"Right now Demons have a imbalance in their forward line. It's quite obvious today. Jackson, Weiderman, McDonald, Fritsch, Melksham, are all kpf or play tall and arn't that quick. Crows were able to transition the ball out of defense too easily. Salem out really hurt them on the rebound too. I expect Melksham wont get up to play though"

"I don’t think Melbourne’s midfield is that deep really.

Oliver and petracca are stars and they likely get viney back but then they drop away in terms of centre square mids. Langdon and brayshaw play wing mostly. Their advantage is the ruck. Even without dunks and treloar we have more depth.

    Bont - petracca
    Libba - Oliver
    Macare - viney
    Smith - ?

    Wings
    Hunter - brayshaw
    R smith - Langdon

They got smacked in clearances by Carlton and smashed in centre clearances by Sydney"

I hope all Demonlanders who are there today engage in a "woo-hoo-hoooo" after each goal, get it ringing around the ground

    Haha, that too, obviously ?

I was meaning (if it wasn't clear) the guy who does the loud "wo-hoo" after the crowd has quietened down a bit after a goal. You can often hear it on the TV broadcast for our games at AO

Shout out to all DL-ers attending today’s game. Please cheer extra loud and proud for those of us who won’t be there. Enjoy the match!!!

    GO DEES!!!!
    ❤️?❤️?❤️?

I wonder if the 'wo-hoo after every goal' guy will be there today? ?

Shouldn’t we have moved onto the ‘What they are saying at West Lakes’ thread by now? ?

    Unfortunately, they aint saying much!

One big thread on BF where they are talking about team selection and whatnot (yawn) and this preview thread that went up a couple of hours ago. Only a few replies so far...

  5. JT finds the players. JM was the guy who actually did the negotiating and got the deals done.

How do you reckon we'd have gone with same recruitment team of JT and co if Dodoro was the front man instead of JM?

It'll be interesting to see how we go in the upcoming trade periods.

"I think we can beat Melbourne, more on the law of averages, they are due for a loss and just fell in for a win vs the Swans IMO.
Brown and McDonald wont present the same problems as Bruce and Naughton plus Oliver is only half the player the Bont is and Cripps owes us a big one. Blues by 16 points, not because we are great but more because Melbourne are getting ahead of themselves, due for a loss and we can defend them better IMO"

Jackson out sucks. Big time. He's not just a "second ruck". His midfield/clearance work when he's up the ground, and particularly in at centre bounces, is strong. Whether Weideman or TMac, they don't have his skill in the clearance work.

Good luck to Weideman. This is his chance. Jackson will come straight back in when he's ready, so Weideman has two weeks to try to convince the FD that someone else should make way for Jackson.

    This.

Jackson is a couple of players rolled up in to one, so is very hard to replace.

Overall we probably gain a bit of goal kicking firepower with Weid coming in, but definitely lose out in the other areas mentioned.

I'd like to see Sparrow come in with Weid to fill that midfield/clearance/centre bounce gap, maybe at the expense of Melksham?

I really wish people would wear masks on the packed trains to and from the football like the LAW says you should.

Less than 10% of people are wearing masks, and I just don't get why. It is always crowded on those trains, how hard is it to slap a mask on?

FFS the complacency of so many is going to really screw us. And I don't know why nobody is monitoring it either. We should have people on trains, especially footy trains, ensuring mask compliance.

At the moment with 0 new cases beyond this one returned traveller, it seems unlikely the crowds will be cancelled. We know the risk of being outdoors is super minimal.

I caught my first train since well before Covid on the weekend and was actually quite surprised that almost everyone was wearing masks.

Main exceptions were a couple of the usual 'Facebook certified medical expert' types, and Sydney supporters. The latter I assume were in town for the game, and maybe didn't know the requirements re masks on public transport?

    How's this for a bump?!?

I came from demonology originally, can remember thinking this joint was wack and the 7 active posters on demonology were way smarter than you bunch of lunatics. From memory it was around the time Ricky Petterd was running around, always liked that guy.

    Anyone else from/remember demonology?

Wow, this thread and all the old demonology usernames is a bit of a blast from the past!
