  1. Shouldn't forget, though, what a good team we were in 2000. I remember we had v. strong second halves. For instance, at that game v. Geelong where Barassi & Louise Dobson carried the Olympic torch in at half-time & the crowd was buzzing a Geelong mate & I were discussing what would happen in the second half. I agreed it was a tight game that could go either way, while secretly thinking 'we'll run over the top of you, no doubt'. & the way we annihilated North to get into the GF -- revenge for 1998. Think back on how good it was to be a top side. Then again, there's no pressure being at the bottom of the ladder.
  2. 'HAVING worked so hard for a precious priority pic' think there's pretty heavy sarcasm in that comment.
  3. Think you mean debutants. A debutante is a woman.
  4. Slightly overcast, like my mood after seeing that game.
  5. Judd chose money. I can cop being on the bottom of the ladder but the way they are being coached is shameful.
  6. I agree. All this "Tom Scully this, Tom Scully that" from supporters who sound like schoolgirls with a crush makes me sick. Our club's reputation is being irreparably damaged over this.
  7. Didn't see the game. If you support Carlton you support, or turn a blind eye to, cheating. It is in the fabric of the club. Gee Tom Scully & other potential draftees must be watching the Dees & thinking 'can't wait to play for that club! Kicking backwards, missing targets, missing goals'. It's all v. depressing.
  8. I can't remember when I've been so ashamed to be a Demons supporter. That rubbish before half-time, winding the clock down, was embarrassing. Dwayne Russell & co are laughing at the way Melbourne is playing. Galling to be mocked by someone like him. Do all those pro-tankers think the team can unlearn this unappealing style of football? Are we gaining supporters w. this rubbish? Will anyone ever want to play for this team of duffers, coached badly?
  9. CW has always had an anti-Demon thing -- I've never been able to work out where it came from. Can only think it's that Richmond-supporter resentment of us because we made the finals w. regularity from the late 80s to 2006. I'll always remember that awful Steve Price (Richmond supporter), when he was still on Melbourne radio, ranting about Melbourne & a "rare' appearance in the finals. He was totally wrong.
  10. I know most here are pro tanking but the way this season is going is testing my loyalty. If you teach the defenders to go up three at a time can you then unteach that? I am ashamed & embarrassed. This tanking thing might just misfire.
  11. Vote now! Looks like the Underwood family are having their say -- http://www.theage.com.au/polls/sport/form2.html
  12. I know Lewis Jetta got a mention elsewhere here because his aunt spoke about him at the fabulous event last week. But just by way off a progress report ... a fellow WAFL watcher, much more of an expert than I am, reckoned he'd got ahead of himself & his form had been pretty ordinary lately. Then on Saturday I listened to Swans getting shellacked by East Perth & Jetta did nothing until the last quarter when he kicked goal of the round -- on the run, 55m out & the commentators said it hit the fence on the full. Just wanting to keep his name in calculations ...
  13. What Arthur Daley would call "GBH of the ear'oles".
  14. Yes, there was an audible sigh when a Geelong player dropped a mark. I listened to the ABC commentary for a couple of quarters. Have my problems w. them, too -- the whining MacLure especially & the constant use of "Pettard" -- but they were far more positive about the Dees. (i've had the luxury of watching the replay on Fox tonight).
  15. It's not because she is a woman I don't like her, it's that she has a horrible voice. She was also extremely biased against us. She's from Adelaide, so it's unlikely that she's a Geelong supporter. But she came across as chief of their cheersquad.
  16. I love the old-fashioned stripes of 2 (I have a hand-knitted scarf). Surely there's some marketability in retro? After all, our best days are in the past.
  17. Agree, Johnson is a nothing player. It's just that beating Carlton, & I reckon by then -- rd 21? they'll be heading for the finals, trying to shore up a place -- I'd like to land a blow to expose them as an ordinary side.
  18. I would get easily the most satisfaction from beating Carlton -- because of their "culture", Judd & Johnson & because I loathe them.
  19. Saw that Jack Darling -- named at CHF -- & he's a lump of a kid who takes a big grab. I thought he was a bit Jono Brown-ish but someone who's a better judge than me said Wayne Carey-like! But, hell, he's a bottom-ager, so probably headed for the GC.
  20. I remember that one of the many theories on websites last year was that WC had told Daniel Rich to take it easy & I think his carnival wasn't too special. But history shows ....
  21. Any idea how much we've raised? Must be enough to cover the guernsey & more. Anyone who hasn't should read Susie's Facebook contribution. Made me v. proud to be a Dee.
