  1. He's not as skilled as a Gary Ablett, or Luke Hodge, but his football skills are better than most of the players on our list. Plenty of times I have seen him take strong overhead marks, kick long range goals, deliver lace out passes etc. The guy has the ability to play the game better than nearly all of our players. He simply does have talent. Have I seen it as oftern as we would all like..............of course not! And looking at plenty of the other posts many agree he has talent.........what we can all agree on is we simply don't see it enough. I don't recall him being called a champion either. Pick 3 comes with no guarentees. Plenty of ordinary footballers have been top draft picks, and never reached their potential. Most of the vitriol towards Col seems to be about him being such a high pick and not delivering to that expectation........I can understand that, but we have to face the possibilty that it will never eventuate, and he may end up just being an average footballer. We'll have to agree to disagree on the talent point. I think we can both agree that we would like to seen him deliver on his potential a lot more than what we currently are.
  2. Hang on,hang on, imposing himself on the game..............go through 90% of the list and you will find players who haven't imposed themselves on a game, that's half our problem, and not a problem to be laid solely at the feet of Col. Because a player doesn't impose himself on a game, doesn't mean they aren't talented. We're talking marking, kicking, handballing, reading the play, etc etc..............his ability to do the fundamentals of the game better than another player. Think you've got you meanings mixed up there champ!
  3. No talent........right okay.........so you have seen nothing in 6 years to indicate he has talent........is that right?
  4. Benny.....absolutely spot on!!!!! When I watch him play, he looks to me like an athlete who still doesn't fully trust his body, and occasionally plays within himself as a result. Talk of getting rid of him is farcical. He is one of the few genuinely talented players on the list.
  5. Agree completely! They were shocking, and for a team supposedly ready to make their move, they have very little to get excited about!
  6. So is that all because he was a number 3 draft pick, because we aint getting that from the other 22 running out week in week out, so why demand it of him? He has played two games this year......agreed, he has been average, but he has plenty of friends! Last year, in a train wreck season, he had his best year..........he had a reasonable year last year.........not what we would expect from a top draft pick, but a solid season. I can't help thinking he is assessed far harsher because of where he was drafted..........but I question whether that is fair. Plenty of top draft picks have been unmitigated duds! He may just end up a fair player. We might just have to get used to the idea.
  7. Lucky to get off???? Pfft!!!!! It was a push that turned into one of the greatest dives of all time! The only reason it went up was because of the dive which the umpire fell for............the camera angle made it look far worse than it was............and that's why it was thrown out!
  8. So what is a pass mark for Col? What do supporters who have canned him, and said to trade / delist him at year end want him to do to save his career?
  9. I hope Nathan's Dad is okay, and best wishes go out to him for a speedy recovery! An absolutely pathetic act, and hopefully these thugs get charged!
  10. It won't be Costco, because among other things, they also sell tyres, and are aligned with that french brand with the big fat rubber dude as their logo. (couldn't bring myself to write another tyre brand here with the support from Hankook).
  11. I used to be a fan, but last nights show was just crap. And do they think kicking off the first show with Crawford taking off Tom Cruise from Risky Business is funny?????? That was pathetic! We have to sit through that kind of rubbish each year for the Grand Final show, and now they launch the season with it! I actually liked Trev........sure some of his jokes were lame, but he came up with a few good ones here and there, and he was funnier than meatheads like Crawford, and Fevola attempting to be funny. Don't think I'll waste anymore time tuning in this year!
  12. I've kept an eye on him in his first few games with the Blues, and hardly anything to write home about. Is doing no more or less for them that he did for us when he got a chance............but he's only played two preseason games for them. Some of their posters are right on the money.............when a few of their better running defenders come back like Scotland, and Walker, he may find it a bit harder to get a game. Good luck to him though................he left for his own reasons, and I wish him all the best.
  13. I'm all for managing these kids well, but let's not completely wrap these guys up in cotton wool! There's only a few months between Watts, and they age both Franklin and Roughhead were when thy started at the Hawks. The Hawks managed them well, playing them two weeks on, two weeks off, and throwing them in early never hindered their development. Gte him in there, and get some experience, so we have something to cheer about and get excited about for the future!
  14. His bio (Colin Sylvia that is) says he had 100 more touches in 2008, than any of his previous seasons, and played the most games in a season to date with 18. Sure, being caught out having a chuckle after a loss on the weekend wasn't great..............but after him finally gtting his body right last year, why would we want to ge rid of him right now. Make no mistake, this is a big year for him............but after coming off a solid season last year, let's not hang the guy for an average outting in a preseason game!
  15. Far be it from me to defend a player from Collingwood, however I consider your opinions on Buckley as a player to be just a little off the mark.
  16. Mick McGuane doesn't = champion player though. If it is McGuane, it's hardly worth dancing in the streets..............a big name like Buckley, Roo or Hird would be though! Buckley.........how good would that be........could he teach our young blokes a thing or two!
  17. Glad he is staying! B & F for Greeny in 2009!
  18. If the club does it's full due diligence, and can say that in their considered opinion picking up Warnock is a better option that what they think will be available at pick 19, or even 17 for that matter, then I'm happy for them to use one of those picks and trade for him. That's the decision right there. Pick 24 is already on the table for Freo, so if nothing else, they already have that. Warnock won't fall to us into the PSD. If we wan't him we will have to trade for him.
  19. I like Brad Green as a player, and hope he stays at the MFC. But if he doesn't, and wants to finish his career somewhere else, then good luck to him. So long as the club receives a fair trade for him, then I don't see the problem. If it was simply a fact of not liking the club, he would have left long ago!
  20. He can choose to go where ever he wants! As stated earlier, he owes nobody anything, apart from looking after his own interests and future. If he thinks it's with Carlton good luck to him. Would be great if we landed him, but if not so be it. The challenge for our club is to become a club players scramble to play for, instead of the other way around!
  21. I'm with you Skipper! No good reason to let Green go.............should be kept IMO! I don't see a prob with him asking for 3 years, and the club standing its ground on 2. They will sort it out, and I would expect him to stay.......one of the few players who have had a real crack over the last few years!
  22. Unfortunately until we have our act together as a club, this kind of thing will continue to happen. It's annoying because we do need a decent ruckman.
