  1. When did the Swans get Armstrong from the Crows? They have a real knack for getting good players from others clubs, or making them good players at the Swans.
  2. Looks like we have fixed up the Bombers confidence in kicking for goal. Following on from 6.16 against us they are 1.11 at half time tonight against the Swans..
  3. Would love nothing better than to see them implode on and off the field. My most detested club.
  4. No I think it is a bit of love. They have been unbelievably hard on him and with the win they see him in a slightly different light. However you are correct, they smell fresh blood elsewhere.
  5. Media showing a bit of love for Neeld and getting into North and Carlton.
  6. I think you have missed my point. I don't mind him calling our on field performances "disgusting and pathetic" it was the fact that he aimed that at the club itself. He said the MFC were disgusting and pathetic. As I said earlier if I see him I will take him up on it. He was actually attacking the entire staff and supporters of a club with what he wrote.
  7. I can actually see us developing our own Cloke from within the list, unlike a Pendlebury, Thomas, Swan, Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Sewell, Watson etc.
  8. To be honest I am still staggered that Sheahan could have written that article. It is the most offensive one to a club that I can recall and to think it was written by a club member.
  9. With Cook having a good game and taking some big grabs, Fitzpatrick improving and the good form of Jai Sheahan and Troy Davis, our tall stocks are on the improve. In the seniors with Clark ok at one end and Frawley at the other and with Watts settling in the back line for a while and with Sellars to pinch hit and Garland and Rivers, we seem to be looking ok in the tall department. Why am I saying all this, because I don't want us to go after Cloke at over a million a year for 5 years. I can see another Templeton situation if we get him. I would rather develop our own and go hell for leather after quality mids and a small forward or two.
  10. With all of the media criticism this year, which I can cop, the one thing I can't is Sheahan calling the MFC "disgusting and pathetic" . It is one thing to describe our football as disgusting or pathetic but he said the club was. There are a lot of people who make up a footy club and I think he has been let off those comments which I find reprehensible. I know he is a so called supporter but I will remind him of those comments if I ever see him at the footy or a function. To say that about a club is disgusting and pathetic and he deserves condemnation. I personally won't forget those comments. I find them so much worse than King's as to not bear comparison. The lowlight in Sheahan's career as far as I am concerned. Sheahan here is my top 50 footy idiots of the year: 1. Mike Sheahan.
  11. Felt very little pain sitting among the Bomber fans last night at the G. Thanks Scoop Junior for making me go. I gave us no chance. Really good to see the young kids enjoying the win. and a few of us oldies as well.
  12. No matter which way I look at our on field performance I come down to the same 4 points, all of which the good sides have and we are probably rated the worst in the league, hence our ladder position: 1. Good midfield. 2. Small Forwards. 3. Disposal. 4. Pace. None of it comes from our current coach.
  13. New trend on Demonland besides a thousand new threads each week, is for suggestions we get whoever is in the news and says anything sensible on football. We already have get Rendell, Mooney and Ling threads among others.
  14. Enjoy your holiday. Don't think you will enjoy watching the game though.
  15. Just saw a replay of the Saints game and we were ok for 90% of the game. We were a goal down with about 5 minutes to play. How is that a pathetic side? We have played ok in parts of other games as well and then agreed, pathetically in others. There is some light at the end of the tunnel and it will probably have more to do with our younger players and the ones we draft this year, than our older ones.
  16. Well that explains why I am the only person here at Metricon Stadium.
  17. Back in Oz and on the Gold Coast for a couple of days. Great to be back. Just watched the last quarter of the Tigers v Swans game last week to get a footy fix. It showed again what we lack and that is pace on and off the ball and the skill and talent to deliver it accurately. It amazes me when people say we recruited all these talented skinny quick players and should have gone for solid types. I actually think we have done the opposite. Aside from T$ who obviously can't be named on this thread and maybe Blease, who are all these quick skinny skilled players we have recruited? From our first game this year we have been shown up in pace and skill. It seems to be our downfall in every game. There is no doubt we can get contested ball and also no doubt that we then turn it over. This is the reason I feel so strongly that we can turn it around next year if we finish last or near last, get JV for a 2nd rounder and use the three 1st round picks to get talented quick skillful players with a hunger to win. Add that to our best side and there is a huge difference to our chances. We also need to get games into our younger players. For the record I don't see guys like Trengove, Gysberts, Tapscott as quick especially when Fitzpatrick can easily out sprint them. We need pace around the packs to break the lines or we will never improve.
  18. Just seen the scores and read the game day posts. It still seems that what many of us have been saying for a long time is still the problem, poor skill and lack of pace. Some of that can be cured with a few good selections at the draft this year. Tinkering with the game plan will also help. Turnover of personnel will have to happen. One thing that happened in the first game against the Lions is still occurring according to Luke Darcy, the opposition has players sitting 5-10 meters off the pack and it is consistently flicked out to one of them and then they are away and we are chasing. Why has that not been rectified?
  19. Has he ever heard of the 5 year plan?
  20. Me too and I have another grandchild on the way as does WJ.
  21. I am in New York and arrive back before the Swans game next week and share your sentiments, Old Dee. Thank you all for Demonland, it is a great read when you are away.
  22. Hi guys from a cruise ship in the Pacific about to cross the Panama Canal. Glad the boys had a real dip last night and that we are starting to gell a bit. With Chip out and Mitch and LJ it was a great effort. If we inject some speed and skill in the midfield at the draft or trading we will be a decent side next year. Keep well and back for the Sydney game. Love reading Demonland while away, I feel like I am there with you all.
  23. Thanks, leaving today. I think you posted earlier you are also going away, if so enjoy your trip.
  24. Starting to look like the game against GWS at the G could be our big one. Not too many others where we can be optimistic.Perhaps the return game in Canberra and the GC one.
  25. Another batch of new threads all relating to yesterday or the past two weeks, which could have gone on the Post Match thread.
