  1. Not our worst player today. There's definitely potential there. just needs to clean up the turnovers and he'll be a good player.

I've been looking around the competition for young key forwards and I think I might have found 2. Firstly, this kid Jack Watts. Is in the right age bracket, is 196cm and runs 20m in 2.8 seconds. He's shown great improvement this season, will only get bigger and strong and could take the competition by storm. Secondly, how about a young kid Lucas Cook. Only drafted last year hasn't played a game yet, but has shown some terrific signs at VFL for a stick thin KPP. 196cm, has a frame to put on muscle and is a very smart footballer. Knows how to hit a target and can take a mark. As a bit of a smokey, how about we trade for a kid called JAck Fitzpatrick. He had glandular fever and injured in his first 2 season but should be over them by next year. Is 201cm key forward! Exactly what we need to develop. Is the right age bracket. All 3 of these young guys will be peaking when we are coming top 4 in 2-3 years time, so perfect age bracket. Imo, trading for these kids is wayyyyy better than continuously discussing the same old spuddish piles of poo like Tom Hawkins and Jesse White. And I'd also much rather talk about Watts, Cook and Fitzpatrick than speak about the most promising young key forwards from other teams that are under contract and the other club would never release them (Kurt Tippet and Josh Kennedy) What would it take to get it done?

Good god, will people stop suggesting dud key forwards as if they're going to fix all our problems. Hawkins and Jesse White are both spuds and would continue to be so at our club. Taylor Walker has promise, but no moreso than Cook or Watts and its a moot point anyways because he's already signed a deal with GWS. Fev is not the player he used to do, people need to get over the romanticised version of the type of player he could be back at afl. he's a cancer to any club he's at. Yes we need a key forward... but what we need to do is develop our own key forwards- Cook, Watts and Fitzpatrick. And if we're going to trade in a key forward we need to throw big money at a seriously quality one- like Dawes or Cloke from Collingwood.
  4. Interesting that we took 2 ruckman in a draft renowned to be shallow for rucks. However both these guyz are great value at 34 and 50 so definitely can't complain. At 34 and 50 you are always relatively speculative, so these guyz have huge potential. If one of these 2 become great afl players, we'll be happy

Why is everyone so obssessed with getting sheedy. He has been coach for 27 years! granted he's been a legend of the game, but the last 2-3 years he has been starting to lose the plot. his drafting last 3 years has been dodgy as. He picked up Camporeale and Chris heffernan ffs! something must be starting to go wrong upstairs if he's picking heffernan after disastrous 3 years at melbourne. Plus, above all, he plays favourites with some players just like daniher used to. How Mark Bolten has a spot on an afl list still is beyond me. if we are looking to the future, then Ratten is the man to take us places. The main good thing i see about sheedy is for marketing and sponsorship. guys! that is not a reason to get a coach!!!! I've been speaking to all my essendon supporter mates, and they ALL say without fail that sheedy is a legend but he's lost the plot about 2 years ago and that for melbourne to take him would be a big step back for them anyways this post wasnt meant to be about sheedy, but rather why ratten is such a capable candidate

The word is the Carlton are looking to take Michael Voss as coach this year but I'm not so upset by this for two reasons. Firstly I don't think Voss should be coaching simply because Carlton will give him a job without any experience. I think he needs a couple of years as an assistant first because he has no knowledge of how list management or the working of an AFL club really happen. However the other positive is that Brett Ratten could be available. I am a big fan of his, he has had a long and promising aprentiship including a season as an assistent at the demons. he knows our club and the troubles we face with marketing and finances. He will promote hardness and mental strength that is sadly lacking at our footy club atm. I would be happy with him as coach.
