  1. i think jones will announce his retirement this week and fly home to be with his wife, hes unlikely to be selected as much as we all want him to be, (and an on the run thought, could we name him as the sub even if he's in another state and just pray no one gets nick vlaustined in the first quarter)

may is clearly [censored] but grand finals have a way of healing would be injuries, just ask zac dawson and jeremy mcgovern

  2. i've always thought damon greaves was capable of playing afl level and just got unlucky that the hawks had impey, jiath, scrimshaw, day, hardwick all at HB already, but maybe i just liked his name, his hair colour and his jumper number (44) all combo'd up, could be in the mix as a rebounding small defender around the comp as a DFA

Given lack of opportunities in the 2nds  I would have like to see Daws play forward. Smith on the wing/forward or Declase on the wing. We should prise Kemp from the blues, I am aware  that he is not a world beater now. Hunt took awhile to get going with injuries and poor form. Rivers could be made into a mid whilst Petty could play forward next year and cold be another T.Mac. Our areas I would like see we need a forward an outside mid.

or we could leave it as is considering we're a win off a grand final, just a thought...

Why did he leave Freo in the first place? Always thought that was weird, but didn't look too much into it.

wanted to be the big dog, knew he was stuck behind fyfe at the dockers

sounds like the exact mold of a certain Taj Woewodin who will come a lot later in the piece but seems almost a certainty

I’ve had a long, hard look at Twomey’s Top 30 and I wonder where Cal Twomey gets his intel from?

Two weeks ago, he published his Draft Team of the Year in which he placed Mac Andrew on the interchange bench. He’s pick #9 here. The rationale must be that he doesn’t make the best 18 because he’s there because of his long term potential and the suggestion is that he’s been told by  at least one club recruiter (I suspect more than one) that he’s in their sights. Otherwise, this doesn’t make sense to me.

There were a couple of other NGA’s in Twomey’s DTOY. They were Collingwood’s Youseph Dib and St Kilda’s Michito Owens but neither of them are in his top 30 a fortnight later. Strange.

Full back Zak Becker, winger Isaac Birt and interchange also missed his top 30.

Josh Rachele who was surprisingly left out of Twomey’s team is back in favour at number 8.

All this suggests that we can expect plenty of surprises and changes in lists of this type before the final decisions are made.

the DTOTY is significantly different to his top 30 predictions as the rolling team is based on live form therefore injured players/covid affected players have had significantly less exposed form compared to consistent WA/SA based players who have been strong week on week. thats the major reason for the diversity. also a rolling side must have 6-6-6 whereas in a draft theres nothing to stop the first 20 players picked being midfielders however that is unrealistic when picking a side (unless it happens to be a prestigious AA side *eyeroll*)

    ‱ Collingwood looking at Geelong’s Natan Kreuger who has yet to play an AFL game;

    ‱ Josh Caddy looking for a 4th club;

‱ Gold Coast considering a bid for Luke Parker.

krueger did play 1 game as a KPD when henderson was a late out, showed some signs but hard to see the cats letting him go with their ageing stocks (Blic, Hawk, Stanley + Henderson all 30+) he will get more chances over the next 12 months as will Sam DeKoning

  6. pat naish was a target of the pies last year so maybe they sign him up as a DFA this season, surprising that the tigers only announced the one list change, maybe they feel their other OOC players have trade value? but surely naish would've too

  7. i couldn't believe dustin fletcher wasn't an automatic entrant, one of only 5 players over 400 games and arguably the greatest FB of the modern era if not all time, definitely has a resume to suggest he should've been named alongside judd and goodes in their retiree class, i wonder if the Dank saga played a part here?

If the voting is based on week by week performances and value to the side I’d probably go:

    5. Georgiades

    4. Green

    3. McInerney

    2. Schoenberg

    1. Jackson

green has been dropped on multiple occasions and missed games through injury also played in losing side more often than jackson so would definitely not be 2nd on week-by-week performances imo

I reckon he'll sign on for another 2 years until free agency kicks in then re evaluate his affairs like most players are doing these days.

i'd be flabbergasted if it went any other way tbh, particularly given how insecure our KPF spots really are, we could easily be sitting here in 12 months time after weid has had a 30 goal season after breaking in after round 8 and tmac is a washed up 30yo about to embark on some 1 year depth contracts, you just never know in foopy, but i think the lure of potentially playing in a GF over the next two years should be enough to convince him to stay until FA then decide

I've always liked the MFC logo below. The only problem i have is i have an arm which will give a tattoo artist nightmares (very skinny). I suppose i can get it on my forehead.

Also, i don't think a simple MFC would look nice on it's own. Needs something to go with it.

    melbourne-demons-new-logo.jpg

snap! said in the "what would you do if we..." thread i had the same idea to go on the heart but need to add some more sizzle and artsiness to it but that logo is super underrated, very clean and is recognisable through history as this beautiful sporting family

Pendles will turn 34 in first week of January. I question if there's even one season left in the tank. He's one calf strain away from the knackery.

I like the look of Karl Amon on a wing for us. Chain him to Langers and build his tank over the preseason. A classy left footer.

might have to chain langdon to amon by the looks of thingsÂ đŸ€

So to get an invite to the national combine you need a total of 5 AFL clubs to nominate interest.

It's no harm whatsoever in Taj not getting an invite. So many gun players have carved our significant AFL careers by not attending the draft combine.

He'll most likely attend the state combined.

theres state combines to follow which is for players nominated by at least 3 clubs. what time of player is AMW? could it spell the end of chandler/bedford? jettas no.39 should be washed and ready when he steps onto the list in 2022, what size is he?

Yeah Taylor is cagey in how he handles these interviews - to me he was doing everything he could to push Andrew Mac down the order so we could still nab him - eg was at pains to point out he hasn't been involved in vic metro/country squads and that he's very raw.

On the one hand does this really effect anything?  Maybe / Maybe not - but I guess swaying the views of Cal Twomey is valuable and anyone who has a view / follows the draft probably listens to this podcast

shouldn't be too hard to do considering i doubt he'll apply for the draft, ;) Mac Andrew on the other hand, well we can hope

  14. honestly i'm not upset about the smith over hibbo call, we probably weren;t expecting sav to be dropped given blic will play deeper in defence more often without stewart so he would've second rucked to stanley, and they will keep us accountable in the air so having a capable extra tall would help us out.

kadinia park is also narrow therefore less space to use run and kick which is hibbos strength and means more long deep bombs onto packs and crowded areas, suited to the athleticism and aerial ability of smith over hibbo.

im genuinely more upset about melk losing his spot ahead of sparrow, hear me out coz i know this is already polarising... we've looked better in the last two weeks with our inside 50s compared to the middle stretch of the season. due to the lack of wings u can afford to play gus through the guts more to take sparrow/jordons minutes + harmes increases his gametime and u can start melky/spargs/tmac on a wing and allow them to drill the ball onto chests going i50. alternatively i wouldn'tve been mad if tmac was left out for melky to hold his spot for the same reason, having less talls forces us to kick shorter and sharper which suits our forwards, BBB, fritsch and melky on the lead particularly rather than kicks to packs which suits the cats defenders, Kola, henry, hendo and blic who will knuckle everything.

anyway im not mad about the changes and definitely backing us in feeling pretty confident of a win

i reckon the rising star should just be for players drafted in the previous year.. if they get injured/don't play enough games, so be it. its kinda weird that jackson will win it when he was drafted in '19..

i like the rules for eligibility coz theres usually players who dont debut in their first season, this year was always going to be slightly skewed as it was only a 17 game season so more players fell under the 10 game threshold, recent history also suggests that it usually is a 1st year player who wins it so it would be Jamarra/NGA type reactive to change it as soon as one player who is not a first yearer wins it.

i personally would be open to the idea of a "lifetime nomination" as in, once you're nominated you are eligible until you don't qualify so players who played <10 games last year and received noms last year don't need to be nominated again this year, therefore an extra what would if have been 4-5 players would have been nominated who didn't get to be recognised because of all the double ups... in a usual season this would only happen once or twice anyway so wouldn't really be a major shakeup

  16. you can tell how [censored] off he is about the conditions with mac, and feels really stiffed out of a player there and tried to call him raw wheneber he gets the chance and stress that he was never in any pathways to try and lower his value

re farmer he sounds like its not going to happen at all, the way he said i hope he enjoyed his weeks here and continues to develop his footy

taj i'd say is a lock to be picked up, crafty mid/hb

has not missed yet this bloke ticks in all the last few drafts, super impressive and has my full faith in what he brings in this time around.

Gus is 25+ touches a game in his sleep as a pure mid. Need another wing.

    lipinsnkiiiiii

also i can't understand all the people throwing up inside mid suggestiions we have one of the best midfields in the comp we don't need to be throwing 600k+ and first round draft picks at more top liners in this position particularly parker at 29yo who wants a 4yr swans deal. you need to upgrade your weaknesses so HF/HB and wing are where theres been the most unforced change this season in the 22 so fix that first and foremost

  18. ive always wanted the MFC lettering (like the blues logo idk how to descibe it properly) tatted on my left pec but that plan has been bedded by a mixture of wanting something more artsy and filling and also a furry layer which will obscure the view of such a magical memory. so im thinking the shoulder blade might get a full piece. can't yet picture in my head what thatll look like yet tho

Is Lever not in your permutations?

not really a key position player prefers a mid sized matchup where he can float off but all you're doing in strengthening my argument that we are so well stocked for 190+ defensive options, would honestly rather my guy marty hore in ahead of Smut

  20. why do so many peope keep suggesting inside mids, like tom green isn't coming nor is he a good option for us, neither taranto or hopper either. it's our strongest position on the ground and we have youngsters who are coming through behind our 24yo "leaders" and we've got first choice mids at other clubs prepared to limit their time in there to suit the teams needs

    Smith will make it.

he hasnt done so in 6 years what makes u think year 7 will be any different? and who are u taking out of the 22 to put him in anyway.

imo a balanced list seems to be about 4 KPPs per end so May, Petty, Tomlinson, Turner you'd think would be plenty, 3 first team and one developing, same as the forward line Brown, TMac, Weid, MBrown and id suggest we draft a tall like mac to develop while we have a good selection to take mbrowns spot

  22. fair to say jsmith wasnt the resigning i was expecting at all let alone 4 weeks before the end of the season especially as he was one of the last to get a deal last season when we were tossing up he or OMac. must be playing for a packet of chips/part of his dads compo. particularly with the versatile declase and developing tall turner on board now but oh well fair play to him must be doing something right
