Changes: JVR to FB. Fritsch SUB - both at Casey. Spargo never to play another game, let alone at Casey or AFL level.
Soooo
OUT: Fritsch, till he learns to tackle and kick straight from straight in front of the goal.
JVR
Spargo.
IN: Johnson - for his ability to run and tackle.
Petty - Just because he is Petty.
Milkshake. Just cause old heads know how to tackle.
SUB: anyone except Sharp. Q: Did he play last week against Hawthorn?

Homestly, one could look at the whole team play as Casey's next round, but to be honest, right now we need speed around the ball and forward line improvement. I would give Jefferson another chance and definitely bring in Fullerton to support an aging Gawn. Rest JVR and Fritsch. - Don't play Spargo or Sharp till they prove themselves in the Reserves.
Please fo not give Laurie or Woey Jnr another chance ahead of some youngsters.

I remember vividly when we called time on Daniher everyone was sad but knew it was time with Goodwin I don’t think I will have any sadness just a question of why we didn’t do it sooner. Every year I feel more and more Goodwin got extremely lucky in 2021 that everything just came together and he was just a passenger, good coaches don’t have teams drop off a cliff like this when seemingly all the peaces are there.
I know how to solve things and win a premiership next year -bring back COVID and we play the granny in W.A. ` simple.

Quick thoughts:
- Nobody played well (No Chandler PR please)
- Count the broken tackles and fine them a $1000 for each one.Â
- Count every turnover that led to a scoring shot and fine them a $1000 for each one ($2000 if Comben was the one who intercepted it)
- Count every attempted fend off or shrug off that didn't break the tackle and fine them a $1000 for each one.
- Gawn can't 1 man ruck anymore
- 4 seasons with no key forward trades
- I'm so glad we traded our first round pick for no reason
- Why Langford is omitted for Spargo/Woewodin I'll never knowAll money accumulated from fines can go to Jim Stynes foundation. Season's over and it's round 2 but what did anyone expect. Our premiership hopes relied on a forward line of Daniel Turner and Jacob Van Rooyen.
Agree.... Woey and Spargs have to go next week. I would bring back Johnson and play Kozzie in number 99 - no one will know if no one reads this thread.

Early start for me. The bounce at 5.20 am my time. Coffee and breakfast at half-time.
Believe we should win with our defensive strength matching/beating their forward quality. Our forwards should have an easier time of it this week as the Roos defence looks to,have a few holes in it. Our midfield to have too much for the Roos and too improve with the run last week.Â
ÂI look to the team to run out winners in the second half.Â
ÂDees by 32.Â
Oh I can do better than that timeline... The game starts in my lounge room at 12:20 am Sunday.

I’m curious what people’s opinions are on who will replace ANB as our defensive gut-running forward? He played such an important role in our team.
We have a number of options including Chandler, Tholstrup, Laurie, Sparrow, Langdon and Sharp. None are like-for-like, but all are great runners, strong defensively and can hit the scoreboard.
For different reasons I think we should try Sparrow or Laurie there. Sparrow is strong overhead and has a penetrating kick. Laurie an effective crumber and deliverer inside 50.Â
Obviously still room for a more traditional forward on the other flank.Â
Thoughts?
Right now I am not a fan of Laurie based on 2024 games. I think Bowie may be able to fill ANB's role, and I see from ground reports @ training by others here that he is in the on-ballers group in these training sessions. As for Sparrow, he needs to take the next step in his playing development. I feel.

Why would anyone that was sacked stay on for a couple of months and also agree to stay on as a consultant. If it happened to most people I think the normal reaction would be too say two words.
Because he is under contract, and maybe they chose to change his position  to consultant

Pert could have easily dug his heels in and made this difficult
Fair play to him taking the hit and making it easier for us to get ready for next year
My thoughts are that Pert was asked to resign or be sacked as a result of the most recent overview review findings. He chose to graciously resign his position. Being contracted, I feel the MFC Board talked him into resigning and then re-employing him as a consultant for the Caulfield project to see his contract out. Just feel there is more to this than meets the eye.
Pert has stuck his nose recently into areas such as the Oliver issue, which is outside his responsibilities. Not handled well at all. I am sure that was raised at the Club review.
To me, Pert has always been a person who seeks gratification. Hope we get a good CEO.

With Greg Stafford now departing the Demons, who should we look for?
I definitely think we need a massive shake up of ALL our assistant coaches.
Who is currently available or would we endeavour to try to recruit to the Melbourne Football Club?
Here's a list of a few names that we should look at considering to get to the Demons.
1) Justin Leppitsch - has done some amazing work at both Richmond and Collingwood after his failed stint as Brisbane senior coach
2) Cameron Bruce - the former Demon has been assistant coach at Hawthorn and now Brisbane with quite a bit of success
3) Daniel Giansiracusa - has a impressive assistant coaching record at both the Bulldogs and the Bombers and might be looking for a fresh start
4) Steve Johnson - the former Cat was a very crafty forward and has done assistant coaching before.
5) Dylan Grimes - has recently retired from the Tigers and may be interested in being an assistant coach
6) Adam Simpson - the former Eagles Premiership coach might be interested in returning to Victoria and doing assistant coaching
7) Tom Hawkins - is about to retire after Geelong's finals campaign and may be interested in a new challenge at a new club
8) Nathan Buckley - is probably happy in the media, but it's always worth at least asking the question if he was interested in becoming an assistant coach again
9) Trent Cotchin - the champion Richmond Captain seems to be mainly doing media work, but it's always worthwhile at least inquiring if he wants to do assistant coaching
10) Brendon Bolton - is highly underrated due to being an unsuccessful coach at Carlton, has done great work at both Hawthorn and now at Collingwood behind the scenes
Â
Anyway, these are all merely suggestions. But I am curious to hear what other Demons supporters think we should look at targeting to bolster our coaching group to assist Simon Goodwin once the off-season starts after AFL finals.
The primary focus should be to select high quality football people that will make the Demons a better team for next year.
I would also consider.
-
Ash HansenA premiership Eagle in 2006, Hansen is now Michael Voss's senior assistant at Carlton. He was previously a forwards coach and has also coached at Footscray.ÂÂÂ
-
Brett MontgomeryAn assistant coach at the GWS Giants, Montgomery is responsible for the backline.ÂÂÂ
-
Ben HartAn assistant coach at the GWS Giants, Hart is responsible for the midfield.ÂÂÂ
-
ÂCraig JenningsAn assistant coach at the GWS Giants, Jennings is responsible for the offense.ÂÂÂ
-
Jeremy LaidlerAn assistant coach at the GWS Giants, Laidler is responsible for the forwards.ÂÂÂ
-
Shane MumfordAn assistant coach at the GWS Giants, Mumford is responsible for the rucks.Â

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
in Melbourne Demons
I don't know what game you were at but AJ performed well in his bullocking role. In fact he gave away two goals selfishly to others.
