  1. It’s still uncomfortable as I get tired of thinking any man and woman together must be a couple. Though I was flattered that she thought I was their mother. Gawn was awesome. Asked my nephew who his favourite player was. Even though it’s Jones, he said Gawn. Really friendly and seemed to be having a good time. Even lifted up twins for this woman I saw. As for complaining about it not being held at Luna Park, how about going to Luna Park after? It’s not like it’s late or anything. It was packed there as it was.
  2. Yup definently sunburnt. Caked myself in sunscreen but still burnt. I’m sure my mate will notice I’m a true ā€˜redleg’ when we go swimming tomorrow morning. All in all a great day, apart from the old woman who commented that me and my brother were a ā€˜cute couple’. Urgh.
  3. I vote we keep it here next year. It was great not having people who are there for different reasons (ie rides in Luna Park) getting in the way. Thing is, it was a bit unclear how to find some players. Nathan Jones was just a lucky sighting. Sometimes you just had to judge by how big a line was. Couldn’t find Viney, although I saw him onstage.
  4. Just got back. Went with my younger brother and his niece and nephew. For a 22 degree day, it was really hot. My legs feel really sunburn. The little one got his photo with Jones, Hogan and Gawn. Haven even held him up for the photo. Bought my niece her first Melbourne jumper, so hopefully that’ll help bring her back to Demons. The lines for Hogan and Gawn were punishing. With no shade, I’m sure I got pretty badly burned. Did anyone notice that a few of the female players were doing the face painting? Got a good shot with my niece. Dunno how we did it at Luna Park for so long. Was really packed just there.
  5. My nieces. I don’t know why it came put as Bruces. Take her to Luna Park after. Simple. So, was going today?
  6. My Bruce’s and nephew love going. What’s the train situation like?
  7. They’re so lucky. I would have dreamed about playing for Melbourne when I was young. I was always told it would never happen. I couldn’t even play for a team because there weren’t any girls leagues where I lived and mixing just didn’t happen back then. So, I was sent to gymnastics and swimming (later diving) while I watched in envy as my brothers got to play, while I had to stick to ā€˜girls’ sports. Not as if I would have been any good, but I would have loved to give it a go and have fun. I can’t help but envy girls who are able to play in leagues with their brothers. Now they can fulfil their dream of playing for their team, something that was impossible in my day.

Awesome! I’ve promised to get one on my right breast if we win the premiership. And of my brother will get one on his butt. Those are really great. I love the cheeky demon he’s one of my favourite.
  9. That fine and it’s your opinion. Personally I’d rather more enthusiasm. Especially after the past few ones were so inspiring to me. Lol if the scarf means so little to you, I suggest the 25% discount ?
  10. Yeah but why even bother. Especially after I had to contact them to renew. Signed up for annual plan and it only went through once in 2017. Waited and waited last year, nothing, had to call and renew over the phone.
  11. Yes but it’s disapointing after the encouraging letters we got in previous years. 2016 was from Paul Roos. Just a lazy effort. Like they have no faith in themselves already. Don’t put the 2018 membership on my car. Can’t bear the thought of losing it to rain and sun, put in a scrapbook instead.
  12. Anyone a bit disapointed with the membership package? The letter is just like ā€œhey thanks for joining and supporting our team. If you need further help, please call this number.ā€ Talk about lack of enthusiasm. I could have typed that myself. It took 3 weeks to send this?

Exactly. I think it’s time for the 1989 to make a reappearance.

That would be awesome. I like how the 90’s ā€œcheeky demonā€ made a reappearance. I just think the 1989 logo has been forgotten when in my opinion, it was one of the best non demon emblems we had.
  15. I’ve seen a few colour photos from the 1960’s. It’s really hard to distinguish it from black. I kinda like the blue they adopted for the 2004 season:

I thought it looked too much like Batman. I’d hate to see him make a return.

    No!

Nor did I suggest you did. Like I said previously, I think it’s GREAT they’ve bought him back. I grew up with him. I would just like to see a return of the 1989 one on some merchandise. Those headbands in the 90’s very pretty groovy.

Uh can this stop turning into a soccer topic?
  20. It was financial reasons too. Also it was easier to get to games. thought I was ā€œignoredā€
  21. Cassiew replied to Cassiew's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Love him, but can’t we have the 1989 logo on retro as well?
  22. Dad, is that you posting under another name?? ?
  23. Not being a mother, my nieces and nephews are the closest I’ll get. I’ve helped my brothers steer them towards Demons. I take them to games when they can’t. I buy them Demons merch. I reiterate what our father told us. Our mother seems to have got one niece stuck on Tigers. This will not do. She wants her tigers but never takes her to games. We’ll see how she goes when she’s the only one who goes to games where her team doesn’t play. The last thing tigers needs are more fans. Like my brothers said to their kids: ā€œsupport Demons or find somewhere else to live.ā€
  24. Gosh the attitude of fairwater and success chasers disgusts me. ā€œMake the finals, then I’ll renewā€. Glad most people aren’t like that. It’s not only about winning all the time. Sometimes you just have to go on a cold muddy day, against a top team, knowing full well you’re going to lose. Why? To support your team. Not just support them if they’re successful. If that’s the case, you may as well jump ship and find a team that’s likely to win the premiership if that’s all that football means to you. I was there in the 80’s. I know pain.

Forgot to add my favourite Demon moment. 1998 Qualifying final against Adelaide. Me, Dad and my brothers went. After 1996 (not knowing if we’d still exist) and the heartbreak of 1997’s wooden spoon, I started wondering if we’d ever see finals in my lifetime. Even though everyone was saying we had no hope at beating them, we all went not caring what the odds were, just grateful to see them play in a final. What a day! We absolutely killed them! Such a great game. And we were all, there together to share it. Still the best game I’ve ver been to. I’m really hoping that if we can make it, we can all go together again.
