  1. Excuse my ignorance with apps, but what does it do ? What are the benefits ? Is it just an easier way to read the website on your mobile ?

If you have a mobile device (not an android) and looking for something similar then there is this http://m.melbournefc.com.au/ which does similar things to the app (this is a "mobile version" of the site rather than an "app")

  2. Excuse my ignorance with apps, but what does it do ? What are the benefits ? Is it just an easier way to read the website on your mobile ?

An app (short for mobile application) is specifically programmed and "installed" in OS. As such it can make use of the features of your "smartphone" (such as GPS for example). This one contains articles / videos / stats / fixtures / twitter integration / access to demons shop / membership info / tickets etc

An app is distinct from a "Mobile version" or "skin" such as used by demonland - which is a mobile "theme" (enhanced / adjusted design/display of the website for viewing on on a mobile device - EG sized to avoid scrolling to read a single sentence) - and is usually just the same content via alternate url...

  3. Didn't someone post last year about an article on the ASIC website regarding Energy Watch re. owing money or something? Perhaps some of the elephants on here (ie the ones that don't forget), can help out a goldfish like me and retrace the link? Cheers.

Think it was these (and this thread generally)

  4. Yes I wont get into the Schwab conversation here!!! Dr Who could be the whole board in one. Hes more up with the modern game and no one else in Australia seems to be. Could prove to be an asset to the club!

Pretty sure he is contracted with Auskick until at least the end of the season, so unfortunately, won't happen.

  5. Cox, was injured all year as was Embley & Glass, not to mention 2011 was the first year Shuey had no injuries heading into the year and a full pre season under his belt. They put the cue in the rack from about round 14 in 2010 sent every one away for surgery and started preparing for 2011 well in advance.

Their older players and leaders are outstanding and if you take them out they fall back with the pack very quickly. Where we can gain hope from Meth Coast rise last season is the likes of Scott Selwood, Will Schofield, Brad Ebert and others got the 50-60 games into them hich can not be underestimated

    Well said PSD

  6. I do not over rate Beamer at all. He gets beaten by many of the better midfielders. He rarely beats them.

I don't disagree with that - he isn't the most talented player going around.

The same could be said for Jnr, but it was mistake to get rid of him.

  7. How could a player (not in the leadership group) carry a groin into round freakin' ONE!? Is there a chance he was dropped from the leadership group because he isn't honest about his physical fitness? I seem to recall him hardly getting a touch against Geelong because of a cold he had (which no-one but he knew about).

    It's a good question.

Not sure why you suspect him of dishonesty so quickly though (I don't recall the cold against Geelong thing) - maybe the injury occurred during the game?

    Does seem strange....

  8. The introduction of the speeding analogy is not relevant as all know they are breaking the law. Here's is a more relevant analogy:

10 people walk over a rope bridge in front of you, all of them first checking the strength of the bridge, and you also do the similar checks and then walk across and the bridge fails. But it can't be said that you were as negligent as you would be if you were the only bunny to check out the bridge. Surely if others have reached the same (but sadly erroneous) conclusion as you, you are not the complete fool you seem to want to paint the mfc as being. Yes, I agree you should have checked even more carefully than those other guys (and they should have done so too since they have all now fallen into the abyss). But that is hindsight. One learns from other people's experiences, sometimes it leads you into trouble, but that is life.

I'll say it again. Yes there have been stuff ups. But some posters seem to be looking for more failings regardless of the evidence just so they can flagellate themselves and the club. Maybe supporting mfc since the 1960's attracts or develops such people….. It's understandable.

Did any of the 10 people check the bridge's Facebook account?

  9. This will get some good responses.

I personally could not give a rats bum where we get dollars from. Yes, some of his rants are a little off but he has a go at everyone.

Over a few beers with some mates last night, i now officially believe this great club is in a whole lot of trouble.

Look at the clubs who have been down and out over the last 15 years and look what they have done, flags to Norf, collingwood, geelong, hawks, port. These clubs have all been basket cases but have come out the other end(port not so much). The MFC is an absolute disgrace. We have had more coaches than hot dinners and are perinnial disapointments.

Energy Watch gives us dollars and within 12 months it will all be forgotten about.

    MFC...................Man up and play on.

Watch Cam's press conference if you still don't understand.

It's about a lot more than the money.

    They did man up.
