I think with Goodwin gone it takes away from his desire to go to MFC only, and opens it up to other Victorian clubs. It's gone from MFC or bust to being open to other clubs, like Geelong. I remember it being reported that he had a trigger he was going to hit this year for an automatic two year extension too. Makes it very hard for any trade to get done regardless. If anything I suspect he stays at Fremantle and they give him more leeway to spend time in Victoria like we've done with Kozzie and WA.

I mean we didn't release him. He was out of contract.

Also offering JVR is like when Freo supporters were offering up Switkowski for Kozzy. They’ve got Amiss, Treacy, and now Voss all 22 and under playing KPF

I’m not mates with Ryan Daniels and I could’ve told you that. He’s spoken about it on his podcast. apparently there are at least a couple vic clubs that are interested in Darcy, Carlton and Essendon being main ones. His contract is only in the 700s so I think they’ll be able to trade him and his contract out pretty easily

Theoretically how do we get Jackson out of Freo? Now that Kozzy is secure we should go all in. It’s obvious that he really wants to get back.

I’d say Jackson wanting to come home forced their hand here. Once he came into the equation made it very easy for us to say he’s going nowhere unless we get Jackson, and Obviously they’re not letting him go. So then Kozzie has to choose between what will likely be another failed trade request to go home OR secure his future at a club he loves in one of the biggest contracts in AFL history. I think if Freo could make a trade happen he’d be out.

Very encouraging if his partner wants to stay. That's usually the main motivation for wanting to head home. I firmly believed he was out the door last season and if Bolton hadn't gone to Freo then we would've traded him for all of their firsts. Letting him spend a lot of extra time in WA is really good from the club tbh.

The comments specifically from Gawn is what they're talking about I think. Which is ironic becuase Luke Ryan was on the radio after the Melbourne game talking about Pickett playing for freo soon. Also mentioned that Jackson's camp are [censored] off at Melbourne too cos they reckon all the leaks are coming from here.

That's what it keeps coming back to. I just can't see Freo letting him go unless Kozzy goes back their way. Not while he still has four years and Darcy can't get on the park. Maybe its better to have a look at him a couple years down the track.

Sounds like a Neale to Fremantle situation where there's a commitment to the team he wants to be traded to while hiding it from his current team.

Pretty much what’s been said already. Except makes a point to mention that the position he plays (ie make me number 1 ruck) has more of an influence on his decision than the family issues. Also that Sean Darcy is on 700k which is honestly less than I thought. The dude clearly doesn’t think very well because I’m sure when he came to the club he was told he would be second to Darcy. I wonder if he wants to be Ruck or just around the ball more. Surprised they didn’t play him more as a midfielder when Darcy wasn’t injured.

I mean if you read the full quote Houston never actually lied. They're all carefully crafted statements. Even from Jacksons manager today it all alludes to him staying, but reading the words he actually stops short of saying that explicitly.
