  1. dee-luded, surely you wouldn't be happy with another untried in Scott Burns over Eade?

We have to go with a proven coach thise time and thank god there seem to be a few keen. We can't afford to stuff up for a third time.

Sounds like such a misguided choice would be moot in any case:

"It's believed that one of the conditions associated with an AFL bail-out of the stricken Demons is that they employ an experienced head as senior coach to take over on a permanent basis from the sacked Mark Neeld."

  2. it should be online...its no secret surely. (constitution )

the letter was published as :

Commission needed to help fix Melbourne Football Club

on the Herald Sun site http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/opinion/commission-needed-to-help-fix-melbourne-football-club/story-fni0ffsx-1226665870958

but for a change I couldnt find another link to get around the digital pass :(

    Thanks for that.

Unsure why the const. isn't readily available as it is for many clubs...

A search for "constitution" on the MFC site returns the Carlton FC constitution - lol.

  3. AN egm ..

    really...

I cant even find the constitution...let alone how to instigate an EGM lol

There are groups far more interested in such a thing and they cant figure it out either..lol

I understand what your getting at RPFC ..but the nett result is they all carry on with littel real accountability to the general membership who'll probably never have been informed of what their intent was because all the deals get done without cause for an election.

It doesnt make for a very "inclusive" family does it

Any member can obtain a copy of the constitution from the club - I did this week.

I'm finding it harder to locate this "open letter" from JK - was it not published online anywhere?

  4. Out of footy in the sense of directly coaching, but he has headed up the Swans development academy since he left coaching is my understanding. But correct in that getting a team the way he wants it would be a few years, and the structure of the footy dept won't be a magic fix in a couple of weeks.

Let's not forget he was coaching the Easts Bulldogs under 16s in 2011 people!

  5. The big thing about getting a proven coach is they start with credibility.

That enables them to weather the very hard times ahead.

No one will be asking half way through the first year can this person coach?

We will all know they can, so it therefore must be the players.

    Entirely agree OD.

  6. The argument for "no rookie coaches ever again" is really dumb. All premiership coaches were rookies at some time or another. We need the right person. We need experience now, because we need to unite behind a name and get some immediate confidence. But Roos, Clarkson, Worsfold, Longmire are all great recent coaches who came into a club as a 1st time senior coach and became premiers. Don't just feel stuff... think!!!

My personal opinion is that there is far less certainty surrounding a "rookie coach".

Experience counts for a lot and we can't have someone learning on the job.

Having tried this route twice, consecutively and failed miserably, and given our predicament, I think it would be lunacy to go around again.

There are no guarantees even with a proven coach, but surely you can be more confident.

  7. Please please please please get Roos.

Eade my 2nd choice. Williams 3rd.

(Obviously Clarkson is top choice, but won't happen)

Do not want inexperience ever again. Don't go near any assistants. Don't even sniff around.

Pretty much agree, although I'd have Ratten in front of Eade & Williams.

Sorry, I know you said no assistants...

  8. Had to be done.

Now, watch the media turn - They've all been calling for Neeld's head, now that he's gone, they'll say it's just a cop-out for Melbourne's average playing group.

Almost can guarantee that. This sort of thing is what turns me away from wanting to be a journalist.....

Don't be so easily dissuaded, they are not journalists.

  9. Here is something I have posted before and you have missed apparently - there are no wholesale Board elections at the end of the year.

The renewal we will get will be a nod and a handshake - the way that Stynes took over from Gardner. Do you see how this impacts the 'WHAT'?

There will be no wholesale Board elections, a member petition is required. I don't know how many, I don't hav the consititution in front of me.

I am assuming by 'WHAT' you mean the direction of the club.

I care about direction I want it to be industry standard and AFL-endorsed.

Jackson is attempting to do that today. He is the one with the mandate to change below (restructure of FD, personnel, new coach) and above (him and Freeman review of how the Board is made-up).

He has the mandate and he will force his AFL-endorsed will upon the club.

    There is your 'WHAT.'

For good or bad, our lot will soon be aligned with what the AFL expect of us.

I was told it was only 100 members... As an aside I was also told the cost of such an election is around 10K

Curious, does anyone have a copy of the constitution? I note that other clubs have theirs readily available online, yet a search on the MFC site returns the Carlton FC Constitution.

  10. You poor little illiterate simpleton.

Hopefully they realise you are missing when they call the roll at lunch .

Didnt take you long did it LOL, I think I dropped 50 cents last night out the front of the Gatwick, put it towards your 2Dim Sims for dinner tonight.

I put it back in your hat .

Time to change the sign around your neck too.

You've spilled pumpkin soup all over it .

    Or is that snot?

    You guys are brilliant.

    Seriously awesome banter!

  11. It's an unpaid role as Bonkers said.

Don't throw a coach or a CEO at me and tell me it is the same thing.

Ultimate direction of the club is the domain of the Board and loyalists are a must.

If anyone out there would like to renounce their allegiances to any other club and tie themselves with the MFC then they can be considered. But this is not the place for independence.

And, again, the most important position is the CEO and he is an AFL paratrooper. We have what we so desire - an outside voice charged with running the club that has AFL approval and support.

I agree player/CEO is not the same thing, but I don't agree that money is the only possible factor that could overcome any conflict created by "barracker allegiance". How big a conflict would that be really and why does money neutralise such a thing?

We are looking for a proud professional.

    I quote Peter Jackson below:

"I think that Melbourne being the centre of the universe for AFL footy. Its a big challenge. Its a founding Club. Its a proud Club. I think that people will want to come here and get it back up where it should be. The whole of the competition want Melbourne up and about. The AFL want Melbourne up and about. No-one wants this footy club down where we are at the moment. So people will get behind it and we will make it work."
"Ive been asked numerous times today How will we entice anyone here?. Easy. Its the biggest and best challenge in football at the moment and there are a lot of people out there who like those sort of challenges. Fundamentally thats why I am here. I cant say no to a challenge. So there will be others who will say the same thing."

  12. I have as much respect for Ad men as I do for child pornographers.

If you couldn't make a buck from advertising in the 80's you were doing the wrong drugs.

The Prime Minister is a deceitful, nasty piece of campaign herself .

Jnr-you should buy the Age as well as the Sun sometime and I'll explain to you why they are different-but the same.

I like your take on things Biff. Ever thought of running as an independent?

The Teabag Party has a nice ring to it?

  13. Whoa, calm down there.

I have said it twice of late in two posts in reply to mjt who thinks there is a correlation between bad governance and having Demons as Presidents.

The former does not entail the latter at all.

I'd say it's a pretty fair correlation on mjt's part. But you are correct - "correlation does not imply causation."
