I would love to know the reason why we dropped Hunt, our second highest goal kicker, and picked two midget forward pockets. Particularly when we have no key forward/relief ruckman.

My only guess is to rest hunt. We know he can impact the forward line. Rest him, bring in Spargo and Chandler to see what they can bring. Why not, season is done. Mix it up a bit

    J Martin's season averages: 18 disposals @ 61% efficiency, 4 turnovers & .5 goals per game, 3.8 score involvements

    B Hill's season averages: 25 disposals @ 68% efficiency,  5 turnovers & .3 goals per game, 6.1 score involvements

Martin has been dropped this round too. Not due to talent but I’m sure doesn’t care to be at the Gold Coast so his numbers have dropped. At another team where his interest will be up, except his numbers to rise dramatically

    C.Wagner - workman like performance

    Brayshaw -  bounced back emphatically

    Hibberd - glimpses of old

    Lewis - forward line generalissimo

    Neal-Bullen -  incremental improvement noted

    May - scary scary man

    Petracca - tantalising cameo christian

    Jetta - better for run

    Hunt - more pill needed

    Petty - hype proceeds performance

    Frost - darling out muscled

    Preuss - purple patch only

Not sure about petty’s comment. He looks solid and did miss due to his ankle injury and looked sore the rest of the game.

    5 possessions or less:

Brayshaw, ANB, Preuss, Fritsch, Lockhart, Hannan, Dunkley, Frost (though honorable mentions to Petty and Jetta).

We can go easy on Lockhart and Dunkley. Only been part of afl for a few weeks and never done a pre season etc etc. others Ned to lift though brayshaw is injured clearly today

Gawn for Tommy and Lever for Hore the obvious ones.

Not sure he had much of a game at Casey but I’d love to put Baker back in on the fast Etihad track and leave Fritsch at half back if Petty doesn’t get up.

JKH?? If we have to I guess, but are we really expecting him to get another go next year?

Yes baker back. His second half was good yesterday and I feel is better suited to AFL then VFL.

Can't see Baker of Bedford making it...have doubts on Petty, not sure he is quick enough (pace and decision making) for AFL level.

Would like to see Sparrow taking Nev's spot down back but with Viney going down may come into the midfield.

I would wait on baker. No pre season remember.

But that's exactly the problem.  Combine the forward press gameplan with [censored] poor ball movement and no real forward structure and you get a massively congested forward line.  Once we have that, it's easy for opposition sides to run around us and get players out in the open spaces behind our defence.  Haven't you noticed how every other forwardline in the game has room to move while ours is like the Monash at peak hour?  Goodwin needs to abandon his forward defence and protect our goals.  Not only will that make it harder for teams to score those easy goals, it will create space for our forwards to work in.

Well said and it’s so easy to see. We are playing such high pressure from the backline that everything congests moving forward. It’s a terrible plan. No wonder our forwards can’t get the ball. Tmac can’t raise his arms which is a issue, weid not yet. No proper small forwards. It’s plan to see

He’s being played out of position.

He needs to be played as a forward or on a wing, not in the backline.

Yep agree. The kid is very good up forward but due to injuries/form etc he has to play back. It sucks cause we need him forward.
