  2. Can't complain that the Twitter writer isn't positive. Not sure glimpse is the right word!! Very poor - kicked first goal inside a minute and kicked three for the rest of the game. They were far too strong around the ball big heavy set players smashed their opponents. The forward line played four talls for 80% of the game and it just didn't work. Could not hold the ball down there and they waltz out when they felt like it. Terlich and Lumumba got plenty of it but got caught it turned it over especially Terlich. The only positive I thought was Mitch King who looked OK in the ruck and got better the longer the game went. Max King struggled unfortunately. Weideman I think I am right had one kick one mark for the day late in the last Qtr. They way they kicked it to him was putrid. Count on one hand how many kicks hit targets. Quite disappointing the day to be honest.

  3. Imagine if that poor excuse for a journalist on AFL.com who was real clever showing a side we apparently missed out on, did some research. Rather then showing blokes who were picked 16 picks later how about try the next pick as that shows who the next club thought was the one we missed out on. Makes a whole different story

  4. Went down for a look. Quite a few players stayed inside (or I assumed they did).

    Absent from the outside stuff were Clark, Toumpas, Watts, Jamar, Dawes, Tapscott, Barry, Kent, Clisby, Brynes, Blease

    Frawley, Terlich, Gawn joined in stages. Viney did 95% as did Hogan and Michie

    Spencer and McDonald did laps

    Tyson and Garland did lap after lap running. Tyson pulled away from Garland on every lap so I reckon he ain't far away from full training

    Bail, Grimes, Vince, Cross, Dunn & Jetta broke away and did some timed lap running that was exhausting. Bail led them from Cross, Grimes, Vince Dunn & Jetta

    Strauss run laps on his own

    Nicholson did a very small amount of training

    Roos and all the coaching staff were in the middle.

    Solid session from where I sat went about 1and 1/2 hours if they started at 9.30am

  5. Got down there for about 90 mins this morning. Hopefully if I forget anyone others that were there may post.

    Without going any further the highlight by far was seeing Mitch doing some 1/2 pace run throughs for about 30 mins and then kick to kick with Dawes for about 20 mins. Was using both feet with his kicking. Even better was when he was finished he stayed out on the track to watch the guys do a full length training drill. Itching to join in he was.

    The only player i couldn't see out there was Grimes but everyone else was out doing something.

    Evans, Dawes and Hogan did laps as did Dunn. Sylvia and Trengove with Gillies and two others did about 80% of the work I saw.

    The new draftees were doing 3/4 pace run throughs on the far side of the ground before they joined in some of the ball work drills. They along with Tynan and Barry then went to athletics track for fitness training.

    Plenty of those 150 - 200 m sprints with the majority of the group doing those. Standouts Mc Donald, Nicholson, Howe, Jones, Watts, Blease (relative to where he has been) Magner.

    Couple of full length kicking drills with fast ball movement with hands to carry the ball some beautiful foot skills on display from Jimmy Toumpas and Dom Barry doing this drill that got Neeld excited. Toumpas looks like an absolute jet. Everything he did looked athletic, smooth and with control. His kicking was superb.

    Then some full length drills where basically it was "chaos calls" by the coaches and working really hard on transition from defence to attack or vice versa. Guys i noticed included Howe, Jones, Taggert, Blease and Jetta.

    Viney was involved in everything to today but was really blowing hard afetr the 200m sprints. looked quite distressed however motored on for the rest of the 90 minutes I saw.

    Jack Hannath trained the whole session.

    Any questions happy to try and answer

    They were still hard at when I left.

  6. I was in the store this week and had the same conversation. It has been agreed verbally and we were waiting for the company to sign off. It is their standard operation that a number of different people in the organization have to sign off and that is the delay. Any day now they hope to have the signed documentation

  7. Was on 3AW. Not a lot said. Harped back top the Bailey sacking and that the players had too much say re Cameron Schwab etc. Brother of soon to be football director stated that all Brad Green has done wrong was complain about the working conditions last year after being asked his opinion. Clearly they indicated it was very much Bailey and the players vs CS and the admin.

    Niall thinks they will go with co captains of Grimes or Trengove with a senior player. Only name he mentioned was Beamer and that was asking teh question whether he is up to it. He wasn't sure.

    No facts given, no proof given just a hunch

    Quality radio. talk bout quite news week (aside from the tennis)

  8. Just got home from Casey.  training started at 4.00pm and at 6.40pm a number of players were still on the ground.

    Memories of what they did

    Bail & Gysberts walked laps. Gysberts had like a sleeve fron hip to just below the knee. Only padding on Bail was around the ankles.

    Wona went off earlier and didn't see him again. Not sure what he did

    Sylvia, Tapscott, Jurrah and Tommy Mac did run throughs all day and didn't join the main group. None of them looked injured or concerned so I reckon for LJ and Col in particular it may have been their "light" training session.

    A different group of about 10 - 12 did some of their own training away from the main group as well. It did look like the majority in there were the drafted and rookie guys. It also had a couple of the long term injured from last year (Gawn etc)

    Plenty of running, sprints agility runs etc

    The main group did a half ground sprint 20 sec break 30 metre sprint 10 second break another 30 metre sprint. 1 min and then same again. Did this about 5 or 6 times. Most impressive here was Scully as others tried to keep up.

    Then into some footy drills including kicking practice, handball keepings off games. Then into ground groups (Forward, Middle, Back).

    Backs played two on two with the defenders trying to touch teh ball on the way through. Plenty of switching in this drill.

    Mids rucking setup and then sprint away from contests.

    Forwards continuous leading hitting targets front and centre work.

    Most of the drills were over sustained periods hence over 2 hours on the track

    Observations

    Scully - superb!

    Moloney, Petterd, Dunn - plenty of encouragement to others.

    In fact in  one on one contest where ball was kicked to Moloney, Kelvin Lawrence spoiled beautiful with great closing speed. Ball moved away and Moloney turned and high five and plenty of well done encouragement.

    Howe - good size looked promising;

    Trengove - muscled up but looked more agile than  when I last saw him 3 weeks ago (if that makes sense);

    Rivers - Looked really good;

    Lawrence - silky smooth mover;

    Blease - pleasing;

    Maric - up the front in most drills;

    Bennell - Looked super;

    Davey - Looked fit;

    Campbell - great size;

    Spencer- looked pretty good as did Stef Martin;

    Gawn - Bloody big;

    Cook, Davis & McDonald - all good sizes and need beef but wouldn't look out of place (esp Davis);

    Nicholson - Looked quite accomplished and certainly not out of place.

    Very few injured players

    Btw did I mention Scully - What a Jet.

    Ask any questions and I will try answer best I can.

  9. Hi All,

    I was there yesterday as I am every week. I am still hurting now and it was really hard to sit there and take it.

    The one burning question I have is who under Bailey is a better player now then before he started ?

    I can think of one (maybe two if I am being generous) but I would be interested to see what Demonland posters think

  10. I read somewhere, (think it was 'ology a few days ago) that Tapscott had a crack in his hip bone or cartilage..

    Havent heard anything since tho.. only about his family situation.

    Has anyone thats been to training recently seen him run? Do normal sprints and endurance etc..

    Or has it just been tennis-ball stuff the whole time?

    Last time i saw him running and training would have been mid Jan I think.

    The three sessions I have been to since has been the stationery drills with tennis balls.

  11. Great report demonwithin. Thanks.

    Did Davey appear unhampered ? Did he train freely ? (ie. no concerns from the weekend).

    I like your view on the rehab group and quite pleased with Blease's report.

    I reckon he is an interesting one HT. He was wearing the bike shorts which he has done since a scare a couple of weeks ago. He only played a half on Saturday

    My gut feel is he has a little niggle and that has reduced his intensity at training. I have no doubt he was flying before Xmas.

    I personally wouldn't play him Sunday.
