  1. just heard word from a former high performance person from the industry.

the whisper was something like this

    Hogan & P19 to GWS for Dylan Shiel + P1 + P9
    Dees recruit Boyd with P1 & Freeman/Crouch? with P9. Dees use P2 on a Rockliff/Shuey type.
GWS offer Hogan to Freo for Fyfe & P15? or Eagles for ??????
Hogan gets to play at home, Boyd gets to play at home, Shiels gets to come home, Rockliff ?
  2. Heard on telly that Greg Wells may try to get on the MFC board. Quoted as saying something about like getting 80's players involved. Interesting, like he may be trying to distance himself from the junior old boys that plague us at the moment. Any opinions?

Wellsy has a mature head on his shoulders & is a sound business man, & has played at a premiership winning club in its prime.

    He would be good.

  4. Now that Liam Jurrah has been acquitted, he's expressed the desire to return to play in the AFL in 2014 - Not guilty and Jurrah dreams of return to AFL. The article says that ... "The earliest he could get back into the AFL system is 2014 and he would need to be picked in the national or pre-season drafts for that to happen. The most likely path is to join a state league club and play well enough to demand attention in the draft."

Liam has lots of issues in SA where all he's had has been heartbreak but he thrived for most of the time he was at Melbourne and mentored by RudeBoy. Would the club welcome him and encourage an association between Jurrah and Casey or would it treat him like Fev a couple of years back?

Nice sentiment & I hope Liam can make a comeback, but the best way to change past behaviours is to keep your support network but move all else & start afresh, IMO...

  5. I reckon we are missing Blease and Clark more than any other players.

Just that midfield run from Blease and Clark......well he is just Clark, we are a 4 or 5 goal better side.

On Davey, what i have seen of him is generally very good, a big improvement on last two years.

Remember he had a very good indigenous game, and was great against Port last week.

Nah, hard headed Leadership. Clarke leadership, yes.

Too many back of the bus boys who need to learn to step up & drive the thing.

  6. Please forgive me, but I saw the Subject of this thread , and thought I was going to find out about a ne w Cadbury sponsorship of MFC.

I've re-read most of the posts, and amidst all the rambling I must have missed whether or not there's a rumour that a good sponsorship is in the offing. Is there any evidence that Cadbury' s are coming on board?

maybe the timing is linked to the tank enquiry?

  7. I dont believe it was the AFL that said they would respond by the end of the week - I think it was reporters who said the AFL would respond by the end of the week.

The "papers" have been so wrong so frequently that thismay well be another report that will not be all that accurate. (when I heard that the AFL had handed the MFC a 600 800 1000 page document and gave us a month to respond and then it was reported that the AFL was going to make a decision on our response within 4 days ??? I thought WTF ????). Anyways I am confident that this will come to a head in the next day week month year decade millenium.

the papers might have it on good authority

  8. The roads are really dangerous for cyclists these days. Few motorists know sufficient laws to keep themselves and others safe in a car, let alone the regulations applicable to cyclists. Fewer still even care - might versus right. I was down towards Inverloch around new years and the number of cars that overtook cyclists on blind corners at 80+ k/h was distressing. Also, If you're travelling 'bush', how about looking at the tourist info first that says quite clearly that the 84th annual road race is on and plan accordingly. Beach road? What, you mean the cycling mecca that's been that way for almost a century?

Everyone needs to lift thier game. People on bikes are not good cyclists, just like people in cars are not good drivers. In the CBD from 4pm through to 7pm a surprisingly large number of people on bikes attempt to get home. Most have some form of lighting, although those that don't, in the middle of winter where everything is dark grey at 5pm, are in my opinion suicidal. Many also wear black on black with black trim. Also in my opinion suicidal. I was recently abused crossing Little Lonsdale. My fault was not looking right twice (the wrong way) for the cyclist wearing black, with no lights, speeding (road is 40 limitied) down a one way street. The moron came very close to cleaning me up and then abused and blamed me, Almost also got run down in Rathdowne by a pretty girl on a pretty bike that decided the pedestrian crossing with the little green man going didn't apply to her. Ran over my feet. 'After you' I said. She didn't say a word, just kept on going.

And so castles made of.. wait. Where was my rant?

Hope the backs holding up while all the other bits mend mate.

Some are planning some more sports to play on the Highways, One is motorized Skate Boarding. Groups of up to 50 at a time, over mini marathon distances. Another mooted is Ultra Trotting, Trots that run along Highways for 50 kilometers.

Some even want to take over the highway Intersections to play six-a-side soccer, during light changes.

whilst driving from burwood to the city and return i noticed a lot of bikes

i then noticed that virtually no bikes (1 in about a 100 it seemed) had any rear vision mirrors

this amazed me. Is there not a regulation saying you must have rear vision mirrors

    maybe i'm missing something

anyone care to explain this mystery?

Rear view mirrors? It would be pointed at their face to see how smooth they look.

    no indicators.

no hazardlights like slow moving or dangerous vehicles have.

just the competative spirit required to be playing on a road near you, & just in case, the 'bird' is at hand when required.

  9. This is all kind of funny to me, here in the States tanking isn't THAT bad of a thing. I mean, it's looked down upon, but it'd never be investigated or anything like that. A few years ago the top draft choice in the NFL was Andrew Luck. Fans of teams in contention to finish last called it "Suck for Luck." Of course no coaches or players ever said they were tanking but among fans it's just kind of shaken off.

There's some evidence the Cleveland Cavaliers tanked to get Lebron James, but here in the states for some reason it doesn't have the same stigma that it does over there. Or maybe the leagues here just don't care.

Reading you post fits with my unease about all this.

Demitriou has said all along that list management is allowed but tanking is not. Understandably, as other clubs have done likewise.

But now this year, all of a sudden the media start driving this thru a former player now with the blues? Many changes are taking place at the moment around the AFL with Carlton changing coaches & much change within the free agency areas & trading.

If Demitriou says list management is OK, but now there is a change of tack from within the AFL itself behind closed doors, is this a play against us, or is there a power play going on within the AFL?

Is Demitriou safe himself? Is someone working to destabilise his position within the organisation?

Or are there bigger questions about MFC, other than the Draft questions, coming out of the AFL?

Is Fitxpatrick after something, or is Gillon McLachlan up to something?

Something does not fit right in all this, from getting the stamp of approval last year, to investigations this year.
