I do not rate Jenkins and he would not come cheap in terms of salary, would rather pick up Casboult as a free agent to smash packs and provide a marking target and allow Weid to play as a leading target

Yeah I'm not a big Jenkins fan either tbh, but I think we potentially could get him 'cheaply' given he seems on the outer at the Crows. Would really be looking at him to fill a senior depth role, bit like Pedersen did for a few years and T.Smith does currently. Wouldn't mind Casboult either, wouldn't exactly help our goal kicking but could be handy as a higher key forward who could make space for the other talls. Either way, would be looking at either as more insurance rather than 'best 22' as such.

  2. First (likely around pick 2-4) and 4th rounders for Langdon and Freo's first pick (likely somewhere around 8-10).

    Second rounder for McDonald-Tipungwuti.

Stephen Hill as a free agent.

Josh Jenkins as a free agent.

Thoughts on that as a realistic offseason?

(NB - Trying to be actually realistic here)

And, stats can be used to paint any picture to suit a viewpoint

    ;)

PS - Of course tackle counts can effect free kick counts.

PPS - Conversion rate was Dogs 47.6%, Cats 35%.

Reckon that's always a bit of shallow reasoning mate. Dogs had more tackles which could have impacted that free kick count, plus they were WAY more effective with the ball with less disposals per goal and a better conversion rate. They also absolutely smashed the Cats for 1%ers.

Free kick counts don't have to be even, particularly when one team is statistically proven to be showing more intent and being more effective.

  5. Don't mind this lineup on paper, but as they say...

Like the combo of Weid and Preuss as the tall forwards, hoping that Weid's mobility and Preuss' lack thereof will mean they don't fly for the same ball too often.

Back 6 is tantalizing, forward line would surely end up having Trac, Dunkley, Lockhart and either ANB or C.Wagner (from the extended bench) running through, as it's not the most creative group of players starting there.

If Jetta comes in, it will be in the expectation that he is fit and has enough k’s in the legs. I still don’t understand why people automatically conclude “rushing back” when the club doesn’t apply conservatism upon conservatism upon conservatism.

If he's ready, why limit him to playing a half game of VFL last week?

Jetta was mentioned in the same breath, so I’m interpreting him to be in similar condition.

I know we differ on the whole injury rehab/preparation vibe, but surely playing 1/2 a game of VFL football in 11 weeks isn't enough preparation for a full game of AFL?

Exactly the way i took it.

Gawn and Lever most likely to be our only changes for Tmac and Hore.

Jetta another week at VFL level.

Possible but so far this year he's usually been pretty up front to say when best 22 players are going to pay vfl. Usually when they've said available they mean they'll pick them in the 1s. Unless he is suggesting that Jetta is not a walk up start anymore

Have a mate who's a Casey regular and he was saying Nev told him at the game that he would play another 1-2 VFL games as part of his preparation. Obviously things can change quickly in footy, but my personal opinion would be he should play another 1 at least. Only played a half last week.

Fritta did the full session training with the mids from memory.  Rawlings was with the forwards as they did the goal kicking which consisted of boundary line snaps and kicking to the front of the goal square from 50 out on the boundary.  May didn't train with the forwards.

Jetts did the full session but as for playing AFL or VFL I've no idea.  I'd play him AFL if he's fit enough but really I've no more idea on that or the other changes than anyone else.

Thanks heaps for passing on so much info mate! Really appreciate it.

Thanks mate! Best part of this site!

    May I interrogate a little...

Fritta look ok to play this week?

Thoughts on Jetta playing VFL or AFL?

Who was leading the technique instruction for the goal kicking?

By any chance, did May train with the forwards at all?

    Cheers!

    Yep. Another excellent performance

I have eaten my words well and truly

I could see May as being a player you love eventually mate. Hungry for success, killer attitude, demanding of his team mates, the type of person we need right now at a crucial stage for our beloved club.

Yeah, I think Kreuzer initiated the confusion by having his back towards their goal and looking to give it off. Not on a knock on our fella, just thought the sequence was funny, especially the slow mo, it looked like 2 BFGs trying to dance the Nutbush.

  13. Not sure on the headline DL, what he actually says is:

"It’s a longshot, but Gold Coast should make Clayton Oliver an offer he cannot refuse. He’s exactly what the Suns lack, a consistent, genuine A-grader who they can build the club around for the next decade. He’s a $1-million-a-year player in the making, at age 21."

He does also mention the possibility of Gus to Freo, which could potentially combine with some supporter murmurs from both clubs and build, OR of course it could just dissipate.

Petracca and our first pick for next year would make me a very happy camper.

Or even Petracca and a first round pick swap this year.

    Yes, I'm serious.

We are the worst team for ground balls inside 50, Petracca is top of the comp for winning ground balls inside 50.

You don't trade out players that are helping in our weakest areas.

The reson he did not have many clearances is because he is not in there as much as last year.  Pretty hard to get a clearance when you are told to be 30 m away

We're talking about yesterday's game, and he played plenty of time in the middle.

Yup. Do we know the recovery time for TMac? Obviously no more matches this year, but how will his pre-season be impacted?

Not sure, but apparently it's only a "slight tear", so at a very rough guess I would think he's safe for the start of preseason. Sparrow had a similar injury, I think a worse version though, and he was expected to miss about 8-9 weeks.
