FWIW, I was at an MFC AGM many years back when Billy Snedden the President was asked from the floor, " would we be clearing Phil Carman"? He answered absolutely not. He will play with us next year. The Headline on the back page of the Sun the next morning, revealed that Carman had been cleared the day before by the Dees. Yes I know, Billy was a Politician.

Agree. I heard him say it on thursday night. I just said I "wonder" if it could happen, in other words, was it a ruse.

How did he go at Draft camp?

Has an AFL Club ever said something and done the complete opposite? Example, "we support the coach 100% and he will see out his contract", then sacked the next day, if not that afternoon.

It has taken me a long time, but I now know exactly what people in footy really care about, winning games. The rest is souffle. If we win games we are a club that matters, don't and we aren't.

Mahoney said we wanted to simply improve our position. We had the chance to get a good mid and a good key forward or two good mids, something we may not have been able to do next year in the draft. He could simply have been told that by Taylor and Viney. They could have had an idea who they wanted, but hadn't finalized their selection. That is what they told a group of us on thursday night. I believe them. No one has proved otherwise. Maybe everyone else should believe them as well.

Despite saying publicly we are not taking him, I wonder if we still might Rookie him.
