  1. Yes, JTR. Apologies. I was thinking about the earlier quotes. I am with you 100pc.
  2. Fair dinkum you blokes. The umpires do NOT have a set against the Dees. The umpires do NOT try to swing games in favour of the other teams. If they did, they would be out of a job. Full stop. They do occasionally make errors - split second decision, partially obscured view, all of that - but can we please stop this mindless bleating as though we are some sort of perfect team that never makes mistakes? Don't forget, the more F'ing and B'ing you blokes do only drags our game down and deters people from becoming umpires. Stop it. Just make sensible, analytical statements about our players, coach and game plans and the opposition players, coach and game plans. Talk about what you saw, not what you imagine. When you blame the umpires, it only makes you look like a nuff-nuff.
  3. Agree. Roy (JVR) better stand up soon. I think he got more touches tonight than usual, but how long is a work in progress?
  4. With due deference to Binman, it certainly looked like centre clearances were important tonight.
  5. They are not ordinary. They have more marking power than us, a competitive midfield and their own Jake Lever down back.
  6. Yep. 2 goals 7 behinds is a lot of looks at goal in one quarter... Just sayin'.
  7. And there was TMac's over-the-head snap over in the West (R14, 2017)to win the game in the last minute. Max's after-the-siren sealer down at Taxpayer Park (last round, 2021). Neil Crompton's goal in the 1964 Grannie.
  8. Jackson was an above average second ruck. JVR is nowhere near Jacko. JVR really needs to do more. He's not clunking marks (he's a two-grabber and that makes it easier to spoil), not kicking goals, not even flattening a few opposition players. Why is he there? Answer: there's no-one else.
  9. I did like the way he led up to the ball.
  10. Embarrassing that half our goals came from a duo with less than 10 games between them.
  11. Given the number of AFL games played every year, commentators are bound to repeat phrases, facts about players and descriptions of play over the season quite apart from the cliches that many of us rely on when discussing footy. But, in the fourth quarter of the Crows game, I am sure I heard an absolutely new and original phrase: " Caught by Brown". Has anyone heard that before? :)
  12. 4 1 2 complain about that is poor 4m, I think.
  13. I rejected all the accuracy love directed towards the Demons after the Port Adelaide win because I believed 15.6 was a fluke. I hate to say it, but I feel justified after our 10.18 effort against the Crows. I remember last week Goody saying "Yes, we have been working on our kicking for years with Chocko" as if the problem had been solved. Did any of the press ask him after the Crows game what happened this week? Perhaps he would argue that Billings's 0.3 effort was because he hasn't been attending Chocko's kicking classes for long enough. Fair dinkum, this monkey will kill us again in the finals. What can we do about it, George? Please give us an answer!
  14. Ratts transformed our midfield first time around. Maybe he could teach the "Rolls-Royce" how to win a clearance and kick straight...
  15. As a Demon tragic first an an ABC (Anyone But Collingwood) supporter second, I'll be rooting for the Giants, Hogan and Bedford for the flag.
  16. Where does this BT hate come from? I re-watched the Collingwood second half and he was fanning our embers from early in Q3 - even though the Filth out-scored us in Q3. He was saying "4 goals, it's stlll very do-able". I don't get this argument that he's anti-Dee. I do get the argument that the AFL (and the Tribunal) are pro-Filth, though. Same as they are pro-Swans. (Like Keating says, never bet against self-interest.)
  17. Dees at the 'G are living proof there is no such thing as home ground advantage. We have won 11 from 15 at the 'G this year (not all home" games, obviously) so hardly a fortress. And, as for finals at the 'G, we've had nothing since 2018 (mainly due to Covid in 2021, admittedly). Is playing at the 'G against co-tenants different to playing a proper away team? Do we have a home ground advantage against co-tenant Carlton tonight? Even if it is our "home" game, the Carlton crowd is likely to be louder. Where is the advantage?
  18. We did hold Collingwood to just 60 points. (Unfortunately we held ourselves to just 53 points!)
  19. Thanks Deebauched. I'm glad there are people out there with better recall than I can muster at 74yo!
  20. Correct. Thanks demoniac. Brereton was never FF.
  21. Binman reckons Tomlinson's failure to play all-team defence cost us three goals against the Hawks. Good enough reason to leave him out when we are losing by less than two goals each week?
  22. And I think there are spots for at least six of the Apostles in the forward line, too.
  23. It's an old one, but... Back in the day, a church in Hawthorn put up the topic for next week's sermon: "What would you do if Jesus came to Hawthorn?". A couple of days later there was a scrawl underneath that said: "Move Brereton to centre half forward!"
  24. Collingwood (millions of supporters) and the Swans (millions of AFL investment) are untouchable at finals time. It's like Trump. They could kill an opponent and wouldn't get prosecuted.
