If Chip has signed with a club already it would be pathetic of him not to inform the club. We need to plan for the future and if he is going that starts with trying out others. Also it affects our contract negotiations with other players and possible inclusions to the list. I can cop him leaving as that is his right but the club deserves honesty at this point of the season. We have been nothing but supportive to him and if he has committed elsewhere we deserve the truth.

And there is the post of the year. -
100% correct.

Agree. He hit the ball away off his wrist first. That meant that Wingard could never have marked the ball. Therefore the incidental contact to Wingard which he totally acted up, making it look like he was shot, did not constitute an illegal mark spoil. However if even after that the umpire felt constrained to award a free, how could 3 incompetent umpires miss the blatant drag around the neck to Pedersen, as he attempted to mark about 15 metres out straight in front. Even all of the commentators said it was blatant as did Murphy and Lewis on AFL360. Oh and by the way on TV the umpire is shown about 10 metres away staring straight at it.

Get in the line. -
Agree. Have said that on here a few times. We were predicted by Mark Evans in his explanation for not giving us a PO last year, to be getting Clark back ( didn't happen ), getting Hogan in the side ( didn't happen ), Toumpas and Watts to improve ( didn't happen ), start to climb the ladder ( didn't happen ) and on top of this lost the experienced Sylvia the 4th player to leave us recently under new rules, Rivers, Moloney and that number 1 pick of a couple of years back and now possibly will lose an AA experienced Full Back, the 5 th player to leave, making us less experienced than last year . Add to that another year, being year number 9 at the bottom of the ladder. Surely we qualify now for a PP.

Why not?

Interesting though when you look at the Pies talls and compare them to ours. We need a Frawley type far more than them. Cloke, Reid, Brown, Frost, White, Keefe, Lynch and Hogan, Dawes, Tom Mac, Pederson and Dunn.

Remember players don't tank. The players made mistakes nearly as many as the umpires. I have now seen 3 incidents replayed, which as agreed by Bob Murphy and Jordan Lewis on AFL360, which all went against us and cost goals or denied us shots from close in and there were more I am told.
-
Are GWS tanking? 6 players including Cameron ruled out for the rest of the year.

IF Chip goes and I think he will, I am troubled that if we get Malceski, he will cost us possibly pick 3-4. The AFL will not give us that pick if we get Malceski as a FA and we would probably get shafted again like we did when Rivers and Moloney left and we got nothing because Byrnes came across. That was scandalous when you look at what Port got for two average players, a pick for each. I would rather a deal where for example we got say Mitchell and Malceski plus maybe a swap of picks to our advantage for say pick 4 or 5. That would allow us to improve our position in the draft and still get a couple of good players. Otherwise I would stay away from Malceski if Chip leaves, but if he stayed I would be happy to add Malceski as a FA for a few years.

Pity only a few rounds left.

Had a good time. At the airport hope to be back in Oz early Wednesday morning. Back in time for the bye.

Don't know if we will get 5 wins this year, but we have clearly improved.Percentage is the first indicator. It is up. I think someone posted that we have lost 6 games by under 20 points. I seem to remember us playing most of our games in the last several years where we were out of it 20 minutes into the game. Then it would get worse. I would imagine that Stretch and maybe 2 good mids drafted and maybe another traded in plus Hogan and improvement in youngsters like Salem, JKH, Toumpas, Kent etc and another instructive pre season will have have us climbing the ladder quickly.
-
Haven't seen the game yet but to take Port to under a goal at their home when they were desperate to win to get into the top four, was a great effort. We are definitely improving and this off season in adding personnel and learning will be vital to our future. We are on the right track.
-
I disagree. I can think of several match changing shockers paid against us, but can't recall one match changer we got and possibly no more than a couple of absolute shockers that we have got this year, that didn't affect the result anyway.

Nothing new.

It is a thread that just keeps on giving.

I also don't understand the hate. He was drafted to a basket case and gave us his loyalty until he had to decide, courtesy of the rules whether to leave for more money and success. We don't know if he is gone but if it is true as to his demands, then there is no deal yet. I suspect there will be one soon and he will leave. What does he owe us, nothing. He is a professional sportsman who probably has no other career mapped out and he is entitled to get the best result for his family during what is left of his footy career. If we fail to win another game we will get pick 3 for him. The whole footy world agrees that is over the odds. What is the issue then? We could get a potential star for a bloke that has clear deficiencies in parts of his game. I would be happy with a 200 game mid as compo. We need that more than him IMO.

I understand now.

That's like saying Nicholson could replace Buddy.
