Well we were still in the game in the early stages of the last quarter.
I thought our mid field played 'well' but couldnt clear it as they got caught or dispossed. This required other players to shepherd, protect or block for the ball carrier, which they didnt do as they had run fwd to receive. Geelongs passion and ferocity caught us out.

Beaten at the clearances, badly.
Our forward system remains a total enigma. Our forwards rarely lead, lots of kicking to stationary targets, our small and mid forwards nowhere near their best. A lot of our forward play totally staggers me. I know Goody rarely swings the axe but Bedford, Kozzie, Sparrow and ANB must be close to losing their places.
and Spargo.....

Bemoan the fact that Tomlinson/Garland/Ryan Ferguson/Seecamp/Some other bit part defender wasn't in to take care of the gorilla forwards..
A touch harsh on Seecamp. James Hird hated playing on him. I remember he matched up with Dermie in one of those Whitten charity games. Dermie couldnt get a kick.

Melbourne Kicks a goal : Lady in the cheer squad has a big head 🙂
Player drafted using future picks kicks winning goal : The club will regret this
Player drafted using future picks misses kicking winning goal : I told you so
Melbourne wins : Would have won by more if we had a permanent home base in the MCG precinct

I remember when we failed to take Jack Darling all those years back because he was rumoured to be a bit rough around the edges and took Lucas Cook instead still haunts me. Sometimes you have to rely on your coaching fraternity to sort those behaviour issues out but then again we may have lacked that finesse at the time!!
Every other club passed on JD too. He went at pick 26 and would have been a disaster at the Dees.

I know I often bring things back to me and it annoys some, but when I was a cop, treating a crook fairly and not being too 'Baptist' with chastisement after a physical confrontation was often commented upon by the crook, especially the older ones, the words that come back to me are 'You new guys are making it hard to hate you'.
Crikey, Clarrie picking up Tex does lead to some interesting places.
As a young fella I avoided the police and kept out of their eye. Not hard as i was no trouble. Recently my stepson had an absolute episode and came to the attention of the police. And the courts. Can I just say that what was a difficult time for the family ended well. The police were fantastic.
