my favourite horses, It's a Dundeel.

There is a lot to be said for the Roos method of building your list. By sacrificing high picks every now and then, you can get a proven AFL player and you know what you are getting. That way you can build up a strong list and always add youth later in the draft. You miss the so called best young talent, but if it is left to purely drafting, we would have 20 Lucas Cooks.

Yes. Leave the country.

If today's Herald Sun report is accurate the game has been brought into disrepute. It says that due to the war waged by the clubs in opposition to our request for a PP, they have succeeded in getting the AFL to deny us a pre draft pick and at best we will get an end of round 1 pick if anything at all. Forget about what the criteria is or the fact that there is an independent board to decide the issue, lobbying has bypassed this if the report is accurate and the AFL has abandoned its own rules once again and catered to the vocal majority or minority. Therefore should we now lobby with other disadvantaged clubs for equal fixturing and salary caps etc due to our outrage at what is going on? The AFL if it has acted on the pressure of a lobby group has allowed itself and them to bring the game into disrepute.

I hope you are not referring to me as a pig (sow). The thread is not to seek sympathy, but rather to discuss whether what we cop from the media and the other clubs is fair and balanced.

There are those on here who rail against others for a perceived victim mentality. We are treated the same as everyone else they say. Toughen up. I beg to differ. It seems to me that the media and other clubs delight in bagging us at every opportunity. We are perceived as weak and incapable of fighting back. If I just recall some typical examples to illustrate my point. Matlhouse nabs Buttifant and goes after Thomas, media reaction, he is a smart operator. Wellman is taken from us during an existing contract, Essendon smart operators. Roos approaches assistants who are uncontracted, he is a $1.5m AFL planted vulture and is out of line. We ask for a PP after the worst 7 years in modern footy history, all hell breaks out, though they have been given freely before, for 2 and even 1 poor year, to teams that were in the finals shortly before. Excuse given by the other clubs and the media, you wasted earlier picks and you have Roos. Other teams get advantages in the salary cap, 3rd party deals or with fixturing, the media report that as necessary and for us, that's what you get for being no good. We have been pilloried over the tanking saga, investigated for 6 months and clearly been disrupted, even though found not guilty and then even had it used as an argument against us getting a PP. On the other hand, other teams that did the same, have been dobbed in by former players and officials yet have been protected and not investigated by the AFL and escaped any media criticism. Our only number 1 PP we ever got, is poached/stolen from us, half way through his contract, with a sneaky rule created by the AFL and funded by AFL money. Result, we are derided for losing him and picking a person who would leave, albeit for the highest amount of money ever given to a young player. This player never even told the truth to us and obviously failed to give value in the second year of his contract, because his head was elsewhere. We get arguably the best Coach available in Roos and are attacked for destroying the game, for paying him $1.5m, even though Worsfold and Malthouse are believed to be on only slightly less and Roos will pay for himself easily, with increased memberships and sponsorship. All through the last few years our brand has been trashed by the media because of our poor on field performances. we have been called disgraceful and yet when we try and do something about it, we again cop it unfairly from that same media. Need I go on, there are countless other examples. IMO we toughen up and get as dirty and ruthless as possible, without breaking AFL rules and TO HELL WITH EVERYONE ELSE. I want success, I don't want to be a nice guy.

One great game and one to go this weekend.
-
Well according to some, like Damian Barrett, that would be just great.
-
Unfortunately that is just another blatant example of hypocritical reporting to an agenda. It is too prevalent.
-
Looking forward to the first name player we want, coming and saying he came because of Roos.

How do you know it wasn't Dustin or his Dad insisting on a figure. A Manager would have to act on instructions.

Enjoy.

Now that Martin looks like staying and Conca has signed, our chances for Adams should improve.

I think they are very professional. They get who they want and rarely lose anyone they want to keep. If Buddy goes I don't blame them as it would be similar to our ex player going to GWS.

I think it was a written submission. Interesting as we have had probably the worst 7 year period in modern history. How does the AFL refuse a PP under those circumstances? If they do what circumstances would then be needed to get one? That is why I think we will get one around Essendon's pick or end of first round.
-
You mean the example of getting two 2nd round picks for Chaplin and Pearce when we we got a single crap pick for Beamer and Rivers, even inc Byrnes. If you are right, the PP is officially dead. The decision board can be immediately disbanded.

Should be great games.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Redleg replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
What about Adams, Tyson and Miles for 2 and Jamar. They desperately need another experienced ruckman and Bellchambers and probably Mummy are unavailable. All three of their boys want to go home and we could keep 3 mates together. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Redleg replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are probably the best fit for him, as he will get games with us, probably go 2 years, play under Roos, learn a bit and then head to assistant coaching. -
She is long gone, as is that small unhappy moment.

I have just rung Barass to see if he is up to playing again.
