Assistant Coaches in 2026
This is how I’m feeling about the whole situation we’re in.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
That goes both ways. Offer us something decent so we don’t laugh in their faces next time we hold the whip hand.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
The annoying thing is he very likely is good enough.
-
The List Manager Tim Lamb
With our list and club where it is and with Tassie on the horizon there’s no world where we could risk losing Koz. The flow on effects are almost more damaging than the player himself.
-
Bailey Humphrey
Josh Jenkins has that sewn up.

Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
Well my usual barista is my partner so it was just nice to get a coffee without be asked to do something. Trade news was the bonus. The fact he then turned out to be a Melbourne supporter really turned it into the BANG BANG BANG of coffee outings.

Farewell Judd McVee
I’d love the club to say pick 12 or a solid player or it’s the PSD. I know we won’t do it but jeez it would feel good watching him run around for WC.

Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
Just when you think you sound smart!

The List Manager Tim Lamb
Jeepers, you sign guys like this as soon as possible. Imagine the next 2 years of media around Kozz if he hadn’t signed. As it is they’ll probably be saying he wants out.

Welcome to Demonland: Max Heath
I’ve been told that he’s 100% coming. I will say that this mail comes via a Barista who knows the family. On a tighter ship I’d keep this to myself as little more than hearsay but here on Demonland we roll this stuff around as Fact.

Bailey Humphrey
Possibly but Hardwick would surely have watched Petracca this year. I just don’t see him switching out the two and thinking he’s improved their chances. I’d take Humphrey over Petracca in 2026 everyday of the week.
-
Bailey Humphrey
Agreed but if you’re GC why do you let him go for Petracca when he’s contracted on low money for 3 more years? This is the bit that has the question marks around it and is the reason we’re even in the conversation to land him. It’s what’s in those question marks that makes this intriguing.

Farewell Christian Petracca
MFC in the Bailey Humphrey section
-
Bailey Humphrey
Yes but the other clubs do t have the Petracca Chips we do
-
Bailey Humphrey
We’ll have to agree to disagree on this. My theory on Humphrey is his manager is trying to get his client more dollars, likely by squeezing GC. My thoughts are he’d be needing some offers from outside clubs to make this happen. That’s where we knock him over and make us his next club. Either way it’s all a long shot.
-
Bailey Humphrey
I’m sorry but that makes even less sense. “We’ll give you more money but you have to commit to us before we tell you how much”
-
Bailey Humphrey
Personally I reckon his manager is angling for a contract bump for his young star. $800k is cheap on the open market and the number will likely come out soon enough.
-
Bailey Humphrey
Why would Humphrey nominate us before we show him the money? Makes no sense.
-
Bailey Humphrey
We’re simply not getting him for a million a year. It’ll be $1.5million x (“insert ruinous number of years here”) He’s exactly the player this club needs. This deal would change our club for the better overnight. I seriously don’t think that’s hyperbole although I’ve pumped a lot of caffeine today.
-
Bailey Humphrey
IF Humphrey nominates us and we start the bidding then we really should be able to get this deal done without cashing in all our chips. Give them Pick 23 this year. It’ll be the swindle of the century if we pull this off though.
-
Bailey Humphrey
Pick 3-6 in 2026 can’t be on the table. Next years draft is very important to us.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
This is surely the salt being rubbed into the wound of a club that had its 2 biggest stars burn out in front of our eyes. The FD should be ropeable about this happening.
-
Bailey Humphrey
I doubt he’d turn over in bed if we didn’t offer at least this.
-
Bailey Humphrey
Surely we’ve been speaking with him as well. I’m guessing there’s this tiny possibility of prying him out of the GC. I’d say Petracca puts us ahead of anything the other clubs can offer if, and it’s a massive IF, Humphrey actually chooses to come to us. If I’m GC I’m laughing at the possibility of Humphrey leaving for Petracca. That’s the equivalent of us trading Petracca in 2019/20 for say, Travis Boak. For mine it only happens if senior GC and/or AFL management want/make it happen and that’s heading into conspiracy territory which I’m not great at. On top of this we’d surely have to go close to TDK contract terms to go beyond a walk around the tan. Still I’ve got my hopeful hat on.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
In what world do we allow Clayton Oliver to play for Collingwood? Can you imagine our next loss to them with Clayton hugging and high fiving Maynard and co. Just let that sink in, like really sink in, go on breathe it right in. Surely you’ve got enough pain down there without adding that to it!
