It's ok to win and still be critical. That's what successful clubs do. Teams like the c*ts and h*wks didn't create premiership dynasties by sitting on their laurels and not being critical about performance. That's all I'm doing and that's all I suggest you do. Soak up the win by all means, but always look for areas for improvement.

The win is great, especially over them. Certainly not the only one here calling out HP's game... If you want to enjoy it without critiquing things, that's fine. But I'm not going to say that everything is all dandy when it isn't

Turning to JVR in the ruck absolutely quelled Drapers substantial influence, even if I thought Draper still had his number as well, but wasn't as effective with JVR on him. If we didn't make that switch it would have been 6 goals the other way. The unfortunate thing is petty was poor as both a ruck and a fwd option.

Petty was clearly worst on ground for us, and only bettered by 2m Peter on the other team. A Joe the goose handball for a goal is hardly anything to write home about. Fact is he just shouldn't have been selected and I'm puzzled by the back patting and self congratulating types who are justifying his selection, when he was very poor, unfortunately again. I'd love to see him be a great player for us again, but his form just doesn't warrant selection currently.

Certainly not played Petty. Not after his last few weeks pre injury. Either JVR sole ruck and have another impactful forward, or a Fullerton/Verrell. Either of these options would have been more fruitful than Petty, either as a ruck or as a forward option.

So we're still making excuses for Petty's performance (selection) because A) lack of preseason/injuries B) he's playing out of position It's not all on him, I get it, it's as much on team selection that causes him to either play unfit or play in a position where he's ineffective. But we can't rely on these issues when analysing performance. If you're not fit or in position where you need to play, then let's call it out. He was monstered by Draper and not much more effective in the forward line v Mackay. Out muscled, out bodied, out worked across the ground.

Touche Credit where credit is due, he's reinvented himself. Ironically it's McDonald keeping Petty out of d50.

What? Vindicated when Petty struggled in the centre bounces early? That's what he was picked for! Afford JVR in the ruck more? Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. Petty was uncompetitive in the ruck in the 1st where he was dragged, and forced us to lose JVR out of the forward 50, where Petty was again uncompetitive in the forward line. We may as well have played with one less player. If someone can highlight a 1v1 victory he had all night, that would be great. Petty apologists are nuffies. You can't possibly have viewed that game and suggest Petty was worth selecting. May as well have played K Brown if JVR was going to ruck for 3/4.
